Movies like Alien Romulus are the perfect representatives of everything that is wrong with modern movies, Hollywood, and filmmaking. Movies like this are checkbox movies. Movies that have no real originality, are filled with cliched characters who are there to be archetypes with very little personality. And are movies filled with copious amounts of Easter eggs and callbacks to older movies that are infinitely better because they have to ride on their coattails. And people wonder why I am not excited for movie anymore, and why I refuse to give Hollywood my money anymore!
It's a mixed bag until the ending, that third act just anchors it down hard especially back to back with the "Get away from her." reference. The new Hybrid's design and uncanny CGI Ian Holm were so distracting.
The only positive of Romulus is the people who designed and built the sets. The colony and the space station is a top class set design. Such a pity the creative end is so bad, terrible script, terrible sequences, stuff that makes no sense. Ash the android's mouth movement is laughable. Hollywood needs to find some new writers, badly.

And now this... I hated this movie. The only remarkable thing about it is the amount of laziness in it. Shit characters (aside from Andy) who are boring, bland and with one dude being an absolute toxic dump of a human being, bringing Ian Holm back with a shitty cgi... Oh yeah! Because It worked so well for Ghostbusters afterlife! Which was another lazy, nostalgia masturbating crock of shit. The only "new"thing they did is that xenomorph-human hybrid. Which is a retread of another alien movie! Yeah, let's rip off one if the worst films in the franchise, that says it all about "filmmaking" nowadays. I KNEW from the moment the trailer came out it would be Prey 2.0. It comes out, people praise it to the tenth power, call it the best since the original(Aliens in this case) and now they will make more films like this for other franchises. And, wow! I was right! Maybe I'm just too old to get it. Well, I wouldn't say 24 is old... But fuck this movie. Fuck Shitney. Like Fabio said: "Stop making movies!"
I mean I do have some of the actual “original” Disney movies including Black Hole and TRON, but I would prefer either of those before the remakes Disney makes today
Saw it in the theater and it was what I already knew. Boring and ripping off all the other films. It is Halloween 2018. No likable characters except for Andy. So infuriating that they had steal dialogue, music and moments from other films in the franchise. This has to stop.

Prometheus on they have spent so much time trying to make the android character interesting that they completely forgot how to make the entire cast of humans as well. This is the strategy now. Look at Twisters... you can literally put that film up against the original and have a beat-for-beat recreation. The studios have no balls. They take these mega properties and then the boardroom tries to figure out how to appeal to both a new and legacy audience. Rather than create something original, they hand these writers the successful script like it's "Mom's Brownie" recipe, and say do this but slightly obscure it. It's lazy. It lacks creativity. Nothing made like this will ever last beyond the few months it has marketing. Create new shit, or don't bother. As someone who's worked for 3 major studios, I have no faith that the Hollywood machine will ever return to greatness.
Twisters wasn't great but I guarantee its still better than Romulus. At least it didn't bring back a CGI Bill Paxton as a cheap memberberry cameo. That movie's biggest flaw is that its called Twisters. It should've just been a new IP and while it would still get compared to Twister for how similar it is at least it would've been its own potential new franchise. Unfortunately everything has to be sold through something already established nowadays because Hollywood can not for the life of them take a chance on a new property.
@@LivingGhost1 I didn’t hate Twisters. I didn’t feel that Powell had the ease and charisma of Paxton. I also felt it had no true nemesis. The conflict was weak. I didn’t “hate” Romulus… there are worse Alien films. But it just gets to a point where the rehashing gets tired. It reminded me of the remake of Carpenters remake of The Thing. They should all take a page from Carpenter. You can reimagine something and make it better with a firm understanding of source, and true creativity. There’s a whole generation who will have this regurgitation be their first Alien film and that’s kinda sad.
We’re probably about the same age, and I have to admit, I’ve completely lost interest in movies over the last ten years or so. I’m just done. The current socio-political crap in them has completely turned me off. I’m too old now to waste one more second hoping I don’t get what I already know I’m gonna get with hollyweird today.
I think it's more of those weak standards the audience has. The previous movies are bad, so the new one is deemed a success because of its ripoff nostalgia bait. I wonder if this new crap style of moviemaking will stop.

The Jabronies were very much ready to defend this film, even before it came out. "No man, this is going to be the best Alien film ever!" I'd rather watch a movie with GREY Aliens instead.
There is so much good material from the Dark Horse comics, and yet every adaptation has flat out chosen to ignore it instead of doing the easy thing and just adapting it for screen.
I really don’t agree because Aliens isn’t a sequel that needed a inane retcon for a third movie to get made while Terminator 3 has a very inane ridiculous retcon to explain why Judgement Day can’t be prevented making the entire second movie entirely pointless.
Its an Average Film for the Average Film goer and there's nothing wrong with that but for people who want a little more intelligence, creativity and originality than it just doesn't work for them. I really wanted to be positive about Romulus and despite some positives like the set designs and practical Alien effects being fantastic, as an actual film it just didn't work for me. It did start off well on the Jackson's Star Colony and i really wanted to see more of that world and how Rain and Andy survived in it but after they docked on the Romulus and it became a "Best of" Alien movie, it started to go downhill very fast for me. Not only were the rest of the characters very forgettable but the dialogue at times was actually embarrassing and the fact they included the "Get your hands off her" line just summed up how devoid of ideas this film actually became.
The concept is dead. Alien was bum fucked by the very studio that financed the very first film, then, let Ridley Scott take over control of the franchise, only to send the mystery of Alien straight back to the dark ages. Alien never needed the backstory. Alien never needed Ridley Scott back either. Now, Alien Romulus lands, and it's worse than all other travesties combined since Alien: Resurrection. I have no compassion toward those who think this film, Alien Romulus, was a 'return to form' or 'the best in the franchise since Aliens'. This movie was terrible in script, and the acting just made me wince with absolute horror. Even the CGI in places looked dodgy. People who praise this film need their heads examined by a brain surgeon for how serverly blinkered they are.... There's only two Alien films that matter. Alien and Aliens.

Great review as usual, Matt! I thought the movie was such a waste of time. So many things wrong with the movie that I won't even try to list them all here. I'm surprised you liked emo andy. I thought his character sucked. His facial expression the whole 2 hour run time -----> 😔 Although I'd probably look depressed all the time if I had to be stuck with those people. lol
The movie is visually very nice and that's how it tricks people. The sets, props, and aliens look just like the original movies. It's everything else that's bad.
While that does happen from time to time, I think the bar these days is just so low that anything with a remote sense of plot and scenic gets hailed as the second coming. It speaks volumes about the current state of the industry... and the mutants running it into the ground. There are no more producers, these people are either legacy directors whose names spark attention, or MBA Marketing/Accounting types masquerading as producers that align with the studios and strong arm the artists. Until the creatives take the business back from the boardroom, this is what we get.
Alien Romulus is nothing but nostalgia berries and a cash grab. Of course the positive reviews is paid for. The youtube reviewers who give positive reviews of the movie are paid for it, get sent free 4k movies, get their videos sponsored, Get free access to the cinema and pre premiere showings, and some don't even hide it. Still, people trust them and their reviews.
I believe that the facehuggers here were bioenginnered, in the laboratory, not the original facebuggers. This is why that they seem to be faster and have a faster evolution of the embryonic stage to a baby alien within the host.
It has an Alien in the movie, so this makes it a 10/10. -Logic of the modern-day movie fan. People are just desperate to watch these franchises because their lives have become so empty due to overstimulating their brain with entertainment/dopamine. THEY NEED MORE! Gorgeous film, practical effects, sound design..wow. But, this is the last time I'm going to believe what influencers and other RUclipsrs say about a movie. I ran out on day one to see this, my expectations were so high. I was bored except for the last 20 minutes, didn't know what would happen next. Stealing lines from better films in the franchise, is lazy writing and just wrong. "Get away from her you bitch" is Ripley's line!!! 3 out of 5 for me. Prometheus was better.

I really wanted to like it. I was thinking for once, I could walk out feeling like I wasn't lied to by the fandom. That I really spent good money seeing something that truly lived up to the hype of being the best sequel since Aliens. Nowhere close to it, mind you, but pretty good. And I felt like it was getting there. Then the third act happened, and I spent the next day trying to wrap my head around WTF I just watched. Did Ridley Scott learn NOTHING from the abysmal performance of his two prequels? What made him think anybody would appreciate this? I couldn't even make sense of it; the black goo just does whatever the hell the writers want. Never mind the fact it turned that one scientist in Prometheus into a homicidal mutant turd that had to be stopped with a flamethrower. No, because according to Fede Alvaraz, it's the source of all life now! It's been a part of the Engineers all along, and both humans and Aliens came from the Engineers. Hence when that dumb pregnant girl injects herself with it, and somehow doesn't become a turd (because continuity be damned), she gives birth to an Engineer-xeno hybrid. Why? Because Alien, Engineer and human DNA are crossing, that's why! But hold the fuck on a second. Aliens have been breeding with human hosts from the very beginning. They ALWAYS crossed their own DNA with their victims. That's how they reproduce. And NONE of them in any of the older movies had the head of a dumbassed Engineer. A species that couldn't have had the black goo as its primordial origin anyway, because Prometheus literally had it KILL one of those guys in its opening. Fuck this movie. And fuck this fandom for talking down on others for not giving it unconditional praise. Even Star Wars fans are better than that.

Covenant totally soured me of any further installments I didn't even bother with this. Either take cues from the Dark Horse Comics or let this franchise die. Romulus is what you get when you put Alien and Aliens together and make a totally new movie. Totally original! Just stick to the first two films.

How are you supposed to find an Alien body in the vast expanse of space, far from any planet, when it’s known since the first film that Aliens have hardly any thermal signature because their body temperature becomes whatever their ambient environment is? Can you imagine a Zenomorph crew of surgeons and nurses? Like them doing experiments and mixing DNA samples with beakers and the Vile Spindel thing..They all have green aprons and the head and surgical mask getup,but their phallic heads are poking out the back and second mouth and all the drool Making a mess all over the desk.The table with the the computers and microscopes, and samples. The puddles all over the floor. They try and put on those rubber gloves to transport the facehuggers in the things staart whipping off into anothers face while its weird webbed tube fingers try to mix drip drop viles real close to its head..The glove hits its face and the viles shatter and they start getting frustrated. The gear starts flying off and begin slipping and smashing containers with face huggers fermenting..
The pulse rifle was the only star in this movie .. I’m 51 , ex film student and well .. my hackles only got exited with the pulse rifle and its cinema sound .. that was it !! I paid £13 to here a pulse rifle for like 3 mins

I would have been happy with a beat for beat remake of the original movie but instead we got a boring fan movie. This was basically “I know what that is” the movie.
It was definitely a greatest hits. I did like the sets and art direction. And I like that the space station was slowly getting destroyed while orbiting the asteroid belt. I'll agree most of the characters had no depth. My biggest issue was the newborn. People hated the newborn in Resurrection, but I'd take it over this any day. It looked like Jack Skellington and the spider toy girl from Toy Story had a bastard child.
Maybe in _Aliens 0.5,_ they'll crash on Fury 161 and establish a pre-prison colony, which will be revealed as a new Wayward-YouGoney Space Jockey goo research facility where they experiment on double Y dudes.
Its biggest fault? It was damn boring. A group of teenagers try to scavenge a derelict spaceship and an alien kills them all. Yeah, that's the main plot.

Rather watch the alien rip off movies than this like galaxy of terror or lifeforce which had creativity but this did not it was the same repeats you’ve seen before.
Just got home from seeing it at the theater. 9:15 I believe I saw an atmosphere processor in the background in the beginning. 😉 38:38 They do make clear magazines you can see-through to tell how many bullets you have left. As for the electric counter, they did make a working one for replica pulse rifles/Thompson submachinegun. Though, I think when you put in a magazine, it resets to its max count, then goes down every trigger pull. So, it doesn't really keep track of how many bullets you have left in the magazine, so if you put in a mag that isn't fully loaded, the counter will still start at the max count.
I know we have our differences in regards to Alien 3 and Alien :Covenant, but I’m with you on this one man. I enjoyed most of the 1st and 2nd acts, although it did seem like a rehash of the first two in many parts with a few too many callbacks for my taste. The twist at the end however just completely killed any joy I had of the movie leading up to that point . I’m not really sure why, the Director/writer of this film thought that was a good direction to go in. Also, yeah, the movie is getting a lot of good praise and a lot of people seem to like the “twist” so I have a feeling we’re gonna be in the minority on this one, but I was not a fan. Overall, I left pretty disappointed, and this is coming from a guy that actually enjoys the prequels even.
Finally.....someone whos falling it what it is. Because i was thinking it was justme and i was in the twilight zone. so sick of it. The "fans" lap it up and that why this is all we keep getting.

The actors are the major problem in all these new Alien/predator movies. They are pretty much all unknown, bland choices that are hired because they are cheap and none of them have personality to carry the movie when the monster is not on the screen. Compare with the older Alien/Predator movies, you had recognizable, star names amongst the casts. Arnie, Carl Weathers, Sigourney, Lance Henrikson, Bill Paxton (x2), Danny Glover, Gary Busey, etc. These new franchises need to start hiring A-list actors to make them less boring.

I mean people kept asking me if I was excited for Romulus and I told them "No. It's not that it looks bad, just that the trailer didn't impress me. It jus looks like a bog standard, by the numbers Alien plot." My friends remained optimistic about it, but at least they understood what I meant, they were like "Yeah, it doesn't seem like it's reinventing the wheel, exactly. But I'm still holding out for it." Well, good for them, I guess.
I agree with pretty much everything you said, I still thought it was a decent movie overall though. Im glad Im not the only one who couldnt understand what the hell that british bloke was saying, Im just sitting there thinking can the aliens just kill this guy already, so annoying. I think because I hated covenant probably about as much as you hate this movie, I was pretty happy with the visuals and the fan service, Ill take it at this point. Characters couldnt have been more forgettable, except for the android and the main girl I thought was alright actually.
This may be the very first Alien film that I actually don't like I actually didn't like this LMAO I think they mainly just brought back the heavy use of practical effects so that everyone will magically love the film but that's just what I think xddd This movie sucked, I didn't like it :p I didn't care for the characters, even the Hybrids design I didn't like, I thought it wasn't that cool, and I think the references were kind of... cringe, I didn't get excited from them. I haven't seen the movie for me I'm not bothered by sequels doing call backs or some fan service. It just all comes down to how well it's executed and if the movies execution is good enough to where it feels like it has some more going on. I get the idea for this movie combining Alien and Aliens. Those are 2 most popular Alien films so it makes sense to me they would want to combine both films and try to mesh them together. I agree with you about the Ash character returning that is way to much fan service and shrinks the universe. I don't see it as the dead actor returning just the character to me. But yes I agree with you it wasn't needed from what I have seen of the movies plot. I'm not sure people think you hate every film I think they believe you are harder on some films then others. But I think a defense for that would be you expect more from an Alien film then a Beverly Hills Cop flick. That and there's been like what 7 Alien movies and there's only been 4 Beverly Hills Cops so most of what could be done with the Alien has been done. This film is doing really well so now there talking about doing a new AVP film after this and Prey did so well.

It was awful. I can't even start to describe how I feel about the hybrid's design at the end. The only thing this movie did right was to inject a bit of sense in Ridley's black goo mess. That and the two main characters who are kinda likeable. Other than that...wow, what a pile of shieeeet.

I KNEW from the moment the trailer came out it would be Prey 2.0. It comes out, people praise it to the tenth power, call it the best since the original(Aliens in this case) and now they will make more films like this for other franchises. And, wow! I was right!

Saw it in the theater and it was what I already knew. Boring and ripping off all the other films. It is Halloween 2018. No likable characters except for Andy. So infuriating that they had steal dialogue, music and moments from other films in the franchise. This has to stop.

This is the strategy now. Look at Twisters... you can literally put that film up against the original and have a beat-for-beat recreation. The studios have no balls. They take these mega properties and then the boardroom tries to figure out how to appeal to both a new and legacy audience. Rather than create something original, they hand these writers the successful script like it's "Mom's Brownie" recipe, and say do this but slightly obscure it. It's lazy. It lacks creativity. Nothing made like this will ever last beyond the few months it has marketing. Create new shit, or don't bother. As someone who's worked for 3 major studios, I have no faith that the Hollywood machine will ever return to greatness.

Twisters wasn't great but I guarantee its still better than Romulus. At least it didn't bring back a CGI Bill Paxton as a cheap memberberry cameo. That movie's biggest flaw is that its called Twisters. It should've just been a new IP and while it would still get compared to Twister for how similar it is at least it would've been its own potential new franchise. Unfortunately everything has to be sold through something already established nowadays because Hollywood can not for the life of them take a chance on a new property.

I didn’t “hate” Romulus… there are worse Alien films. But it just gets to a point where the rehashing gets tired. It reminded me of the remake of Carpenters remake of The Thing. They should all take a page from Carpenter. You can reimagine something and make it better with a firm understanding of source, and true creativity. There’s a whole generation who will have this regurgitation be their first Alien film and that’s kinda sad.

Its an Average Film for the Average Film goer and there's nothing wrong with that but for people who want a little more intelligence, creativity and originality than it just doesn't work for them.
I really wanted to be positive about Romulus and despite some positives like the set designs and practical Alien effects being fantastic, as an actual film it just didn't work for me. It did start off well on the Jackson's Star Colony and i really wanted to see more of that world and how Rain and Andy survived in it but after they docked on the Romulus and it became a "Best of" Alien movie, it started to go downhill very fast for me. Not only were the rest of the characters very forgettable but the dialogue at times was actually embarrassing and the fact they included the "Get your hands off her" line just summed up how devoid of ideas this film actually became.
"Chap-GPT..... please watch all the Alien movies and write a new script..... Alien: Romulus? Great title!" And so it happened.

These highly-rated revIews seemed very suspicious to me. I like to think these are paid reviews.
The movie is visually very nice and that's how it tricks people. The sets, props, and aliens look just like the original movies. It's everything else that's bad.
While that does happen from time to time, I think the bar these days is just so low that anything with a remote sense of plot and scenic gets hailed as the second coming. It speaks volumes about the current state of the industry... and the mutants running it into the ground. There are no more producers, these people are either legacy directors whose names spark attention, or MBA Marketing/Accounting types masquerading as producers that align with the studios and strong arm the artists. Until the creatives take the business back from the boardroom, this is what we get.

It's been a trend in the later films for the incubation period to be accelerated. It was the same in Covenant and AVP.
It has an Alien in the movie, so this makes it a 10/10. -Logic of the modern-day movie fan.

Gorgeous film, practical effects, sound design..wow. But, this is the last time I'm going to believe what influencers and other RUclipsrs say about a movie. I ran out on day one to see this, my expectations were so high. I was bored except for the last 20 minutes, didn't know what would happen next. Stealing lines from better films in the franchise, is lazy writing and just wrong. "Get away from her you bitch" is Ripley's line!!! 3 out of 5 for me. Prometheus was better.

It was so boring I was reading about the ingredients in my chocolate bar.
I really wanted to like it. I was thinking for once, I could walk out feeling like I wasn't lied to by the fandom. That I really spent good money seeing something that truly lived up to the hype of being the best sequel since Aliens. Nowhere close to it, mind you, but pretty good. And I felt like it was getting there. Then the third act happened, and I spent the next day trying to wrap my head around WTF I just watched.
Did Ridley Scott learn NOTHING from the abysmal performance of his two prequels? What made him think anybody would appreciate this? I couldn't even make sense of it; the black goo just does whatever the hell the writers want. Never mind the fact it turned that one scientist in Prometheus into a homicidal mutant turd that had to be stopped with a flamethrower.
No, because according to Fede Alvaraz, it's the source of all life now! It's been a part of the Engineers all along, and both humans and Aliens came from the Engineers. Hence when that dumb pregnant girl injects herself with it, and somehow doesn't become a turd (because continuity be damned), she gives birth to an Engineer-xeno hybrid. Why? Because Alien, Engineer and human DNA are crossing, that's why!
But hold the fuck on a second. Aliens have been breeding with human hosts from the very beginning. They ALWAYS crossed their own DNA with their victims. That's how they reproduce. And NONE of them in any of the older movies had the head of a dumbassed Engineer. A species that couldn't have had the black goo as its primordial origin anyway, because Prometheus literally had it KILL one of those guys in its opening.
Fuck this movie. And fuck this fandom for talking down on others for not giving it unconditional praise. Even Star Wars fans are better than that.

How are you supposed to find an Alien body in the vast expanse of space, far from any planet, when it’s known since the first film that Aliens have hardly any thermal signature because their body temperature becomes whatever their ambient environment is? It reaches the absurdity of a huge chunk of the Death Star (or was is Second Death Star?) still intact in a separate Star System light years away. It’s a case of making the universe small

Can you imagine a Zenomorph crew of surgeons and nurses? Like them doing experiments and mixing DNA samples with beakers and the Vile Spindel thing..They all have green aprons and the head and surgical mask getup,but their phallic heads are poking out the back and second mouth and all the drool Making a mess all over the desk.The table with the the computers and microscopes, and samples. The puddles all over the floor. They try and put on those rubber gloves to transport the facehuggers in the things staart whipping off into anothers face while its weird webbed tube fingers try to mix drip drop viles real close to its head..The glove hits its face and the viles shatter and they start getting frustrated. The gear starts flying off and begin slipping and smashing containers with face huggers fermenting..
The pulse rifle was the only star in this movie .. I’m 51 , ex film student and well .. my hackles only got exited with the pulse rifle and its cinema sound .. that was it !! I paid £13 to here a pulse rifle for like 3 mins
Of course people are desperate to praise a new alien film since as long as it’s better than the previous films, then they will praise it like it’s a game changer and comeback for the franchise.

I would have been happy with a beat for beat remake of the original movie but instead we got a boring fan movie. This was basically “I know what that is” the movie.
It was definitely a greatest hits. I did like the sets and art direction. And I like that the space station was slowly getting destroyed while orbiting the asteroid belt.
I'll agree most of the characters had no depth. My biggest issue was the newborn. People hated the newborn in Resurrection, but I'd take it over this any day. It looked like Jack Skellington and the spider toy girl from Toy Story had a bastard child.
Maybe in _Aliens 0.5,_ they'll crash on Fury 161 and establish a pre-prison colony, which will be revealed as a new Wayward-YouGoney Space Jockey goo research facility where they experiment on double Y dudes.

As for the electric counter, they did make a working one for replica pulse rifles/Thompson submachinegun. Though, I think when you put in a magazine, it resets to its max count, then goes down every trigger pull. So, it doesn't really keep track of how many bullets you have left in the magazine, so if you put in a mag that isn't fully loaded, the counter will still start at the max count.

I know we have our differences in regards to Alien 3 and Alien :Covenant, but I’m with you on this one man. I enjoyed most of the 1st and 2nd acts, although it did seem like a rehash of the first two in many parts with a few too many callbacks for my taste. The twist at the end however just completely killed any joy I had of the movie leading up to that point . I’m not really sure why, the Director/writer of this film thought that was a good direction to go in. Also, yeah, the movie is getting a lot of good praise and a lot of people seem to like the “twist” so I have a feeling we’re gonna be in the minority on this one, but I was not a fan. Overall, I left pretty disappointed, and this is coming from a guy that actually enjoys the prequels even.

The actors are the major problem in all these new Alien/predator movies. They are pretty much all unknown, bland choices that are hired because they are cheap and none of them have personality to carry the movie when the monster is not on the screen. Compare with the older Alien/Predator movies, you had recognizable, star names amongst the casts. Arnie, Carl Weathers, Sigourney, Lance Henrikson, Bill Paxton (x2), Danny Glover, Gary Busey, etc. These new franchises need to start hiring A-list actors to make them less boring.

I think because I hated covenant probably about as much as you hate this movie, I was pretty happy with the visuals and the fan service, Ill take it at this point. Characters couldnt have been more forgettable, except for the android and the main girl I thought was alright actually.
I haven't seen Aliens 2 since the late 80s. I stopped there figuring nothing could top it. I was right.

I think they mainly just brought back the heavy use of practical effects so that everyone will magically love the film but that's just what I think xddd

I didn't care for the characters, even the Hybrids design I didn't like, I thought it wasn't that cool, and I think the references were kind of... cringe, I didn't get excited from them. The only things I rooted for was the xenomorphs.

I don’t hate the film but I’m not very sure on it in terms of story.
I haven't seen the movie for me I'm not bothered by sequels doing call backs or some fan service. It just all comes down to how well it's executed and if the movies execution is good enough to where it feels like it has some more going on. I get the idea for this movie combining Alien and Aliens. Those are 2 most popular Alien films so it makes sense to me they would want to combine both films and try to mesh them together. I agree with you about the Ash character returning that is way to much fan service and shrinks the universe. I don't see it as the dead actor returning just the character to me. But yes I agree with you it wasn't needed from what I have seen of the movies plot. I'm not sure people think you hate every film I think they believe you are harder on some films then others. But I think a defense for that would be you expect more from an Alien film then a Beverly Hills Cop flick. That and there's been like what 7 Alien movies and there's only been 4 Beverly Hills Cops so most of what could be done with the Alien has been done. This film is doing really well so now there talking about doing a new AVP film after this and Prey did so well.

It was awful. I can't even start to describe how I feel about the hybrid's design at the end. The only thing this movie did right was to inject a bit of sense in Ridley's black goo mess. That and the two main characters who are kinda likeable. Other than that...wow, what a pile of shieeeet.

Seriously I’m not surprised. I had no hope for this and so far I’ve been proven right from what I heard. And of course just yesterday I had an argument in the comments of a post on Instagram where I said I had no confidence in the new alien film and said I’ve been burned too many times and I think the director Fede Álvarez is so overrated and this guy gets offended by my comment telling me “who hurt you” and then goes on to tell me how good this director is and how good the evil dead remake was. Well guess what dude you won’t change my mind! Fede Álvarez is an overrated director and alien romulus, evil dead, and don’t breathe aren’t that good. Get over it. Nice rant Matt
