@@digitalworms That's an awesome memory my dude, thank you for sharing it with me. I'm glad you have such love for the original Metal gear game! Because of that game a lot of us were able to get into the series, it differently deserves more praise.
I remember when I played through every game in order on the PS3 Legacy collection in a week, 2 was the one that really stood out to me for some reason. 4 was epic and was my first time playing the whole thing but that game is like more of a third person shooter than a stealth game. And what do you mean the PS3 is more powerful than the 360? Based on what? At first I disappointed with the new voice actor in 5 but after finishing the game it made sense.
MGS1 is the greatest game of all time. 2 started great but the switch to Raiden weakens it a bit.. MGS3 was great also but some of the additional game play tasks and features while cool on paper made the game a little tedious.
Agreed. I also felt the switch to the more open environments hurts 3 (and beyond) The claustrophobia and limited options i felt better served the story. Made the game feel more cohesive and more like a movie you played than a game (in a good way)
@@PJP-DJP Which is why it works so well. It sold you on the idea or the meme of playing as Snake, but it lied to you like how the Patriots lied to Raiden.
Metal gear solid 3 is the perfect video game and perfect "product " . Metal gear solid 2 is by far the best game kojima had ever made . Im not even talking about the technical leap from 1 to 2 .
3:11 Metal Gear Solid has one of the the greatest voice acting of all time. no doubt about it. 5:36 controls are not that great? I'm sorry, that's how the controls must be. All you need to control a character is there. Then what you say about Elden Ring controls? its risky to say "they are bad" right?, all that "delayed actions" and "I PUSHED DODGE"... ? this specific agility of the character is badly missing with the new generation of third person games. MGS1 controls have no lags, Snake is nimble and responsive, compare to MGS3, they are absolute perfection. 5:42 It might not look that great? That's DSP level review. this game is the definition of looking great with minimum polygons. It is ground breaking by all definitions. Please notice that I'm not a MGS or Kojima fanboy. MGS2 and 3 disappointed me when they came out. Peace Walker and Portable ops are just bad, MGS4 tried hard. Phantom Pain gained my respect back. 5:51 Twin snakes is a failure in every aspect. Again, more polygons, worse visuals. TS looks awful. Its an insult to the original game on only the visual aspects. 6:41 You failed to mention how bad this new snake looks. The new model is terrible visually. I'm certainly not the only one who notices that. 7:10 the plastic looking characters is something that is not talked about enough. People in MGS2 look like Sims 1 characters. and you didn't mention it. MGS1 did great to not to have a cartoonish look. 10:05 controls of MGS2 haven't changed one bit, how did they improve? Apart from the fact that picking corners are much slower and cause you prone to detection by enemies. Followed by punching in the nuts and other embarrassing mentions. It did NOT improve. 21:28 apart from the convoluted story, everything else downgraded in MGS2. The set up, The environment, The atmosphere, the visuals (more polygons, ugly visuals), the music, the sound effects, characters, the voice acting, even Snake...etc...everything got downgraded. How on earth you call this an improvement? you were VERY wrong on this one. P.S. MGS games is clearly not your jam and its fine. This series is not made for everyone. The creators targeted a specific group of audience from the beginning. We can see it from the follow up Death Stranding 1 and 2. This needs a lot of analysis and explanation. Its completely fine that one individual couldn't digest everything about it by just playing them. That's the point you young generation is missing, the artistic part. for the reasons that are extremely difficult to explain to your audience, all things considered, MGS1 is definitely the greatest video game ever made.
Hey man, I can see you're a big fan of MGS 1 and I respect that. Honestly, I felt like I gave MGS 1 a bad wrap with this video and should have talked more about it 6 minutes was way too short of a time to talk about it. I think for the time MGS 1 easily had the best voice acting on the ps1 hands down. However, the voice acting absolutely improved in later games, at least the English voices I've never played in any other language. Listen to how Colonel Campbell sounds in MGS 1 and then listen to MGS 2, In mgs 1 he sounds more timid, like the actor playing him doesn't know what this character is supposed to be or sound like, yet in MGS 2 he sounds more natural and free flowing, don't get me started on Mei Ling. To me, Mgs 1's controls are stiff. I mean just running up the stairs and shooting down at the enemies behind snake was a nightmare, let alone trying to line up a shot from far away thankfully the devs added an auto-aim, for all I know it could be because I was playing on a six axis controller or I'm just bad at it you be the judge, of course for time the game was released I'm sure they're fine. I don't think Snake controls better in MGS 1 than in any other MGS game I've played when trying to choke out an enemy. Often times I find myself passing them up and getting spotted like I did in the video or just ending up at the side of them.away. Thankfully, Yeah, I agree saying it didn't look good is a bad take. The game looks good for the time it was released and on the hardware it was released on, the beginning cut scene alone is beautifully done, visually it's impressive for what it released on. Dude, I don't care if your a MGS fanboy or not lmao, enjoy the games you like, I wont get mad, I'm just a dude on the internet. If you love MGS 1 and hate all the other games, totally fine! More power to you. I've never played Twin Snakes. This video was made for a friend of mine who has never played any MGS game besides MGS 5, I'm letting them know if they think MGS 1 is ugly go play Twin Snakes. If it plays worse, that's the trade off they choose. Who cares? You can play the orignal MGS and have fun. I thought the characters look good in MGS2, it's the advantage new hardware brings, you work with what you have MGS 1 half of the characters don't have eyes due to the limitations of the console. In MGS 2 & 3 you can see emotion on the character's faces if that's the cost of a "more cartoonish" look I'll gladly pay it. So I think the controls improved just by having a collision with enemies, being able to bump into them instead of just phasing through, you can do a combo jab in MGS1 but being too close to an enemy again just pushes you through them causing an alert, MGS 2 fixes this, but you're also given a roll (or flip for Raiden) that you can use to run into anyone or or jump small gaps to enter different area, this was such a good idea it was used up until MGS 5, you also get extra camera control, But I can't count that against MGS 1 because it could've been the hardware limitations that didn't make it possible. Honestly, I think MGS 2 improved almost everything from MGS 1. The character swap is one that pisses everyone off, but once you're over that, you find more emotional acting, just compare when Sniper wolf died vs E.E, again could be because of hardware, or it could be because of actors learning their roles better, but I think MGS 2 did it better. Sure you can say the environment in MGS 1 is better than 2, you differently have more variety of indoor outdoor locations, but the environments in mgs gives more to poke around in, hide in lockers, bathroom stalls, jump over ledges or railings, swimming under water (that one annoys a lot of people) but you have a wide variety of things to do in MGS 2 also. To say "you're very wrong" for not saying MGS 1 is the best game in the world because I like it, is childish.I don't care if Hideo gave up his arm to make MGS 1 I like MGS 2 better and to say "it's not your jam" is weird too. Relax guy, you like Mgs 1 I think that's fantastic. You go and enjoy MGS 1 It's not gonna bother me one bit. Hell talk about how MGS 1 is much better than all the other mgs games too, I really don't mind, but to say "YOUR WRONG FOR LIKING THIS MORE THAN THAT" like really dude? Enjoy your video game and let others enjoy theirs.
I would rate it Mgs 4, 3, 5, 2, 1 My favorite is Mgs 4 it wraps up the story perfectly and leaves no loose ends which I what I wanted that's y I didn't mind the cuts-scenes. Without 4 mgs 2 just leaves you Without any answers. Mgs 5 has best game play but worst story. So I would say from best to worst in my opinion.
For me? It's this from greatest to I don't like at all. 1. MGS2 SOL (My all time favorite in the series) 2. MGS3 SE (My second favorite in the series) 3. MGS1 (I find it to be a masterpiece) 4. MGS4 GOTP (I don't love it as much as the first three Solid games but I still find it to also be a masterpiece) 5. MGR Revengance (Best non canon MG game to me) 6. MG2 SS (Definitely a great game that set the standard for the Solid series) 7. MG1 (MSX) (Really good game even if it's dated and is frustrating at times) 8. MGS PW (Don't really like this one at all) 9. MGS5 GZ/TPP (Think this one is the WORST in the series)
Metal gear can be divided in multiple topics and every metal gear is better than othe metal gear in one topic but not another Mgs1 is a classic all round great game Mgs2 has the best meta narrative of all videogames Mg3 has the best plot and pace, the best James bond games mixed with the pov of a blind soldier Mgs4 is ok but has some of the best cuts cents in the saga ( maybe because it was all cinematics) Mgsv has the best gameplay/gamefeel of any stealth accion to date all the installments have some reediming qualities that make the worth playing them again

@@AGhostNamedGrimm Man the NES version I have alot of fond memories of! If I had access to the msx version as a kid I'd prolly love it more! I got metal gear in 1988 or 1989 for Christmas I think it was! The msx version I didn't even know about it till I was about 20 years old lol
@@digitalworms That's an awesome memory my dude, thank you for sharing it with me. I'm glad you have such love for the original Metal gear game! Because of that game a lot of us were able to get into the series, it differently deserves more praise.
I respect your opinion
MGS3, MGS4, MGS2, MGS5, MGS1
Made the game feel more cohesive and more like a movie you played than a game (in a good way)
@ryanpeck3377 while i am happy about MGS3 remake, 1 is what really needs a remake badly
The Switch to Raiden goes in hand with the plot about misinformation. It's perfect
@Soup-man still takes away from the game. Solid Snake is who we want, no one wants to play as Raiden
@@PJP-DJP Which is why it works so well. It sold you on the idea or the meme of playing as Snake, but it lied to you like how the Patriots lied to Raiden.
Is that a fuckin Elemental gimmick gear ost?
A man of culture I see
None, the entire metal gear franchise is perfect.
Exception:Snake's Revenge and survive
MGS1 did great to not to have a cartoonish
look.
Thankfully,
Yeah, I agree saying it didn't look good is a bad take.
Most say mgs3, for music mgs1 takes the cake, my favorite as games is a hard toss up between 2 and 4, 5 and 5 are absolutely hot garbage though
Nice troll. But then again they couldnt all be first.
Top 3 for me would be: MGS1 > MG2 > MGS2
I would rate it Mgs 4, 3, 5, 2, 1 My favorite is Mgs 4 it wraps up the story perfectly and leaves no loose ends which I what I wanted that's y I didn't mind the cuts-scenes. Without 4 mgs 2 just leaves you Without any answers. Mgs 5 has best game play but worst story. So I would say from best to worst in my opinion.
MGS2 FTW by far
Bit of a weak closer but its better than picking mgs3 so well done
MGS1 no debate might be one of best games of all time
Am I the only one who thinks that AI or a similar version is being used today
For me? It's this from greatest to I don't like at all.
1. MGS2 SOL (My all time favorite in the series)
2. MGS3 SE (My second favorite in the series)
3. MGS1 (I find it to be a masterpiece)
4. MGS4 GOTP (I don't love it as much as the first three Solid games but I still find it to also be a masterpiece)
5. MGR Revengance (Best non canon MG game to me)
6. MG2 SS (Definitely a great game that set the standard for the Solid series)
7. MG1 (MSX) (Really good game even if it's dated and is frustrating at times)
8. MGS PW (Don't really like this one at all)
9. MGS5 GZ/TPP (Think this one is the WORST in the series)
I would say 3,1,5,2,4 respectively. Although I think 4 is the worst main entry game in the series I would give that game a solid 9.2
All of them
Man we gotta get MGS4 off the PS3 already. What the hell is Konami doing?
Story wise MGS 1. Best gameplay MGSV
Peace Walker
Portable ops so good it’s not even on the list lol
Why are you afraid of saying "diazepam"? That's the drug snake takes to steady his hands by the way.
Metal gear can be divided in multiple topics and every metal gear is better than othe metal gear in one topic but not another
Mgs1 is a classic all round great game
Mgs2 has the best meta narrative of all videogames
Mg3 has the best plot and pace, the best James bond games mixed with the pov of a blind soldier
Mgs4 is ok but has some of the best cuts cents in the saga ( maybe because it was all cinematics)
Mgsv has the best gameplay/gamefeel of any stealth accion to date
all the installments have some reediming qualities that make the worth playing them again
You talking about MGS2 is funny as’f cuz didn’t know vamp is bi and piping the colonel
You left out portable Ops shame on you, i completely understand that you dont talk the Acid games but portable ops was worthy of speaking about it. It was a very good game
I just found out Portable Ops was canon like 72 hours ago, come on now lmao.
@@AGhostNamedGrimm that means nothing though game is better than peacewalker to be honest, what's with the sarcasm come on now, you know portable ops is more a metal gear solid game than peace walker, Canon or not hideo kojima produced it.
@@eltinoskimota I wouldn't know if Portable ops is better than Peace walker because I never played it. I was after canon games, and Portable Ops sits on the fence of being canon and not, It might be more similar to past MGS games than PW, but it's because of PW that MGS 5 was able to have a lot of the features it had. I said in the video I started MGS when the HD collection came out, and someone at Konami or Kojima must have liked Peace Walker more than Portable Ops because that's the one that was included in the HD collection. Kojima may have produced it but he didn't direct it like all of the other canon MGS games.
@@AGhostNamedGrimm portable ops had the recruit soldiers 1st and if we speak on the soldiers they are truly unique, I suggest you download it and play it on the emulator, you will see what I'm talking about after
@@AGhostNamedGrimm Just to let you know I'm not hating nor arguing, I'm a fan of the whole franchise I despise mgs5 but the truth is it obviously has the best controls and gameplay its just the story that makes it wack and that is peacewalkers fault
You can beat msg 1 without killing people. Saying that MGS 2 is the first game to do so because of the access of a tranquilizer sounds like a skill issue
Don't call me out in front of the other MGS fans, they'll find out I'm weak.
Mgs 3 is the best but of they remastered mgs 1 in todays graphics then that would be number 1 easily
MGS3 has the best story!
3
Venom the best!
Mgs v is the best. But mgs 1 is the most special for me
3 is best
Solid 1, 2, and 3 are the real keepers. 4 and 5 aren't bad, just bloated, overrated, and forgettable
2, 5, 1, 3, 4
mgs3 is best the most of all
Hot take: MGSV is the best
MGS3 is the best
mgs2
Mgs ps1
Portable Ops should've been on here, and considered canon tbh. Story better than PW
I never played Portable Ops and had no idea it was canon. Definitely going to check it out!
Mgs3
The best one is V and revengeance, the rest are ass to play on console, first person aiming is so sloppy, as well as the control mapping generally. Delta if it has the same or better gameplay as V then that's a good contender for best mgs game. Yes I don't care about story as much, gameplay is key for a good videogame. Ain't even a debate.
