Star Trek ENTERPRISE II CGI & VFX

    3 years ago we were almost done with our CGI & VFX. Thus, after almost 8 years of production, the film was in perfection. At that time only the music and the color correction were missing.
    If you now put all CGI & VFX next to each other, you get over 18 minutes movie length. So almost half of the movie is CGI & VFX.

    It was confusing but it did make sense after the wormhole warp tunnel. Took the nx-01 to the time where earth took over the vulcans and others and then got back to there time line. Mixed with from alt timeline of future ships. But the introduction was awesome. Only thing the enterprise nx-01 needed was shields and phasers arrays would have been a thought with a warp speed of about 6.2.

    Here's the narrative:
    During the Dominion war, a small group within Section 31 experimented with time travel in the hopes of gaining a strategic advantage in a conflict that was looking more desperate by the day. Unfortunately, the changelings had infiltrated even this most secretive effort, and were successful in commandeering some of the involved spacecraft, which had been borrowed from a few timelines and outfitted with the experimental devices. The devices showed some promise but were largely unpredictable and unstable.
    For several weeks, confusion reigned supreme as the Section 31 commanders were not able to tell their colleagues apart from the changelings. Each ship did not know the intentions of the commanding officer of the other, and the crews were entirely in the dark on the whole operation - and could not understand why they were in armed conflict with other Starfleet vessels. What took place was a wild chase in several systems and several timelines where it was not clear who was chasing who and who had the upper hand.
    The turning point came when the Enterprise NX-01, while in the 26th century, went searching through a certain asteroid field on the basis of rumors from a regional merchant group. They managed to find a 26th-century Teleorite outpost tucked deep within an asteroid. Recognizing the peril facing the entire Alpha quadrant at this point, the Teleorites gave the human visitors technology to distinguish changeling from human.
    After one last showdown, most vessel in the original project were destroyed and the NX-01 headed back to the timeline of the project, the late 24th century. Although the experiment was officially recorded as a failure, a few who survived the battle were aware of the potential of the technology and began top secret work on more stable implementation.

    Very good effects and designs. The stop-motion action figure effects were well done too. As a demonstration of ability it's extremely good work. If you actually want to produce something entertaining, then you may want to enlist the help of a friend or collaborator to write a more focused and linear plotline for your next venture. I've written for over 30 years, and I'm sure there's any number of people that would happily couple their skills with your own to produce a truly unique and wonderfully crafted video. Once again, your visual effects and work are extremely good. Take care and have fun...

    Well, it's some gorgeous eye candy, apart from the stop motion figures, but it has no internal narrative that makes any sense. It's clear that a great deal of work has gone into this, but it fails to engage the viewer. As a consequence I was mostly puzzled over what was supposed to be happening. Secondly, it doesn't seem to settle on one style, one moment looking like Star Trek, the next Star Wars, and the next Battlestar Galactica. On the whole I was largely given the impression that it was a bunch of video game cut scenes, but without any of the story to link them.

    It's sad that the trend in ST is for ships to become more and more streamlined even though there is absolutely no requirement to do so in outer space. The more ADVANCED races machinery and transport mechanisms pay no heed to being streamlined as did the ORIGINAL ST. Today's ST ships are flattened and boring because of this trend and the alien ships which pay this no heed have much more entertaining ships altogether.

    • @dantheman1337
      @dantheman1337 4 года назад +1

      It does still make sense:
      A) entering a planets atmosphere
      B) to reduce profile of ship to shield when travelling at high speed. Even in space there are small particles.
      What doesnt work in space is all the banking and other moves which rely on air deflection.
      My pet peeve is " all stop". Stop relative to what? Half the time, nothing.

    • @BarbaraA.MertzRN-CCRN
      @BarbaraA.MertzRN-CCRN 4 года назад +3

      @@dantheman1337 No, no, no. (In the ORIGINAL ST) starships never - NEVER intentionally ENTER the atmosphere That is set aside for shuttle craft and other types ships ALONE. In fact, starships are assembled while in orbit NOT on the planet. Secondly, there is NO NEED to reduce profile IN A VACUUM. Even though there are (as you stated) "small particles" the deflector dish serves the purpose of, well, DEFLECTING those small particles and a lower profile for this reason is absurd (as is - as you stated - banking). The ONLY reason to make spaceships aerodynamic LOOKING is to "LOOK COOL" which is absolutely & insanely ridiculous. The ORIGINAL Enterprise was NOT aerodynamic and was the absolute BEST designed ship to date.
      A command of "all stop" or "full stop" is a command for "station keeping" and requires thrust in the opposite direction than that initially proceeding. An "all stop" (or more correctly "station keeping") is used often in submarines to prevent the boat from proceeding, retreating, surfacing or submerging. I suspect that special astrogational navigation equipment is needed to measure the surroundings while on-board a starship in order to obtain the same or similar outcome. It is not a ridiculous command.

      The Nx-01 Enterprise is in a Kelvin timeline Mirror universe. Their arrival seems to have taken place during a rebellion or civil war by the 'subject' races of the Terran Empire.

    Interesting. The flight scenes, disjointed though they were, seemed very professional. The stop motion puppetry needs work though. Some of the mouth movements were way too fast for actual speech, while other people seemed correct. The models by Tobias Richter were wonderful. I know others worked on this as well, but I have known his work for a few years.
    Now we come to the story, or plot. There didn't seem to be one, other then a showcase for your animations. If this were a "demo reel", well and good, but label it as such.
    Over all, I rate it highly, though I wish there were a real story with dialog so we could follow along. I mean, at one point, as the Enterprise neared Earth, everyone was shooting at everyone else. It was very confusing. GOOD, but confusing. Perhaps one day you will address the coments and redo this as a fan-film with an actual story with dialog. I will keep my fingers crossed for that day. Thanks.

    Taking into consideration the vastness of space,I would be inclined to say you could travel for months without seeing another living being,least of all,another starship. There is a limit to how many can be launched within a certain timeframe,and many would be laid up for maintenance and repairs,and of course,crew changeovers. How quickly can Captains be trained,along with deck officers? Space is unforgiving,and mistakes fatal,for everybody. Rescue? By whom? Assuming a rescue signal is even heard,mounting a rescue mission could take days or weeks. Space is vast, infinite,maybe,and multidimensional,navigation would be a nightmare. Not easy. A dream which may come true one day,but certainly not in our century.

      Next time read the description ;)
      3 years ago we were almost done with our CGI & VFX. Thus, after almost 8 years of production, the film was in perfection. At that time only the music and the color correction were missing.
      If you now put all CGI & VFX next to each other, you get over 18 minutes movie length. So almost half of the movie is CGI & VFX.
