Kargil was a lesson learnt. The Kargil committee report brought out the inadequacies. Its time to move ahead and modernize the forces and give them the teeth to face the challenges which lie ahead.

Kargil was a war won by young officers of the Indian Army. Ajay covers the story exceedingly well, with passion and knowledge.

Thanks Adi for another wonderful chat on a topic which most of the Indians witnessed as it happened. My only point though is WRT the controversy behind Point 5353, I wish Col Ajay Singh educated us on where it is, what happened, under whose control it is now and what is the controversy all about!

@Double Trouble I am not interested in politics. He has served in Army. Has covered Afghanistan as journalist in situ. May be controversial. But has plethora of experience.

Do not forget the logistic support provided by the locals to win the war. They including their ponies exposed to enemy fires. They too deserve them to be named for the success of Operation Vijay....

Sir. Was there maximum mobilisation that took place during the Kargil War. We have been hearing stories about most of the batallions of the Indian Armed Forces marching for Kargil. Can you please put some light on it?

sir lt army and govt. did not want to cross LOC in 1999, in 2016 it was just reversed which show that army just toes the directions of govt of the day and l am of the firm view that hundreds of personnel would not have made the supreme sacrifice and the thousand people wounded . Army was salvaged by young officers and men and the foolish directions of the division command & corps command to pull out battalions from the kargil area brigades and deploy in valley and ladakh sucked out the fighting skill and replacing battalions like Gorkha/ JAKLI/ Raj fif were fatigued from CICT ops. what’s your comment

As per the speakers themselves, Pak had planned exactly this since Benazir s time! And India still knew nothing about it?
    Incredible inefficiency.
And did it need a super-spook to tell you that if you vacate a position( and why should you do that, for god’s sake), you need to keep a trip-wire and surveillance system to cater for it.
    We didn’t.
    Again, incredible stupidity.
Then we don’t cross LAC, even if costs death of several hundred Indians. As a fauzi, am ashamed of this decision.
Wow. Indian army and government harmed India, much more than those ragtag infiltrators who did a great job for Pakistan, but got no credit for it.

You were in the army. Why did you not do anything about it ??? You sir have a hatred to we all know what which clouds your judgement. Open your own dead channel and say what you want to. Critical thinking is not always criticising. Hope you lean this from me. Someone half your age

Was there any culpability fixed for our colossal intelligence failures? Anybody charged?

Pls read the post Kargil report. Further I am not sure many commenting here are aware that our intelligence apparatus as pretty much dismantled during the early and mid 90s. It’s only after this that the system was allowed to reset
