I love seeing the sign offs of different areas. (Being from the States, I have to say that ours totally blew chunks.) This one is one of my favourites. Hopefully I can see one from the 70s, as I remember that would be the time frame where God Save The Queen would have been used.
As far back as I can remember (early 70's), I don't ever recall CBC owned stations playing God Save The Queen during sign ons/offs. Ironically enough it was played mostly on the privately owned CTV affiliates or independent stations.
I viewed cblt on be channel 5 via TVDX E-Skip in San Pedro, California... In the 90s it wiped out KTLA in Los Angeles with a strong signal... Doing the summer and hot Days... Wow
That awkward moment when there was supposed to be a station that signed off with the Moog SSB, and then O Canada by The Royal Canadian Mounted Police Band and Soloists... Tell me who signed off with that AND what year.

@@MisterPolitical1 Yes I know. The "L" in CBLT stands for Lakes, derived from its original radio parent station CBL. The CB prefix call signs in Canada were all allocated to CBC owned and operated stations. The original CBC radio stations all had three letter call signs, with the CB prefix and then mostly the first letter of their city (CBM Montreal, CBO Ottawa, CBW Winnipeg). Subsequently the TV stations that followed had T added to the end. For whatever reason, when they allocated the call sign for Toronto, they chose CBL for "Lakes", instead of the obvious choices of CBT for Toronto (which would have made the TV station call sign CBTT) , or since it would be the network flagship, just giving it the callsign CBC (making the TV call sign CBCT.)
1:21 I liked how the canny videographer made the word "God" coincide with the crash of a Newfoundland fishing-dorry. This version of the national anthem was not always mandatory, and on military bases in the 60's and 70's we sang it in the schools as the line "O Canada, glorious and free..." As the BBC reported in 2011, Canada is one of 9 western nations where religion is to go totally extinct within 50 years. Switzerland will get rid of its God-word in its anthem by next year.

Boy she was in a hurry to read that sign off announcement...
0:11 Judging by the audio quality of the CBC Station ID, this must be a very clean VHS tape.
...and how clear the children sang! So tintinnabulous, beautiful!

This is CBC television! 📺🇨🇦📡
I love how the callsign is C *BLT*
Wonder what film chain camera CBLT would've used back then - GE PE-24/240/245's or RCA TK-27/28's?
I love the boat in the waves so much
I love the fire works at the end

Thank Your Lucky Stars from 1943.

By any chance would the sign-off from Channel 9 in Windsor as CBET or its predecessor CKLW?
It would be nice to see one earlier than 1984 that's up here.
0:16-0:47 Anyone want to know what song is used when the announcer said that CBLT is signing off?
KOMO used the star spangled banner and o Canada in 1989. You can find the video by searching for KOMO sign off.
CBLT? Canadian Bacon, Lettuce and Tomato?
+essvee86 CBLFT... All the same as above, with French dressing before the tomato.
That sounds delicious.

@excelsior27 I recall seeing this in the mid or late 80s... the kids singing "O Canada."
SuperPat88 well you could say that as it was made in 1984.

No, KOMO never used any national anthems at all (including Star-Spangled Banner)
Just a question. What was the name of the movie shown when at its conclusion had the curtains show the words "THE END"?
The movie was "Thank Your Lucky Stars" from 1943.
All TV and radio station call letters in Canada start with C.
Why does it say CBC-tor on the test pattern anyway?
I'm sure the "tor" is for "Toronto".
cblt means canadian broadcasting limited toronto

I'm going to guess that you are a Leo.
Do you have a CBC sing-off old enough to include "God Save the Queen"?
Is there a French version?
Of the kids singing the anthem? Yes
yes, on TVA
@geekgirltv2011 That's who I was asking.
