I know this sounds weird, but I'm so happy to find this. I remember staying up way late (or waking up way early) and watching this, and this just brings back my childhood.
The drawings/O canada from 2;45 onwards I recall from touring holidays in Canada of some years ago when staying in hotels and motels with cable TV. I think that this was played at both the beginning and end of the broadcasting day. It captures the essence of Canada beautifully; for me a really nice holiday souvenir. Many Thanks!
Always comforting seeing this after Hockey Night In Canada or various shows. Am from Seattle so we got CBUT and Canucks Games were always on Saturday Night love CBC and my Canucks.
Just bought rabbit ears and returned my Telus set top box. Why pay $100 a month for cable when the three channels you would ever watch are free over the air?
@@Tanzim-Kazi I saw *this* _O Canada_ film on a 1983 CKY sign off so that could have been when it was introduced; but it mostly appears in '90s sign offs.
@@JasonDelarosa2000 It may be the earliest instance of that animated O Canada film on a sign off, but I'm pretty sure it was made before 1983 probably first used on a CBC/SRC station.
@@JasonDelarosa2000 If that film was made before 1983, but I'm pretty sure the first station to use this film is the CBC/SRC station from Montreal (CBMT or CBFT), since Michael Mills Production is probably based in Quebec.

We had the exact same in French. It was magical to see this before cartoons!
I remember getting up early just to watch this on tv when it was still in use

I get goosebumps from the anthem.
List of CBUT repeater or satellite stations in British Columbia, followed by 'O Canada' animated film version.
On 2:26 time frame.

God, I Love Canada!

Indeed - 1960's "Heller in Pink Tights"
Now on Kazuki Classics signing off.
That was CBC Vancouver from 1996
It starts around the 2:45 mark
How fitting at the end - since someone probably used a VCR to record this.
KUCF opening 2016, Melbourne’s very own.
I'm curious to see if there are signoffs for the CBC outlets in Saskketchewan, Windsor or New Brunswick.
Chsj had that too
Which movie was that ending?, It looks pre-1967.
What year did that sign-off video featuring the late Peter Flinsch and his painter friends came out? It was the best.
The earliest I could find is February 1995, though I feel like this came out in 1994.

Do you have PBS National Feed from 1996, 1997 and 1998-99?
No, I don't.
