A goldfish is part of the carp family & carp do live in rivers & lakes. I learned that when I use to fish commercially for a living. These are so dang cute!

I actually have goldfish have for years anyway I gotta tell you what happened to my black goldfish he is a fan tale he was looking pretty sick so I I noticed he had a tiny pebble stuck in his mouth and was struggling so I got some tweezers picked him up and pulled it out now he is swimming and healthy lol

So, I absolutely love this! I have never felted, and I want to get a friend interested as well so I have something to do with them other than have coffee and eat ;). I have watched your videos for beginners but I wanted to ask you what to show her that would not overwhelm and would be cute and simple enough to get her as excited as I am? (The first one that I watched was the sleeping mice, adorable!!) Plus what would be the best thing to do as a first project?

Gold Fish you buy at hatcheries ( Fish bait ) as they grow loose their color and are actually carp and if you have bait left over and put them in your home aquarium is food for your Gold Fish. My husband put his left over fish in with his and the next morning his bait was gone.

I had a betta fish (named Alpha) who also break-danced on the floor. He was one tough fish...survived multiple dancing sessions during my college years. Probably should have gotten a lid for his container...😳

Yes they can get into the rivers when people dump them. They can be quite the nuisance and upset the environment. They had to poison a lake here in Oregon cause someone dumped some goldfish in and they overloaded the native trout population.
