David - Fred from Dawn Patrol Surf Rock Band. Congratulations on a fabulous take on the original classic. You've definitely taken it to a new level. Your tone and playing are top notch and the arrangement is superb. I am currently chasing down a Player II Jazzmaster.
David, I can’t count how many times I’ve watched this video. I love it. It’s a great rendition of the song and the simplicity. Of the video content really works to enhance the feel of a killer surf tune. Thanks!!!
I recently got into surf guitar, and seeing these covers is motivating! I'm gonna buy the J Mascis Jazzmaster because I love the sound and capabilities! Fabulous work sir!
Hi Fred here from The Dawn Patrol Surf Rock Band. I wish you much happiness in your surf music journey. May I recommend The Surfrajettes, an all girl surf band from Canada. They are fabulous!!!

You have delicious taste and a wonderful collection of instruments. David, we look forward to hearing more and more music from you. This is the most important thing. I wish you health and creativity.
@@anotherheadlessdemo I've been shopping guitars for 4 months and I can't believe I'm about to settle on a Squier, but it's honestly the smoothest playing jazzmaster I've tried out and I love the sound. Your videos have been helpful, especially the jm/strat comparison. Thanks!
There are two I use that are part of Garageband. One is a spring reverb "pedal" and the other is a plugin called "PlatinumVerb" which is stereo and probably my favorite reverb sound when I record.

One of my favorite New Surf songs. Great job, and interesting outro!
Thanks! I decided I had to add something that was mine, hence the outro. :)

Great cover sir, that's an awesome song.
Thanks much!
Great one as always my friend! Btw the guitar color & the pickguard color are really2 matched, just beautiful guitar!.
Thanks a lot! It took me a while to get the color anywhere near realistic. The raw clips where pretty bad!
This was awesome and I love this music
Thanks - it's fun music, isn't it?
@@anotherheadlessdemo yeah that cool 60s wholesome sound and was a great time for music
Un saludo, excelente canción, excelente interpretación mi amigo, felicitaciones, una canción de mis preferidas, muchas gracias por compartir
Thanks much! This was fun to do.
This is exactly the video I was looking for. I wanted to know how the squier J Mascis sounds at playing surf music.
It's perfect for surf, although some people don't like the non-Jazzmaster pickups. I think they sound great.
Nice! I'd love to play my mascis like that
It just takes a little practice. :)
Started collecting money for a CV, but Your sound makes me work more for the Mascis jazzmaster ;D Really nice !!! Best wishes!
I have the CV as well, and if I had to keep only one, it would be the J Mascis.
sounds great!
Thanks!
i love the arrangement
Thanks! I added something different at the end.
Very nice!
Thanks!
Always, great bro
Appreciate it!
Great one David! Perfect sounds..... where's the salt water.....? Thanks!
LOL .... it's about an hour east of where I am right now. :)
Nice one!
Thanks!
Incrível esse timbre
Thank you!
Super!
Thank you! Cheers!
Great cover!!! Can you say me where to get the backing track, please???
Thanks! I created the backing track in Garageband and the drums were from a plugin called MT Power Drum Kit.
@@anotherheadlessdemo Ok. Thanks, David!! Saludos!!
Sounds great, man. Have you modified your JMJM at all?
No, it’s completely stock.

Glad I could help. The J Mascis is as good as any guitar I've ever owned, and that includes a few vintage models. The neck alone is worth the price.
Where can I buy this music...❤❤❤ It...thanks so much 😊
Thanks! You can find the original version on Apple music. Glad you liked it!
Can you say what amp your using....? Just subscribed. My hair is the same color.
You mean grey? LOL
I used a Boss Katana 50 directly into my DAW.
I read that the j Mas.kis didn't have real jazz master pickups. They sound like jazz master pickups to me.
They're Jazzmaster pickups, just wired like a P90 or something like that.
@@gxsgdhdhrgdhfhdrdhjdhjtfd a hybrid between both?
Fergus is correct. They aren't the wafer thin Jazzmaster style pickups. They are P90s; fatter sound and wired hotter.
What's your reverb source?
There are two I use that are part of Garageband. One is a spring reverb "pedal" and the other is a plugin called "PlatinumVerb" which is stereo and probably my favorite reverb sound when I record.
