I love the abundance of wrist shots!
Perfect size, perfect watch.....I got this instead of the datejust 36. Looks so nice and elegant and sporty st the same time.
completely agree! Though I do want to pick up a 34mm Rolex OP in the future, this watch can't be beat!
Quick question
Are Tudor watches have the same stainless quality as Rolex?
@@iamachine92 i think they're both 316l stainless
@@iamachine92 late post. Tudor uses 316L. 904L which is used by Rolex purportedly is less corrosive and holds a polish better. Downside to 904L is it's softer.
Another home run from Tudor, beautiful looking timepiece!
This watch keeps growing on me. The day of having one is closing in. Thank you for all the wrist shots-great to see it in proportion and context. One suggestion to make this vid even better is to tell the audience your wrist size.
appreciate it- wrist size has been in the description for a long time. Check back in when you get yours!
@@asplashofcitrus 6.75 inch! 🎯
Best review of this watch. Just gorgeous image quality and yes - plenty of wrist shots! I have been planning to get a 36mm Explorer in the next few years, but after watching this video, I'm seriously having second thoughts... For less than half the price of a 14270 / 114270, you are getting a lot of watch, and what seems to be a much more robust bracelet. I really don't think I can justify waiting for an extra year or two to be able to buy an Explorer (which by then will probably go up in price again!).... I did try this Tudor on randomly about a year ago at an AD, when I wasn't really looking at Tudor (the guy in the shop recommended this one), and I remember thinking " I have never seen this one before, but damn it feels and looks great on wrist!".... I ended up with an Omega Aqua Terra which I have since sold.... So yes... Thanks for the vid - I think this may be the one.
Saving the funds to purchase this bad biy. Evert time I want to remind myself the reason I'm putting the funds away, I always come back to your video. I have had the pleasure to see the watch on the bracelet and a leather strap. And the bracelet combo is my choice hands down. That deep back dial... reminds me of my Pioneer Elite black screen, Kuro.
thank you so much for the kind words- I'm stoked for you (love the pioneer electronics reference). Reminds me of when I saw it in person the first time...always had my doubts until I saw that glossy dial. Still gonna look like a beauty in 50 years.
Best of luck on the journey- let me know when you finally get it!
How’s the savings progress coming along? ;)
@@asplashofcitrus Not too far away. Had some priorities that came up, but still on track. Thank you for asking, means a lot a gives more encouragement. Now, that Black bay 58 came out, I feel a little lost. But always wanted to have in my possession an explorer alternative and BB36 scratches that itch.
@@robertkubis2799 I absolutely love the new BB58 blue too...I can't throw down the money for it at the moment though.
Looking back I always loved divers, but I rarely purchased/wore them. If money weren't an issue I'd certainly already have a BB58, but the versatility of the BB36 still dominates in my opinion. Still though, the smaller case size for me is still a large reason I went with the BB36 to begin with.
Anyway glad to hear you're still thinking on the purchase!
@@asplashofcitrus This is my next watch, 100%. But, I do have a distraction from time to time, just like that BB58 gilt dial. Went to the AD and compared both side by side, and the BB36 was a winner for me. The dial and size is just classic and timeless. The dial is so deep black like have never seen on any other watch before. The BB58 is a fine watch by all means as a second watch. It has too much gilt for my taste, however the BB Black which almost looks exactly
the same looks much better, ( no gilt on the bezel) however what spoils that piece, is the size, just too big. So the BB36 is the winner and before my 50th birthday it will be in my possession. That's another two years. :)
Right after i got a rolex datejust, i felt like i needed a no date watch just for once. Rolex explorer is out of question but i loved it. This watch captivates me with its big lumed indices. Your wrist shots are fantastic!
Yep agreed. I own a 36mm vintage Longines Ultra-Chron and these smaller watches are so much more comfortable. Nice choice.
I’m in the research stage....Think this is my next watch!
good luck! I spent about 7 weeks researching this but I knew it was the one. Be patient and the deals will come; more and more pre-owned examples are coming out at reasonable prices!
My mind, was set on the Nomos, Club Atlantic ($3,100), didn't look good on my wrist, didn't wear good either...lug design issues! I tried on the B.B.36mm and I forgot all about Nomos, unfortunately!
If you have 7.5in. wrist and under, the B.B.36mm is perfect!
at one point in time I was considering the Nomos Orion 33, but wanted something more robust I could bang around if needed. The BB36 certainly fills that void for me! Cheers
@@asplashofcitrus 2 years later still no deals
@@mvrdamonxy7942 i haven't looked in a few months but I remember seeing several around $16-1700, some with and without bracelet. Gotta be quick!
Your images here 2:42 exceed any others on RUclips, thanks for this. I just pulled the trigger on the blue dial version. This is kinda making me with I’d bought the black dial, dang!
very humbled to hear that! I had to hold my other arm from reaching into my wallet so I wouldn't order the blue one right away; maybe later down the line for me. I always envisioned a green strap + blue BB36 would be a fun summer combo- wouldn't hurt to have both one day!
Let me know when you get it!!
@@asplashofcitrus I got it, it is incredible! Do not regret the money spent. I know what you mean about wanting to get the other color LOL. I’m thinking about the black dial in 41 just to change it up a little more. I need to hit an AD and try on the 41. I love the 36mm sizing though, so classic and different than what one normally sees out in the wild. Also digging the 1926 series though.
A small watch is more comfortable to wear
John Kant I don't understand why companies don't make smaller pieces. They would sell so many more watches. I have said no to so many watches because they were to big
Agreed! Especially one that fits the wrist
Mitch w - also while I agree, I’d love to see the research, data and numbers regarding sales for larger cases sizes...odds are they’re more appealing and sell in the bigger sizes. But what do I know- fingers crossed for more pieces like this
For me 42mm is the perfect size, but i definitely appreciate the advantages that smaller watches bring.
gregstus I just hope you don’t have twig wrists
great, thanks for the video! I have a 6.75" wrist too and was thinking of going smaller, and it looks perfect for you!
thank you! When I first got into watches bigger was always better...started around 42mm+, then went all the way down to 32mm with some vintage pieces. But over a decade later I'm finding 36-38mm is most at home for me depending on the watch of course.
Excellent review, kudos.
Bellissime immagini, ho preso il colore blu perché non sono mai riuscito a provarlo nero. Pensi sia migliore e più bello del blu? Del colore argento cosa ne pensi? Grazie
I can't decide between blue and black! I want the blue as it's gorgeous and I have too many black watches already, but black feels like it will go with anything, while the blue might not?
Nice to see the watch on the wrist. Nice review.
appreciate that! Quite a fun piece on my 6.75" wrist.
bro your video made me go and buy this watch! thanks !!!!!
yoooooo another believer! congrats man and please enjoy!
a gorgeous looking watch. congrats man!
Damn, I want one again but this time a 36mm! I had a 41mm but it was a bit big so I traded it for another watch.
I tried 41 at the AD and loved it. I didn’t think it was too big. The lady there had me try a Tudor 36 and I thought it was a bit small for my taste. But that wasn’t a BB36.
@@ayreej The 41 is a nice watch but it was to big for me. I got a 16040 Submariner and it felt a bit to similar in the size, that's why the 36mm would be perfect for me at the moment.
Great review
Awesome, high quality vid, man! I tried this on the wrist with the leather strap, when it had just been released and have thought about getting it ever since. Your vid (among a few others) has persuaded me to finally pull the trigger on this one with the metal bracelet. I feel like it's the kind of watch that I won't necessarily be tempted to flip later due to it being so versatile, classic and the kind of size and design that I won't notice I'm wearing too much.
Keep up the good work! :)
Appreciate that sir! Congrats on the purchase- this one's pretty contagious I'd say!
The only battle I'm dealing with at this point is wondering if I should flip it for the blue dial version ; )
The way you show the watch on your wrist is great. All other videos show a close up shot on the wrist and it doesn't help depict how it lays on the wrist. Thank you!
Thanks buddy. My thoughts exactly; I tried to position how others would see it rather than a POV kind of thing. But I hope this video offers a new perspective on this piece!
you have convinced me to buy this watch.. thanks
I couldn’t be happier with my black bay. I also got the 56, also a great timepiece
dang lucky sir to be double dipping like that! congrats!
Need some help please! Anyone know what size of screwdriver I need to use on a Tudor Black Bay 36 bracelet screws? Do I really need to remove the bracelet from the watch before I heat up to soften the loctite? Is it best to use a hollow ground screwdriver head? Many thanks in advance
Such a delicate review. Thank you!
thank you so much! Years later and I still enjoy this watch every day.
@@asplashofcitrus wow, thanks for the reply! I just pulled the trigger on this one, can't wait it to be delivered. Your review was super helpful for making the decision! 😊
@@Martin000-45 so happy for you- let me know when you get it! Did you get the black or the blue dial? I'd been tempted to get the blue for awhile now too.
@@asplashofcitrus I've ordered the black dial. Thought about the blue one too, but the black was the only option in stock.
Excellent video and just subbed! Love that 36
Great review, you touched on some good points and you showed this watch nicely. I have been considering it for months as a second watch to my Rolex but in all honesty I don't feel like I want to pull the trigger just yet even though I've tried it on and found it at a decent price pre-owned.
I can certainly understand that if you already have an oyster perpetual Rolex or similar- as I mentioned I mainly like this watch for the screw down crown among other design features.
What other Rolex do you own? I was considering a black dial 116200 for some time but they do share a lot of case style similarities, other than price point of course.
Dale D hey I owe a 16710 pepsi and yes it's totally a different watch to the Tudor BB but I guess that is the appeal. The Tudor looks a very robust everyday driver that can take some punishment but in the days of flipping as you mentioned I am not sure I would keep the Tudor for years and years. The aim is properly to get another Rolex and appreciate the value increase in that brand. Either way Basel is coming up so got to wait for that before making any big decision. All the best.
Simple, short vid but you nailed it for me! Thx! 👍
znasser1 glad to hear it! Are you going to buy one?
@@asplashofcitrus well... I had to make a choice between this and the Sinn 566 I RS. and ended up with the Sinn... The Tudor is a tough choice because it's close to half way to the Rolex Explorer... Eventhough I like the Tudor and I have to say you presented it quite well I'm still debating it with the Rolex in mind...
excellent video, love your personal style
Definitely a keeper, and great every day wear.
Great review. Perfect setup. Good music. 👍
Marvin thanks man! Appreciate it
1600 USD??? Where did you get that deal?
IMO this is a future classic. Perfect size/fit.
yes! There's a reason they decided to roll this model out in 32, 36, and 41mm sizes- universal for all!
just keep thinking whether it is too small (most of my watches are >38mm)
Sorry to disturb but I'm begging for help.. I've found this one at 2000€ new (here in Italy retails for 2700€ new), but I don't now if I'll be able to use it everyday because of the smaller size.. I have a 7 inch wrist. Do you recommend it?
Dont forget the superb clasp!!!
yes!!
@@asplashofcitrus this might be my next watch. It's between rolex op or this one. I'm still deciding. I wasn't a big fan of this watch until i saw it in person and tried it on. It was love at first sight lol. Seriously it is that good of a watch. I don't mind paying the full price for it because i know i will keep it and enjoy it for very long time.
@@ssslovak47 there certainly is something about seeing this BB36 in person- you really don't capture the cohesiveness of the glossy dial and overall lovely proportions in advertisements. I too didn't care for it until I saw it in the jewelry display case; I had to try it on.
I was considering an OP for awhile too but I eventually only wanted the explorer 114270 or maybe a newer datejust. But until I can comfortably afford Rolex, the Tudor stays : )
hello, what is your wrist width?
Hi Dale. Just curious if you still own your bb36. How do you feel about it now?
Hi Ryan - still rocking the BB36 to this day. I don't think about wearing it - it's the only watch I've had since I got it and will probably be that way for years down the road despite having looked at IWC, Rolex, newer Tudor models, etc.
If anything I'd probably try to swing for a newer Rolex Explorer 124270, or maybe the Tudor BB58 925 but this BB36 is still king.
I don't try to baby it anymore; it has bangs and scratches and even crystal chips. But it's still within +/- 3-4 seconds a day since I got it and that's phenomenal.
Admittedly I've been shifting my extra income towards guitars rather than watches the last 5 years or so, but I do not regret getting the BB36 at all. Not sure where you are in your watch journey or if you own this watch or not but this BB36 has pulled me through. I don't think it's ending any time soon - appreciate you stopping in on this video!
I got my eye on the watch and I got a deal for 1867,39$ for the bracelet version. Do you think its a good deal?
Yes
looks good on your wrist
great review with nice voice and music.
thanks for the kind words...sweet track for sure
i tried it on in a store today LOVE iT. my wrist is 7 1/4 and it was too tight, even on the last micro adjustment on the band. he said he could order me another link from tudor, no charge. it is loose on you. what size is your wrist? thanks
Love it! My wrist is 6 3/4" - all stock links are on for me but I'm on the 3rd micro adjust position. It might appear super loose in the video here but it's not loose enough to rotate to the underside of my wrist.
You'll have to update us when you pull the trigger :) best of luck!
I tried it yesterday and it fitted almost perfectly, don't know about the microadjustment position, but my wrist is 7 inches
Does someone know what the diametre of actual face of the dial is? I consider this one for a bit now, but would not want to go for a dial that is smaler then like 30mm. The BB41 on the other hand probably has a dial that makes it look gigantic on the wrist even if it would fit from a pure lug to lug distance.
What is your wrist circumference? Would you think it wuld fit on like a 6,5/16-17 cm wrist?
flebrax not sure of the actual dial size- but I think the 36mm is the best proportionally. The 41mm is too wacky to me given the dress/sport design.
My wrist size is ~17cm, I think it would be great on a 16-17cm wrist.
@@asplashofcitrus Thank you!
Beautiful watch. Classic, versatile.. perfect size.
What do you think about Seiko SARB033, compared to this one? Is it a good alternative?
completely different watches my friend...although I do enjoy Seiko it doesn't compare in terms of quality, heritage, etc. Isn't really much to compare to this BB36 other than the Rolex explorer 114270.
That said I've owned a few SNK809's, vintage Seiko hi-beats, and more.
I’ve been wondering for a couple years about this one. I also am getting tired of flipping and not having a robust watch that I can keep on all day every day. This could be it.
Anyway great review, you should do more in depth videos!
Christian Burns I’m still loving mine ; ) one of my only reservations too I didn’t mention was lack of a date complication, but I quickly got over that and wasn’t a necessity for me (plus it would kill the dial symmetry). But I can’t tell you how many times I’ve hit doorknobs, walls, etc and can live knowing it’ll be just fine because it’s a small tank of a watch. I hope to keep this guy for a long time, though I do want a blue dial one too.
Big up for your review.
Hard to find a good deal in Australia for a 36/41mm :(
LINDO ê EXCELENTE RELÓGIO TUDOR 👍👍👍 🇧🇷
What size wrist fo you have? I have
6 3/4 and trying to decide between this and 41mm. Thanks
same size, 6.75". For this style of this watch I prefer a smaller case size- if it were a diver /pilot or similar I wouldn't mind it being bigger. But the overall design to me calls for a smaller vs. larger size imo
Do you think the Tudor case work quality is better or equal to Breitling?
I'm not too familiar with Breitling but I'd go Tudor any day - they have the pedigree of coming from Rolex so there's that. Plus, the BB36 has chamfered/beveled details on the case so that's great attention to detail.
How much does this watch weigh ? I got smaller wrist and a rolex sub or omega smp was too heavy for me :\
Sonex I think it’s about 117grams. It’s really nowhere near the bulkiness of a Sub or Omega diver. It’s lightweight, but you can definitely feel quality. This isn’t your hollow-linked Seiko.
Thanks a lot👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Nicely done.
Appreciate that- enjoyed your Baselworld 2018 recap!
Hows the fabric nato strap that comes with it? Is there really a little gap in between the lugs as if it was an 18mm?
unfortunately the prior owner of my watch misplaced the included fabric nato that comes with it so I don't have it, though in most images I've seen there certainly is a small gap. The 18mm to 19mm discrepancy doesn't bother me like a lot of others so it's up to you.
I do hear it's incredibly soft and a pleasure to wear however. That said there are an egregious amount of other nato-style strap options out there, including a 19mm Nato from WatchGecko if I'm not mistaken.
What do you think about the movement? I'd prefer inhouse otherwise I think it's perfect.
David Jou it’s a solid top grade ETA and will be less costly to service over time; for this reason alone I prefer it that way with a Tudor. I imagine it would also be more expensive to purchase one w/ in-house than it is now.
Other than bragging rights for me personally, I could do without the in-house movement- I’ll save that for my next Rolex : )
Great video, how large is your wrist? Been looking at maybe purchasing one of these soon...
6.75" as in the description
Do you know when Tudor will put in house movement on this model?
doubt they will anytime soon. Besides, everyone is already complaining about the retail price- why make it higher with an in-house movement?
As for this simple piece, I'm perfectly happy with the modified ETA. Mine still keeps within +/- 2 sec a day.
@@asplashofcitrus i want to buy this watch next year. But i wonder if is it better to wait to buy this model with in house movement. What do you think?
yamaha x He already replied you that he does not think so. Gosh, learn to read.
Funny Diecast lol
Selitta movement now. Hard to justify the price for ETA or Selitta...?
future maintenance would probably cost more with an in-house movement, hard to justify from that perspective too. For the price I paid, I'm completely content with the ETA
@@asplashofcitrus Understand. It's a Selitta in the new ones.
My favorite need a great price to buy it
It’s tough right now- the BB36 seems to have gone up in price. I got this one for under $1700
@@asplashofcitrus thank you sir what u think about Tudor 1926 trying to get affordable as possible
Awesome vid. Getting rid of of My red eta for this :)
I loved the red ETA dearly when it was released, but is far too big for my taste. If it were like the upcoming 58 in 39mm I'd buy it in a heartbeat. But super glad to hear you're jumping in the pool with the BB36 : )
Yes, 39 checks all the boxes for me. AD in NYC informed me pushed back aug to sept :( I hope it sits and fits right on my 7" wrist. How many links did you remove?
jino y I didn’t remove any links- however with the summer here in Phoenix I have it on the 2nd micro adjust. I’ll have to stop in at an AD here and see what the waitlist is...
Dale D keep me posted for bb58 waitlist. I'll let you know of there is any update here in NY. Thanks again for the well put and awesome lighting video. That watch suits you perfect.

Nice watch -congrats
Appreciate it!
Thanks for the vid , appreciate the wrist shot from a distance. Really concidering this either black or blue. Do you still own it ? How's the time keeping ?
thanks so much...still my daily wearer. It's keeping time +/- 2 or 3 sec a day, pretty dang great. Been unintentionally banging it around hitting doorknobs, car doors, etc and still holding up. I don't think I've had to set the time in several months, now that I think about it.

The lowest price i can find for that watch is about 2150$ im not sure where you found yours for 1600$ but that is a great deal...
yeah you have to be quick on the draw. I recommend setting a saved search on eBay and striking as soon as you see one you like- I've seen quite a few this year that ended around $1500-1600, a couple even lower.
Great vid. I have one. My definite keeper
for 1600 did you get it preowned? thanks for the video upload, beautiful watch!
Jonathan Lin yup- as I said in the video I got it preowned. Best way to save some serious $$.
thank you for sharing concerning watches
Great video. Would you be able to make a video with the watch on an aftermarket strap, leather, cordoba or whatever you have lying around. It will help me a lot. Thanks again!
I'll see what I can do in the near future - I currently only have a black zulu strap and a green perlon. Straps are certainly more funky to get since the lugs are 19mm but I personally don't mind an 18mm strap. A lot of folks jam the 20mm straps in but I actually prefer a thinner strap when I can. It's all about making it yours.
Short of trying on a leather strap yet, I still prefer the bracelet so far- though we'll see how that feels when we get to 118 F heat here in Arizona.
Love it
They should have kept the gilt markers and hands to keep it in line with the other black bays.
Mitch w - that too would be a fun option to warm it up. I don’t think it was a bad call to keep it monochrome silver though, even less an ATM rating on the dial. Keeps it more dress-sport rather than diver imo
Très belle montre qui serait parfaite avec un mvt maison COSC et un AR côté interne

Dale D thank you so much 😊
That's a fair price . It is basically a Rolex. The founder of Rolex , did Tudor.
good!!!!!
I think it should be 38/39mm. especially as a male sport watch...
I personally think it borders dress/sport more than sport primarily. Also, there are an egregious amount of other options when it comes to the 39/40mm range.
But this BB36 is now offered in 32/36/41mm variations for a wide audience, and various wrist sizes.
Really don't think 2mm makes much difference. However I had a 41mm diver Longines that always felt way too big for me ! I my wrists aren't small. Certainly this watch doesn't look out of place as a proper sized watch IMO
Looks larger than a 36mm
on some wrists it looks minuscule but others bigger. Funny right?
Put it on a nato and it looks a touch smaller imo
don t think about watches..think about your dirty nails.
