FIVE METERS? That's.... well... giant! And then that helps give context to how gigantic the Sperm Whale is, which dwarfs the Giant Squid in every measurement. It would be interesting to cover giant squid and colossal squid. What do they eat? What is it like to drift endlessly? How do they reliably find food? I know we don't know all these things, but it is an intriguing topic. :) Thanks for making this video!
Yes, they are big next to a person, really would like to talk about them more, perhaps in either a giant octopus video or the deep sea video I have filmed but nothing else done on. -JJ
Very cool breakdown. We have no idea what really good on down there and trying to piece it together from a bunch of little clues or snapshots into that world is so fascinating. BTW the 'whale other hypothesis' caught me off guard. Good one! 😂
Yeah I think I accidentally wrote it in the script, and was like, " going to be keeping that line in". It is really interesting how somthing never directly observed can be somewhat understood through science
This was fascinating JJ, there are so many misconceptions about the giant squid that only more research is going to clear up, I think. Giant squid and sperm whales have always intrigued me, and you’re right that the sheer size difference probably doesn’t render an encounter a very fair fight for the squid. With better technology and techniques being developed to document squid and whale behavior underwater, I think we may see the first giant squid and sperm whale predation event on camera in our lifetimes. Great work! - Harrison and Evan
Yeah, big squid, but whales are much bigger. Like with the tentacles female sperm whales and giant squid are comparable in length, but definitely not mass. Thank you for watching. -JJ

I mean it is only a matter of time, just getting the camera on the right whale at the right time.

I didn’t know the Giant Squid was so small compared to the whale. In that case, the squids definitely don’t stand a chance! Thanks!

In my opinion a giant squid would wreck a pilot whale 1 on 1 but if its a pack then the squid will just have to escape
