- This video demostrates how to design planetary gears with Autodesk Fusion 360 and how the gears are machined on a home shop build wire EDM machine, created by BAXEDM
Thank you for a very well-done demo on a lot of things I need to learn!
Wow, I am impressed. This man is gifted smart!
That’s fantastic. I’m unlikely to make one myself but admire you skills and sharing.
Brilliantly explained and executed. A very good lesson in CAD/CAM using Fusion 360 and wire EDM. Thanks for the video, it was very informative and interesting.
Note that in Fusion, as in most CAD programs, there's no need for an external calculator - you can just type the formula into the dimension box e.g. 360/42/2
Well not all of us do have your extensive knowledge of F360, one wonder if you'll consider to share a short video showing how to do that??
@@marcocruz6859 You just type the formula where you would enter the result. In this case he used the calculator to determine the angle to move and entered that in the angle field, instead of entering that angle you just enter the formula you would use with the calculator instead.
What a great find! Awesome and thank you
Man, I've got to say, that really is amazing work.
Very nice pieces that you cut with your BAX EDM WIRE BX17, thumps Up!!
Being self employed doing EDM Service on a pretty new FANUC EDM machine, I´m really impressed about your DIY machine setup and skills!
Really great video. Will have to check out your EDM build videos; did not realized EDM could be a home-shop reality.
Thanks for going through the Fusion and CAM development--really enjoyed watching you develop the gears.
May download your script when I try making your project with my 3-D printer.
Thanks!
Thanks for the video. Anything you and the community can do to help make this technology accessible to more is great! I would buy the generator in a heartbeat if I knew that I could build the rest of the apparatus quickly and reliably. I'm watching the other videos.
Thanks for your interest. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions. baxedm.com/contact/
@35:47 perfect advice, pure gold. Thanks
Perfect works! I love your video
Great vedio, thanks for sharing 🙏
brilliant and thanks for the fusion module to make internal gear i will try it :)
is a very goo job! well done!
Hardcore nice! TOP
Fantastic...
good work, perfect machnine!;) grats!
very nice video!!
beautiful
very nice video, Thanks a lot and thumbs up. I am curious to see the videos of building the machine.
Could you please upload a video on the other two formulas, please. You don't need to model them but I just want to make sure I understand for the program I am coding. Thanks for the stellar video of how to make these planetary gears!!! This video by far has been the best how-to video I've seen on youtube!
a good tuto work thans sir
good work
Great explanation of planetary gears, thank you. Question, the slide visible at 2:49, I believe the formulas are
fixed carrier:
w_s/w_a = -rho
fixed annulus:
w_s/w_c = 1 + rho
fixed sun:
w_c/w_a = rho / (1 + rho)
This is more accurate than milling for sure. Good job man.
Most importantly, internal gear is difficult to be made by mill-cutting with the use of general gear cutters as did for outer gears by diy guys.
Good Job
Me Gustoooo!
very nice job! I wish you had recorded cutting the internal teeth of the annulus gear. did you predrill a start hole? this is my first time viewing your channel so I would have liked to see how you threaded the wire to cut those internal teeth.
Subscribed. I am definitely going to build on of these!!! Do you have to have the wire held at both end or can you have a straight wire held from the top and just make multiple passes until it cuts completely through? In other words have it cut the way a normal cnc router would cut but with a EDM wire instead. Thanks.
I’ve watched a few of your videos and find them fascinating. Could I ask about the cost of consumables, what is the cost of the brass cutting wire for a project like this or one of your others.
Great video! What is the backlash of the gearbox?
One wonder if you'll consider to cut a few gear for a custom made geared lathe machine?? I mean have nothing to loose asking... great video, I've already subscribed in all my 3 channels...
WoW................
New Subb..........
PEACE POWER 🔋
love it, but you skipped the part I was most interested in how do you make the pilot hole and thread the wire for the internal cutting?
Ah, that's so obvious for me I forgot to include it :) check out this video where I show that I drill a hole and thread the wire manually ruclips.net/video/upQpZi-V8i4/видео.html
great video. i need an excuse to start making your edm machine
If there is arc generator electronic board assembly available to be bought separately and of lower price, then it will be good for diy guys as the current one is still a high price for most of them.
vr good
I wanna make a 3Dprinter extruder with this! How much should I expect to pay for the gearbox you made?
Excellent show-and-tell! Two of the three pins inherently over-constrain the mechanism. Could this disadvantage be put to good use by putting pretensioning-flexures on one or more pins to eliminate backlash from the gear-train?
That might work, nice idea!
Elegant idea
Aha butiful😂🎉
I appreciate this video thanks. The only thing I'm lost on is calculating the distance of the planets. You say sun teeth times the "Module?". Did you say Module? What is the Module?
"Module" is used in Europe, it is the inverse of the diametral pitch.
Can this do bevel gears with angled teeth also?
What are typical Voltage and Amps used for this process? Thanks.
Very big like and subscribe
wow géniale
Is it possible to make a planetary gear system without the central sun gear? In other words, there would be only the outside inside gear ring and several (let’s say two) planets. Are there formulas to calculate the required parameters for this type of arrangement?
I have not seen such an arrangement, but that does not mean it does not exist. I guess you'll have to do some research to answer that question.
35:00 cavitation pressure??
Great tutorial! I have a question: how did you calcolate the module?
The number of teeth times the module is the pitch diameter.
And he is asking how you calculated the module...
@@baxedm9806 thank you
@@leestons number of teeth=z, module= m, pitch diameter = d; zm=d.-----> m=d/z
I’ve read so many incorrect explanations of what modulus of the gear is. If someone said to me that modulus X Pi is the arc length along the pitch circle from one tooth centre to the next, it would have saved me so much time reading.
42 as result and you know the calculation has to be correct
@BAXEDM what is the power consumption for cutting these part?
Total power consumption of the whole machine is about 700W. It depends on the settings that you use.
@@baxedm9806 How long did it take to cut out those parts? I may have missed that information if you mentioned it in the video. Thanks for the reply
@@hypothalamusjellolap8177 I did not time these parts specifically, but heres info on cutting speed examples for different materials and thicknesses. baxedm.com/community/
Can you recommend some documentation to build an EDM machine?
I've been studying this stuff for a while, and have never seen a machine like this.
What is it?
31:20 Why not just stick it in the oven for a few hours?
why dont you put teeth on the outer diameter of the ring and add another planetary to move the same speed so the outer planetary is bigger and it makes a 1 to 1 ratio increase torque
why didnt anyone put teeth on the outer diameter of the ring
What about the minimum modulus you can make on this machine, can it go down to 0.3?
Nice work, subscribed! If you want more subs, feel free to embed your video on our homemade tools forum; looks like you're one of us :-)
