The funny thing is that I've actually 'died' a few times now, in that my brain shut down but I was resuscitated. I've also been hit by a bus but I don't really remember it. I agree with the whole 'I'm not scared of dying, I'm scared of the way I die' scenario as so many ways of dying are quick and painless and peaceful. It's being alone and in pain and dying slowly that scares me, or feeling like you're suffocating or drowning and the fear of that that is scary. But I love the message about everyone who dies is replaced by someone else. It kinda makes life feel like a game you've been playing, and at the end of your turn you pass the dice over to another player.

Wow... coming from someone in their 30s who is also currently in hospice, this is an amazing video. Extra credit for showing someone with an "up and down" type of condition. Mine is also up and down, so much so that this is my fourth time in hospice (the other times I was on the edge of death but recovered just enough for insurance to no longer want to pay for hospice care, but this time they're much more certain of the outcome).
So many people don't understand that hospice isn't just for older people, and that sometimes individuals who qualify for hospice care may not look or sound terribly ill/weak at the start. Sometimes people even recover enough to be kicked out of hospice. Hospice is simply an optional program for when a person's medical team agrees that person could die within six months, and the patient decides to focus on palliative (comfort) care rather than curative treatment. The majority of hospice patients may be older and have things like cancer, but younger people and those with other types of conditions enroll all the time as well.
Gentle hugs to the girl in the video, and huge credit to all the kids, who handled a difficult situation with extreme grace and compassion. And again, thank you to this channel for creating and uploading this video. It's definitely much needed.

No matter how long a life is, if it is filled with love and compassion (as I sense yours is) then it is a meaningful life and one well lived. Thank you for sharing your story with us.

Julia is such a beautiful, bright young lady. I was truly amazed at these clips of conversations. These questions, answers and reactions are so genuine and respectful. I have been living with chronic disease for years now and my experience is that with adults it is not easy to have honest conversations about the topics surrounding disease, as it often makes people uncomfortable to talk about stuff that is hard or that cannot be resolved. It actually made me really emotional to see that such an open conversation can take place, and that there is space for tears as well as laughs.
For Julia, I hope and wish that you’ll stay strong and that you’ll feel so loved and so proud of yourself.
To all of the children connecting to Julia, always stay as curious and compassionate as you are right now.

    • @Alphacentauri819
      @Alphacentauri819 3 года назад

      We all suffer, children too.
Suffering is part of life. It does seem unfair, if we have the expectation that life should be painless or without suffering. It’s hard to accept the reality of suffering as part of life.
I’ve had an enormous amount of suffering...it is often the biggest catalyst for growth, connection.
We usually don’t have evolution without suffering.
Look at a butterfly...if you eased it’s “suffering” (of getting out of its chrysalis)...it would never fly. We wouldn’t get to appreciate the beauty.
This video shows that through sharing and vulnerability, empathy and connection happens.
There is mystery and death is not all that our society conditions us to be afraid of. There is so much we don’t know.
I’ve been present at births and deaths... & it’s all every bit a part of our experience here on earth. One we celebrate and one we fear. I hope we can switch the paradigm more and be accepting and at peace with both.
I used to work in critical care & it helped form my views.

I feel for Julia.. and I hope she gets to pass away the way she wishes to. Though I’d prefer her not to pass away but sadly, it is reality. It is life. The only certain thing in life, is death. I have 2 chronic diseases that cause seriously excruciating pains 24/7. The pains and my meds take away pretty much all of my energy and I spend 90-95% of my time/days in bed. Lately I had kind of given up on life. I felt like there was nothing to do anymore, because my energy was just gone. Gone, gone. I should have never given up! Because it is not fair to me, not fair to my husband, and not fair to people like Julia. I wasn’t depressed though, because that doesn’t go away in a day (or 2). But I had a real good and emotional talk with lots of tears with my husband almost 3 weeks ago. And only then I realized I had given up. I had not even noticed myself. So we made a plan (since I can’t go to the hospital right now due to COVID), to try to get my energy back up again a little. And almost immediately the day after I felt like living again. Like I said, that was almost 3 weeks ago. I had some things in the house to do that my husband wasn’t able to do because of work. So I did these things first, with some days of rest in between. But literally today I had my first outing again! It was so nice. First it was only supposed to be a car ride in our new car. But we ended up going to lunch at the big mall in our city. And even though it was just going out for lunch, I had such a good time. I now realize I have missed things like that so much! And to our pleasant surprise, when we were eating our lunch (outside) our best friend and one of her kids (my honorary nephew) walked by! They came to sit with us and joined in on lunch (while social distancing of course, though I’d rather call it physical distancing, because that is what it actually is!). It was one of the best and most fun days I had in a long while!! Sorry for the long story, if anyone read until this point, thank you for reading! I hope you liked my comment. If I hadn’t come out of that “given up” stage already, I for sure would have after this video! And I know I am not the only one who has been in a situation like this. There are many people in the situation I was in 3 weeks ago, right now. So hopefully people that have given up and have watched this video, find their spark back in life! For theirselves, their family and: For Julia! ❤️ Julia, I’m almost sure you won’t read this. But just to put it out in the universe, I hope you can stay in as much comfort as possible and your transition into the other side will be smooth and in your sleep, like you wish! Sending all my love, strength and courage! Though you already have plenty of those 3 things and more. You deserve even more! ❤️ LOVE!

But at least she’s doing the best she can to still live life to the fullest with however many days she has left on this planet! Oh yeah and by the way she finally got to meet Ellen and be on her talk show yesterday!
