  • Bryan Kerchal was an inspiration to many anglers. The cook from Connecticut qualified for back to back Bassmaster Classics in 1993 and 1994. After finishing dead last in his first Classic, expectations for the B.A.S.S. Nation angler were low, but he shocked the fishing world by winning the 1994 Bassmaster Classic at High Rock Lake.

One of the most inspirational and devastating stories that will never, ever be forgotten in the history of competitive fishing.

Bryan Kerchal was the up-and-coming GOAT taken too soon. He really was a rare guy to decide to make bass fishing his primary job and dedicate his life to the sport at such a young age, very few do so and see the success he did especially as early as he did and even more so back then in the 90s. Bryan Kerchal did it all in a time before the FFS takeover dulling down of the sport, I imagine he could run circles around these FFS crutch catchers, it was a time where knowledge, skill, talent, and a little bit a of luck actually meant something and is lost in today's climate. His accomplishment is not even fathomable by guys using today's tech handicaps. God bless him and his family. 🙏

I still have the fish whistle that I bought back in the days. I keep it in my tackle box.

RIP Bryan - You did what they said couldn't be done. I know that your spirit live through bill lowan and you are with him every cast. Go old school or no school.

I visited the memorial to Flight 3379 on Monday and left a bag of Culprit red shad worms.
