Mad props to you both for being so honest and vulnerable here with your audience. You make me want to open up more with my partner as chances permit, and that's a true gift you have given me
Oh my goodness, this made both Ryder AND I almost cry! He went, "KOALA LADY!!!!" with joy. 😂😂😂 If nothing comes of these videos other than hopefully you feeling more inclined to shared with your partner, I'll be more than content. And who knows, maybe you'll inspire him to be more open with you too.
Thank you so much for sharing. You are so lucky to have your husband and I feel the same way about my husband. I also relate to you sometimes comparing yourself to him. I feel the same way sometimes. I think his being "normal" with eating and living in general is more helpful and a good living example more than anything
Absolutely. When I find myself getting jealous of Ryder's freedom around food and movement I have to remind myself that it's possible for me too... Just have to do the work rather than simply wishing!! And I'm so glad you liked the video 😽
What a blessing to have such a loving partner! I love what you say about giving him the chance to support by opening up. Might try that. Is it too late to ask questions?? It's been a year since this video was posted! I feel so much guilt and shame that my husband and kids have to have a partner/mom who appears outwardly ill. How does Ryder respond to other people who ask or talk about it? I also feel guilt for placing the burden of this illness on our relationship. How do you both deal with that?
My husband says it’s like living with another person our marriage and there’s no room for a third person. There is very little knowledge and help for older adults Treatment is geared around young adults who still live at home but as we know AN doesn’t discriminate This makes it even tougher
I agree. I feel like there is less treatment geared specifically for older adults which is really unfortunate! There's definitely not an absence of need.
Thank you both for this video! Can you give examples of how your husband supports you in recovery? Is it listening to you or encouraging you to continue, or helping prepare meals? My husband listens but I think he feels like I am not going to change at this point!
Thank you for making this video! My fear of sharing my current struggle with ED with potential partners has always held me back from dating. I always feel like my potential partner is not only dating me but also my ED and insecurities. It was nice hearing Ryder’s perspective. How does Ryder handle his family’s perspective of your ED? How did you start opening and sharing your thoughts with Ryder?
Of course, I'm glad it helped! Ryder and I are planning to film again today now that we have a little more direction thanks to comments such as yours, so I'll make sure we address this 👍👍👍

Thank you. So much. For making this.
Of course! I hope it helped you feel a little less alone. 🧡

Communication between you and your partner is critical
Absolutely vital in ANY relationship I'd say, but definitely one where ED recovery is involved!
