How to install a backup camera any Toyota Camry or any other car

- this is a "how to" I installed a backup camera on Camry 2009 xv40 with an aftermarket android radio that you can see in my other videos, this method will work basically on any car or truck, semi, bus or tracktor.

Successfully completed this install thanks to your video! I had a minor adjustment since I had to accommodate the XLE adapters; the power cable still connected with the brown on the back of the unit. I also was able to complete this install without any drilling. I was able to slip in the rear camera's cables under the toyota logo and into the truck via license plate light fixtures. Overall it took a few hours but now it works as good as OEM.

I got the same Camry, mine is an 07 with a 5 Speed Manual Transmission. This probably wouldn't work for my car. Unless the wire was connected to my reverse lights harness.

I installed a forward & rear back up camera into my 2010 corolla exactly the way you did. Every thing works but the vertical angle is aimed straight down to ground (can actually see my own plate) and there is no way to adjust the vertical angle either. Please advise. Your response is greatly appreciate.
Fucanchu Blue have you considered installing a small mirror directly beneath the camera that you can angle to get the desired effect? Otherwise perhaps you need a different shaped camera housing?

Do you have a video of how you attached the red wires that’s the part I’m stuck on?
no need to put the key in the ignition. There is a shiftlock override button right next to the shifter. Lift up the plastic cover and depress the button with a screwdriver.

Nice job. Can you install one on a Toyota RAV4 Limited 2008 with JBL system. I have one but can't figured out the wiring. I got the the wireless camera think you it would be easy.
JBL, should have a different connector and also the android radio has different connectors
When you want to buy an android radio unit you beed to look for one that is compatible with JBL system

Hi, many thanks for the video. I did the same but I have an issue that some times the picture freeze when in reverse. I have to shutoff the car and wait for a minute to restart the system. I tried replacing the camera but no luck same issue happened again randomly. I re did the wiring that gives power from the reverse but still have the problem. Any help is appreciated 🙏
The problem might be with the software or the unit itself

Thanks for the great video. I was able to install a similar camera as yours on my 2009 Camry SE. Hookup to head unit went well as dId the wire passage to the trunk. My only issue is the alignment of the camera. It seems not perfectly horizontal and points to the ground too much. I will figure out a way to set up a shim to adjust the mounting angle. Cheers !

I have a question. I have the auto shop installed an aftermarket back up camera on my 2013 Camry SE. But the quality has gotten really bad. I want to ask if I can use the OEM camera head on the aftermarket camera wires? No need to rewire? just replace the camera head? I can't even find any new oem camera head, maybe I will buy a used one from ebay. Thanks!

Thank you for the video! At 5:14 , you mention pushing something out, but I'm not able to see it in the video and it's the one step I'm stuck on. I found a white pin directly underneath the Toyota logo, but I'm not sure what to do with it.

Thanks for the great video, good idea on how to run the cable, the only thing I didn’t notice was you hooking up the red cable that’s with the camera cable in the trunk area I know I saw you do it up by the head unit, so I assume I just Connect the red where that’s with the yellow video cable to that other red wire for power in the trunk area also?
I did the same thing ,but when I put it in reverse my backup camera shows guide lines only,
I hooked mine up the same way but the head unit I got from eBay didn’t come with av cables instead they are in the back of the radio and one is labeled camera but when I put it in reverse it says no signal. Any ideas? Help?

+ip tv you need 12v in the red cable, and also a monitor, unless your camera has those small led's .

Not the android radio side, the other end connect to the camera, my yellow cable has a red one at both end
