Pretty cool analysis
I thought it was said that Oppenheimer sabotaged the detonator, and Einstein's letter to Truman stated that the bomb was impossible, and later Oppenheimer, Einstein and Heisenberg said there wasn't enough fissionable material on the planet to make one. Maybe I heard wrong.
So 2 million American soldiers and (probably) a third of the Japanese population died during the American invasion of Japan?
Very good 👍
Thank you 👍
How about a meteor that's gonna destroy a smaller amount of the world, and the story takes place outside, but in an area that's about to feel the effects such as the Ejecta cloud or fragments, and the human effects too, such as refugees. Like a story in Britain after an asteroid Strike in Serbia.
Good idea
Even if the Asteroid hits it wouldn't necessarily kill them. If they could find shelter and survive the initial impact until they could slide off world.
Agree with your assessment of All The Myriad Ways; it *is* bleak.
On the episode itself: The absence of nuclear weapons in this world is still a not-so-small annoyance, when we briefly see news footage of the 1990s Balkans war; the fact that such a war still happens on schedule implies the then-recent end of the Cold War, a Cold War made possible by the existence of...nuclear weapons. Yeah, I know you let the episode off the hook, but still..
Notice that Arturo repeats Oppenheimer's now-infamous "I am become Death, the Destroyer of Worlds" quote; he first mentioned it near the end of the pilot episode. Given Oppenheimer's later reservations about the bomb, it might've made more sense for him (not Einstein, who lacked security clearance) to covertly sabotage it.
Another observation (at 5:42-5:49 and 6:46): It appears that the art world was influenced by the divergence as well, as Andy Warhol's famous painting of multiple Marilyn Monroes was, here, replaced by Einstein assuming the same role!
There should have been a follow up episode with Bennish as a crazed megalomaniac dictator.
Meteorite goes boom
Jesus told Christians to pray for God's Kingdom to come and for His will to be done on earth as it is in heaven. God's Kingdom is a heavenly government ruled by Jesus Christ as King. Soon Jesus as King of kings will bring beautiful changes to the earth. There will be no more death, pain or sorrow on earth, Revelation 21:4,5. No more wickedness on earth, Psalms 37:9-11. After Armageddon the meek will inherit the earth and live forever on it, Psalms 37:29; Proverbs 2:21,22, Matthew 5:5. Jesus will do on a grand scale what he did when he walked the earth including raising those who are asleep in death, John 5:28,29. There will only be one government over the entire earth forever, Daniel 2:44. In order to receive everlasting life and the blessings that God has promised, we must worship the Father with spirit and truth, John 4:22-24; John 17:3; Isaiah 42:8.
Ma'am this is a Wendy's.
@@TheAlternateHistorian Is it me, or does it feel like some kind of evangelical bot, programmed to jump on keywords like "last days"? I've seen this sort of thing pop up in comments before.
Why here of all places to preach? Run out of atheist channels?
@@TheAlternateHistorian Can I get a big bacon classic and some chili cheese fries, to go, please?
@@benjaminhedrick That seems plausible
