Great product if you already have a stockpile of Ryobi 40V batteries anyway. Otherwise probably too expensive compared to other options. The $89 single battery inverter is also great and is more practical for most people that only have 1 or 2 batteries.
23:00 This is NOT quick charging unit. The supplied power adaptor is the same one included with the OP403 charger (the one that slides on top of your battery). It’s an 80W charger.

I'm really interested in this for things like tailgating & cookouts. I do believe that it's slightly overpriced when you consider what a standard generator will do. I do admit that I like this not requiring the upkeep of a fuel engine though. I think it would be more feasible if the kit included 2 7.5 batteries instead of the 6ah considering this would likely be used for a decent amount of time or with a heavy load. Switch to the 2 bigger batteries for the same price but drop the price of the lone tool with no batteries $100-150. I think it's an easy seller then & would also drive up sales of larger batteries. I'm also interested in how long you got out of it on the fridge if you ran it until dead. Thanks. Great review & I'll be subscribing to hopefully catch some updates on this.
i have power station i build will do much better than that and it water proof it can run off 18V,36V,40V,48V,72V Lithium battery lol and 12V,24V,36V,48V,60V,72V Lead Acid battery how cool is thal lol
Not sure but I believe the battery level circuitry is more advanced in either the battery or the inverter. The battery indicator could have access to the individual cells within the battery and indicate based on the weakest cell. A battery is only as good as it's weakest cell because once it's depleted electrons can't flow from other cells that may still have a charge thru the depleted one.
I've been watching hours of videos. I just want to know, will it run a full size refrigerator/freezer? The fridge here looked like an apartment style small fridge. Can it be charged from car?
The answer would be No. Ryobi, Ego Nexus, Milwaukee MX power stations all are non-passive. Only the dedicated power stations have that option. Like Jackery, Ecoflow, Bluetti, Goal Zero.
Great concept but too expensive if you consider the amperage of the battery. Currently a 40V 6amp hour battery is selling for $199. That price makes dirty gas look very clean.
Yeah there are a few good use cases but the technology is still very expensive. We talk about it more in our latest video. ruclips.net/video/2zWrTgYplIs/видео.html
Would be really neat to see 24 batteries on 8 power backpacks connected to 2 of these 1800watt in parallel.. using the 12AH batteries im coming up with 19.2 hours at 15a(full standard outlet capacity) or 9.6 at the full 30a output(parallel)
To be honest, I’d rather have a gas genny. It just seems to me to be more efficient fuel wise. Some I know of can last 10 hours on a single tank of gas with medium output. Edit: although buying this is a great way to get “free” 40V batteries lol
Depends, if you only need it for a few hours and you're somewhere that you can keep it safely outdoors then a traditional generator would be usually the better choice. However, these battery based backups can run indoors (great for people in apartments, etc), no worry about fumes, CO2, etc. Will always run as long as the batteries are charged and you don't have to worry about it starting, no loud running noises, and can be run longer if you have an off-grid set up with solar panels, etc. Since you'll eventually run out of fuel for a generator and that's when the advantages could switch to this... But even if you have enough fuel to get through an emergency that may last days or even weeks, having to have it outside means it's exposed and can be stolen, will require more maintenance over time, mechanical parts will wear out faster than electronics, etc. Though, you can get a more powerful generator than this offers... So YMMV but it can go either way depending on situation and use case...
We talk about that a little bit in our latest video. You would likely need all 7.5 ah batteries to get over 8 hours running a CPAP. Running a 55” TV we barely got 8 hours. ruclips.net/video/2zWrTgYplIs/видео.html
Why couldn't I wire up 4 sets of 2 18 volt batteries each in series, and make adapters to connect them to this inverter. I don't see why it would not work. Tell me why it would not work.
I have a love hate relationship with Ryobi 40v products. I started with their lawnmower. The mower is awesome, one battery died in under a month. Then got a leaf blower and in about a year another battery died as in they refuse to charge. Bought 2 more and one dies in 6 months. I just bought the 300 watt generator and I love it but using aftermarket 6 Amp Hour batteries which so far are working perfectly. This 1800 watt I want it but too many things lacking. First it's too $$$, secondly it's lacking solar charging like the Echo Flow has. Third, They need to fix their damn 40v batteries!! Once that all happens, I gotta get me 1 or 2 of these.
In reference to computers and servers when the servers have multiple hard drives they call that a hot swap where you can fix a computer by changing hard drives while not shutting it down
Interesting, but the price of the unit doesn't add up for me. Also I'm not a Ryobi guy so I don't have extra batteries laying around from other tools, maybe if the price was more reasonable for what you get, it could be worth it???
I have two 40V, 6Ah (216Wh) Ryobi batteries. They are significantly different in size. The bigger one came with a lawn mower I bought. The smaller was bought standalone. It really threw me to see the size difference when I compared the two. I wonder if it would be safe to use them together in this inverter.
@@SolelyRyobi Have you mixed the two different size 6Ah batteries? It's weird to me that they're so, significantly different in size. I'm concerned that running them together might be unsafe.
Yes, we have both sizes of 6Ah batteries as well. (Not in this video). We actually ordered two more of these inverters and they came with the two different sizes. We have run the 4Ah, 5Ah, both 6Ah sizes, and even the 7.5Ah batteries together in various combinations without issue.
The only time we have noticed a difference is running them in the new 18” HP Chainsaw. The saw will stop running before it has used all the power in the smaller batteries. But will completely drain the bigger batteries in one use, without stopping.
Compare the startup power requirements of your pump to this, as well as operating consumption to check. Also read their manual, as some inverters say not to use with pumps or table saws, for example.
Unless you already have 40v line up with 4 large 6amp batteries. Don't jump into invest in it if you only have 1 or 2 small batteries. You'll be very disappointed with the performance. For the same money, purchase a dedicated power station with more capacity, solar option, passive charging, and features. I'm talking Jackery, Ecoflow, Bluetti, Goal Zero. Besides, it will take 20 hours to charge with its 1.5amp charger. Better to put it on a separate charger. On the other hand, the dedicated power stations can charge in 1 to 4 hours with much larger capacity. Those run times are a joke. No matter how many 6ah batteries. Go take a look on the specs on the Jackery, Ecoflow, and Bluetti.
You are absolutely correct. I love what Anker puts out with their top powerhouse product & (if possible) apply the aux power pack that can be added to increase everything. Plus pass through charging which is just the only way to go IMO.
You can use a solar panel but you won’t be able to use the outlets while it’s charging .If they had passed through for solar charging it would be worth taking a look at. As is it’s not really good for emergency disaster preparedness. Better than nothing and great for camping if you already have some of those batteries.
For 1000 $ , I expect it to do more. 1800 watts is quite low wattage for the price. At the very least, it should be able to cook breakfast... This thing can barely power my vibrator. Anyways, I can probably buy 1000$ worth of components (inverter, battery, etc) on Amazon or Ebay and have a 3Kw generator. I like the idea, but I think the execution is wrong. Ryobi is in the business of making power tools, so this generator should be able to compliment those tools. However, I've seen many reviewers that this generator can't handle a standard miter saw and other corded tools.
This product is far from usable for running your appliances for any extended period of time during a prolonged outage. For the $800 price tag plus an extra $500 for additional batteries... A gasoline generator is still your best bet by far with a 10 hour run time and quick fuel refill. That coupled with, Sequential battery charger (from a zero charge it would take 8-12 hours to recharge if the power is back by then... No additional battery connectors on this inverter, to support a LiFe04 or LiOn 100 amp batteries), No Solar/ wind generator inputs either, Why not? ... Yeah, we talk about that in our latest video. ruclips.net/video/2zWrTgYplIs/видео.html
@@SolelyRyobi I wouldn’t mind having something for an upcoming venture but I’ll probably go with a solar kit, it will have to run a refrigerator, modem, a few small electronics and a 12 volt water pump. I’ll have a generator running most of the day anyways since I’ll need a compressor and various heavy duty power tools. Gonna be running a gas lumber mill and atv’s and a tractor anyways.
without solar compatibility it's a no.
Be best to test with all the 4 x 12 amps battery be the best test to see what it can do on its best performance in my opinion don't waste time and MONEY on small batterys it WORTH to spend more on decent batterys🕴️
NO SOLAR CHARGING MAKES THIS UNIT NO GOOD COMPLETELY USELESS WHEN OUT AND ABOUT. NOBODY WANTS A ONE TIME POWER SOURCE
True
Hook it up to a fridge to see how long it lasts
Yes, will do!
Not a Generator . It is a battery pack and a inverter . Two or three day power outage your out of power. Please stop calling these battery packs generators !
A generator is technically a converter. So stop calling a generator a generator!
No gas, no exhaust, but not a generator. Just a fancy overpriced inverter
I would like to know how long would it last if you play the music with 2 subwoofer speaker boxes
