Very good explaination! As a recent college graduate, I was exposed to lots of different areas in IT that I wish we could have spent more time learning about, but with the need to complete the course and continue moving forward, some subjects are only briefly explained. This subject of domain vs workgroup has been one area that has recently caught my attention and curiousity again. Your explainations helped me to clearly understand the differences between the two. Thank you!

can one get rid of domain total restrictions to update Win XP

      Hello Abdulwahid,
You have to disassociate that computer from the domain, to do that the LOCAL username and password for the computer is needed. This local account is the one that was created before the computer was joined to the Domain. Once that is done that computer will be free of the rules applied to the Domain.
      Hope it helps!
Note: Not the be critical or anything. However, Windows XP for the enterprise is an outdated operating system, it has many vulnerabilities. In other words "hackers" might have a high change to bypass its defenses.
      Thanks for the comment!

      Hello,
The way to disassociate a computer from a domain is, (the names may be different for win XP), right click on "This pc/my pc" ----> properties -----> change settings ---> Change ---> and there you see the 2 options: "Domain and Workgroup", the computer has to be changed to "WORKGROUP". However, to do this you will need to know the Local username and password for that computer. If you have already done that and still there are restrictions I would say that you might not be using a Local Administrator account, but a guest/non admin account. If that were the case you need to reset the password for the admin account.
In the event that you don't how to do that I have a video on exactly that: ruclips.net/video/GleCvn62j_g/видео.html
      Hope it helps
      Thanks for the comment!

I HATE this animated hand that draws everything. Just show me the information. I'm not 4 years old. 30 seconds in to this video I was tearing my hair out watching this.
