    The website says max ram capacity is 12 gb. You maxed out acc to motherboard specification by going 20gb

      I noticed this too so I was curious when I did this if it would limit me to 12 gb or reject the stick but neither of these things happened.
      I don’t know for sure but based on this I am assuming the website is referring to the max configuration offered from the factory as being 12 gb. That’s my best guess though but as far as I’m concerned it’s working so that’s all that matters.

    I have a similar laptop. Recently brought mine to a Lenovo service center and they did a couple of CMD commands to show the maximum supported memory, and it really said 12 GB. The system may detect the additional RAM, but it won't be capable of using it properly. I tried using 20 GB in attempt to augment the Intel Iris XE graphics memory, but all FPS in games and other intensive apps dropped.

      The laptop I was using in this video also claimed it had a max of 12 gb ram capacity and I wondered if I would encounter the issue you highlighted above where it would recognize the additional ram but not be able to use it. Because I was concerned about this one of the first things I did was open up a bunch of programs: fusion 360, cura, and a bunch of chrome tabs, all while I was monitoring the ram usage on task manager and I was able to get it all the way up to 16 gb’s utilized according to task manager. I don’t really know what else to tell you but it works for me, I can record a video demonstrating this if you would like.

      @@mjrprojects9476 thanks for the offer about the video and I am glad that it worked for you. Did you try the "wmic memphysical get maxcapacity" command in the command prompt? When I tried, I only got 12 GB max.

      @@SiningniSing mine also says 12582912 (i’m assuming) kilobytes just like the 12 gb capacity advertised on their website.

      @@mjrprojects9476 I see, thanks for trying it out too. By any chance, do you play games? I play GTA V and I use it as a tool to simulate lighting conditions and study figures for my paintings. The last time I tried it with 20 GB, my FPS dropped from 40-60 to 20-30, but it something could have gone wrong with that attempt, or the parts we used. Your attempt gives me hope that maybe I can force the upgrade, as buying a new PC for a better GPU is not within my reach at the moment.

    • @mjrprojects9476

      @@SiningniSing no I don’t really play any intensive games this computer, I mainly just bought the extra ram for 3d modeling and video editing cause I noticed I was maxing out my stock 8gb with these tasks. But I don’t know why your fps would drop with the extra ram unless the computer is just reverting back to the internal 4gb. I guess if it’s within your budget you could try purchasing an external gpu and then hooking a monitor to that to essentially turn it into a little desktop. They’re not cheap but they’re cheaper than an entire new computer. However you still might be limited if your computer does not have usb-c (mine doesn’t 😤) as most of the external gpus rely on usb-c.

    i have the i5 1035g1 variant and this laptop slows down while playing media. I also get locked out of the laptop and it becomes completely unresponsive. while multitasking on youtube, the laptop gets 93% of ram which is ridiculously big. How much of an upgrade would it do? It idles on 39% at startup and 60% while opening edge.

      The 15itl05 model has 4GB soldered + a 4GB stick RAM. You can replace the 4GB stick with a larger one as long as it is compatible, so DDR4 SODIM 2666MHz.

    • @mjrprojects9476
      @mjrprojects9476  7 дней назад

      Yeah it would probably help a lot! Trust me that i5 is not what’s limiting you if all you’re doing is web browsing! Chrome uses a lotttt of ram so it’ll prolly be worth it.

      @mjrprojects9476  7 дней назад

      Yup, just like I did in the video! Make sure you buy an 8g or bigger stick or else it won’t be an upgrade. Cuz obviously replacing 4g with a 4g stick will not improve performance!

    i want to upgrade the RAM to 20GB but I want to know that your laptop is working well with 20GB RAM. Have you encountered any issues due to the RAM upgrade?

  • @ravi090ravi
    @ravi090ravi 11 месяцев назад +2

    Similarly the Intel website says 3200Mhz... But you stayed on 2666. Can I upgrade to 16gb ddr4 3200Mhz, since the 4gb soldered one is 2666Mhz

    • @mjrprojects9476
      @mjrprojects9476  11 месяцев назад +3

      You can put in 3200Mhz sticks and they will work but they will only be running at 2666. The computer will limit the stick to whatever the internal soldered stick is rated at in order for them to work together. So you might as well save the money and just buy 2666 mhz as it will operated exactly the same as the 3200 mhz in this case.

      Also if you’re looking for a cheap 16 gb stick to work with this computer I put a link in the description to the stick I used in the video if you want to check it out. That way you can know for sure that what you’re buying is compatible.

    hola gracias por este excelente video...tengo el mismo modelo de laptop del video pero la duda es si puedo se le puede instalar un cpu mas grande como i5 o i7? o si se puede instalar una tarjeta madre con i5 o i7? gracias espero tu respuesta

    • @mjrprojects9476
      @mjrprojects9476  8 месяцев назад

      I’m pretty sure they did make this computer in an i5 version so I suppose if you could find one of the i5 motherboards you could install it but at that point you might as well just buy a new computer. You would be better off buying a more powerful used laptop than attempting to do all that. Besides the new gen i3 that comes in it is plenty powerful enough for most normal uses. The only reason why I could even see you needing a bigger processor is if you are into intensive gaming. But this is not a gaming laptop so if you want a gaming laptop than I would suggest you buy one specifically made for it.
      If you want to build and upgrade your pc than you should problably buy an older desktop for cheap and then upgrade it. It is much easier to replace a cpu in a desktop than a laptop.

      It’s better if it’s the same as the internal ram. If you install faster ram it will only work as fast as the speed of the internal ram so you might as well save the money and not buy something overkill.
