    it's worth emphasizing, that the time from your door in Banff, to actually skiing/riding is about the same duration for both areas. Once you get to Louise in about 45 minutes, you can walk to the lifts. Whereas at Sunshine you get to the parking in 20 minutes, then need to take the 25 minute Gondola before you reach the lifts

      It’s a longer drive back from Sunshine as that road out at the end of the day can be pretty slow. Where as leaving LL you jump right on the double lane TCH

    I haven't skiied in decades, but this is refreshing, considering Sunshine Village has up'd it's game since '87 with Delerium Dive. But it's true; Lake Louise's black runs were actually black, where half of Sunshine's black runs would be considered blue.

  • @CD3MC
    @CD3MC Месяц назад

    Some things:
    1) While steep, I'd argue Delerium Dive does't really have any other attributes that make it "extreme", and in steepness it's almost identical to the upper portion of Louise's west bowl. The wild west however, very different story.
    2) Closest lodging to Lake Louise is ABSOLUTELY NOT the Fairmont Chateau, it's the rest of the village of Lake Louise, namely the Lake Louise Inn and the Mountaineer inn.
    3) as others have said, time to get to the lifts from Banff is about equal due to the ludicrously long gondola at Sunshine.
    4) the traverses at sunshine are absolute torture on a snowboard.

    If Sunshine's extreme terrain was more accessible this wouldn't even be a conversation 🤣

    It’s more like do you wanna use your track car or the camper van? Louise allows you to go up the mountain and stay up there the whole day enjoying the time like camping while Sunshine you are transported up (ski out yes) but it’s fast and furious on runs, teepee town, then do the James Bond run…different for each…stay on the hill over night for sunshine, Louise you have to camp at base or in a hotel off site

    Both are great but the snow is more consistent at Sunshine and the front side of Louise can get icy. I am excited about the new lift at Louise. That could be a game changer for me. Great video. I do get a season pass to Sunshine but that could change with Louise expanding to Richardson Ridge.

    Mtn sledding no lift lines. Fresh tracks all day long. No hrs limiting use. As much fun up as it is down. 200 ponies an a 175 track 3” lug gets anywhere 🍻

    Sunshine....low vertical on most lifts. Lake Louise has longer runs, better tree skiing and way more variety.

    My son and I ski both although we bought season passes for Louise for this 2024/2025 season. I think Louise has less of traverses than Sunshine. We like both but we felt Louise was best for us overall for what we enjoy. Kind of got turned off of Sunshine the last time we went last season because there were way too many high and drunk skiers/snowboarders mid-afternoon. Dangerous for everyone.

    Completely disagree, sunshine sucks for beginners with short greens and a lot of areas that need speed to avoid walking/pushing… lake Louise has an absolute ton of terrain and variety, sunshine has the better extreme terrain as long as you can do delirium dive and Wild West. Do agree that sunshine has better snow conditions usually

    The large majority of the local freeride crowd, which includes skiers competing on the FWT circuits, prefer lake Louise. I feel like that fact alone speaks for itself.

    What about criteria like scenery or food quality? Louise has sunshine beat. Also, louise is about twice as big as sunshine if you’re just going by lift served acreage

    I've never spent 25 minutes on the Sunshine gondola. More like 13 to the top, 8 to Goats Eye. Maybe if you add in time in a line up but that's not fair. WRT the new lift at Louise why on God's green earth did they put it there. 2 6 packs unloading together in an area where it could get congested with 1. Why didn't they go out to West Bowl with the new lift? Parks Canada or too cheap? Either way opportunity lost.

      Depends on the year. Although that’s generally true, last year Louise had more snow, and its back face definitely stays soft longer than anywhere at sunshine barring the dive.

      @mjor6406 Месяц назад

      @carterhudson2306 it s not about how much. It's the quality. Sunshine barely gets icy. All natural.

      @@mjor6406 I ski them both, and always ski the dive and Wild West when I do ski at sunshine. You’re clearly not skiing the right parts of Louise. The alphabet gullies have as good of snow quality as anywhere at sunshine, the difference being they’re infinitely easier to lap than any of sunshine’s comparable terrain.
