  • If you need to glue some styrofoam together, you are going to need the right glue. Here is the testing and here are the results! The best glue for styrofoam in 2023 is either:
    TiteBond II: amzn.to/43p7FLS
    Elmers ProBond: amzn.to/3pJDBwM
    You can also use standard Gorilla Glue and get great results!

    1. Elmer's ProBond Advanced
    2. Titebond II Permium Wood Glue
    3. Gorilla Glue Clear (Gel glue)
    Don't use superglue or Elmer's wood glue. Saved ya 7 minutes.

    Excellent, thanks! Glad to know it just that easy. Would be interesting to see the three titebonds sidebyside and adding some clamping force.

    We almost had to go running all over town to find glue for foam. You saved the day! I had tite bond on hand and now she’s got that crap everywhere! Lol

    I think adhesion is an easy job for these materials. Maybe the others perform better in 10 years? Or maybe it’s for control of the gap thickness between foam and wall? What assets should we worry about?

    Since the Elmer’s Probond Advanced is not available, I tried a test just like yours with a different multi-surface glue … the Titebond Quick & Thick Multi-Surface Glue. I pitted it against a wood glue I keep around … Titebond III Ultimate Wood Glue (which is one step up from the Titebond II Premium that you tested.
    Both glues worked perfectly on the styrofoam. When I tried to separate they both tore the styrofoam apart with no separation at the glue joint.
    I did apply just enough glue to cover the entire test strip bottom when the pieces were pressed together. But the Titebond Quick & Thick was thicker, though, so the test piece did not slip around as much when applying pressure.

    Does it need good air flow to dry/cure. I need to glue a finished filon(thin fiberglass) skin to 1 1/2" styrofoam. There will be minimal exposure to the air. Some, but not in the open like your samples. Thanks for posting

    • @HelpAtMyHome
      @HelpAtMyHome  9 месяцев назад

      My understanding is that often the airflow is more for safe ventilation than curing. I think the open structure of the styrofoam means it can cure in a relatively closed space.

    Generally covered to which glue type to use but would have been a better test if you'd spread the glue over the piece and all were the same size, plus I'd have liked to see titebond 3 in there too as it's waterproof

  • @rickl6697
    @rickl6697 10 месяцев назад +2

    My only criticism of your test is you put a lot more glue on the 1st 2 (elmers II and elmerd pro bond) and way less on the GG clear. Considering the small size of that gg clear bead it may have been the best. Also it would ve n8ce to see the results after 24 hours rather than 4 days. Otherwise great video. I'm impressed with that probond and elmers titebond II.

      Thanks! Glue distribution and amount is definitely an issue for me in the testing. I’m still thinking how to best handle this!

      Good point; although with that tiny little bottle, I bet the GG is super expensive.

    Your video made the Elmer's ProBond Advanced sell out. Can't find it anywhere. Wonder if they took it off the shelves for safety reasons or it is a discontinued item? Too bad, as I needed to glue some styrofoam and that stuff did great.

    I have a question, would I be able to use that to glue rope onto the styrofoam?

    • @HelpAtMyHome
      @HelpAtMyHome  6 месяцев назад +1

      Rope is hard because it will absorb the glue. You might need something thicker like a hot glue gun for that.

      Idk but in my experience it’s even thinner than wood glue. That is works best for paper and construction paper.
