Dimes best solo ever. This solo has soul. It takes you on a journey displaying all his talents- melody, harmonies, speed, progression etc. But extremely well balanced. Like most his solo's but this one energises my spirit. My opinion only. 😁

    Pantera- SHATTERED.
80% of the song is phil showing off his high ends... and its so unique for them, and absolutely face melting. Not to mention, having my favorite outro solo of all time.

I haven’t met them but I have a great story I read years ago.Dimebag was at an in store signing, there was a kid who told Dimebag you are the reason I want to play guitar.Dime asked him what kind of a guitar do you have. The father stepped in and said I haven’t been able to afford one yet but soon he’ll get one.Dime asked them to hang out with him until the signing was over. Many hours later Dime brought the manager of the music store over and told him get this kid a good beginner guitar and Dime paid for it.I mean talk about a genuine human being to not embarrass the father in front of everyone and let them hang with him and treat the kid to something that will no doubt change his life.He was not only an amazing player he was an amazing person and it makes me sad when I hear him play. What a senseless act to take anyone’s life away.RIP Dime RIP vinnie.

I have so many Pantera stories from when I was young. I know I have shared a couple other Pantera stories on this channel before but here goes another one. Back in 98, Pantera were opening up for the Black Sabbath reunion. Since Black Sabbath is an older band there were older fans there and the normal open space for the moshpit was filled with fold up chairs for the old folks. My friends and I put money together to buy an ounce of weed and rolled 1 very big joint out of the whole thing to give to Pantera. I was on the side of the stage waiting to see anyone from Pantera come out when finally Philip Anselmo came walking out. I got his attention from behind the barrier and showed him the big ass joint. He totally freaked out from the size of this monstrous thing and waved for me to come to the backstage area. I handed him the joint and he thanked me then Dime, Vinnie, and Rex came out as they were all walking onto the stage to start the show. Phil immediately upon pulling me on stage with him, dedicated the show to me and the rest of the marijuana smokers in the audience. Then they started to play Mouth for War. My friends and I were so crazy excited and amped up we made a beeline for where the pit should have been and we started yanking fold up chairs out of the ground and throwing them all over the place and started a very brutal mosh pit thinking to ourselves "that will teach them to put chairs in the pit for a Pantera show !!!" It was absolute chaos (and soooo much fun). The security tried to stop what was going on but could not because chairs were being thrown at them. After the show was over, I was invited on to the tour bus to smoke and drink with the guys. This was my fourth time seeing Pantera and the third time getting to hang out with them and most certainly was not the last time. I have plenty more Pantera stories (and many other metal stories like the time I played guitar on stage with Metallica or the time I took acid at a house party with Marilyn Manson) hope you enjoyed this particular story.

Late to the party here, but the 2002 Reinventing the Steel tour…Houston, TX. Months from graduating high school, i had the opportunity to see Pantera live. Down in the pit there’s a gentleman in the back in a wheelchair and Phil, the singer, demanded we crowd surf this dude to the stage. So thats exactly what we did, and Phil proceeds to pound a pint back with that guy. Just phenomenal stage presence from this band and I’ll never forget that night. RIP Dime and Vinny. Absolute legends.

My short story: Summer holidays of '92, I was a nearly 16 year old metal head from Belgium, living in London, spending the summer holiday with my friend Steve (we attended the same international school in London) in Dallas. His father, an oil exec, passed on some tickets he had been given. On the Saturday night we saw Pantera, in Dallas, in front of their home crowd. Insane! unfathomable energy! Mind blowing! I still shake thinking about it almost 30 years later. I think it was on the Wednesday, we were at the infamous Metallica - Guns n roses joint tour. Pretty fucking epic! And at any other time utterly mind blowing. But Pantera in front of their home crowd was still another level of energy. Then, we had already arranged to visit our other school friend Charles who was spending the summer with his grandparents in New Orleans to visit him that weekend and when we arrived that Friday he told us he had gotten tickets from his uncle for us to go see Nirvana the next day. Was a supposedly secret gig that wasn't part of any tour. In some tiny, hot, sweaty venue. That was also insane energy and the intimacy of that venue just magnified everything. So in 7 days time we saw Pantera, Metallica, Nirvana, GnR and faith no more (opening for M/GnR). Best week ever! Deaf for a week afterwards but totally worth it! Life can't possibly be any better for a 16 year old than that. I mourn this youth cause they have nothing like that.

For me, when I hear Dimebag play a Pantera solo I immediately get goose bumps. They have so much feeling in them, it brings tears. The live recording of Domination in Russia, The Sleep, Cemetery Gates and Floods. Now, there is one more solo Dime plays that is so fuckin powerful and brings that feeling these other songs do and has to be mentioned as pure, and that's Hard Lines & Sunken Cheeks. Do yourself a favour and PLEASE pump this song. It won't disappoint!!! Pantera got me through my teenage years and still is kicking my ass now.

Here's my story....Pantera were playing Ozzfest in Detroit around late 90's ....and the day before the gig Dimebag was doing a meet and greet at a music store in Windsor Ontario Canada where i reside and was born...this city is across the river of Detroit Michigan.....this was a free event ....where Dimebag would talk to a small group and jam some licks with a case of beer and converse with each group....I got lucky...I was in a small group with myself and 2 others....pictures were taken and Dime and myself swigged back , a beer...he swigged the first half...I downed the rest... then he signed the bottle for me . and I corked it ...I still have it....you could say that we both share DNA , in that bottle....He was a great guy man....so full of energy.....I swear to God...this wasn't you 10 feet away...this was us standing 1 foot in front of his playing....I was knocked out man !!!!...He signed a picture stating he would see me the next night at Ozzfest......I didn't see him again though....over 10,000 people were at the gig at Pine Knob !!!

This song has an impact to me that is very different from anything else in their portfolio. It has the all that is expected heavy, hard, gritty the solo's scream in like crash landing and then with 2 notes blend in like a custom fit. And what would normally be described as transitions are to me like the guitar had fell out of his hands and before it hits the floor Dime reachs grabbing it wherever he can. You think that's not a change, it's so far from where he wanted to be. And before I reach the end of the that thought Dime brings back in perfectly. I'm not a musician so I'm not sure about my description, but this song,
