Thank you, Doc! I have been working very diligently at improving my EF number, since having a heart attack one year ago. Down 30 pounds, eating low carb, hitting the gym almost every day, doing my HIIT training, etc... I have heard of people who have improved their number, so I am planning on being one of them! I never thought I would say this, but I'm looking forward to my next stress test, because I'm gonna crush it.

Please don't listen to the ones who bellyache about you making money, etc. I'm sure they don't do that! I just spent $2K on a Cardiologist and I got about six sentences out of him and a bunch of pills so I appreciate every word you say. Great talks of yours Dr. Gupta. Question: if the heart was a pump would it not be situated near the ankles of the feet. Thus the heart does not pump blood but rather sucks blood.
How can you improve you EF? I was at 18% about 6yrs ago at my last check I was around 28% diet/exercise? This video is actually the first time I’ve learned normal EF is 60%
11 years ago after giving birth mine was between 3 and 5 percent. I was told later that below 25 is ICU. They removed 20 pounds of fluid. I was basically drowning. After 9 months it had improved to 57 percent.

Okay, now I went in with an ejection fraction of 25, with a PE. After 2 days in hospital felt way better. Three weeks later, had my echo and ejection fraction was up to 35. Second test 6 months later, up to 45. Plateau at 45 to 50 on third test. Now was I ever at 60 percent at the age of 61? All test associated with the heart is spot on. Sooo, is 45 to 50 my number?

Dr I am 27 with a wife and 2 sons just recently diagnosed with heart disease. I have an ejection fraction of 40% and idk why aside from being overweight and the bad diet I’ve had the past 10 years. I am 5’6 215 recently started the Leto diet about 3 weeks ago and my triglycerides shot down from 150 to 98 cholesterol is also lowering and now I’m not considered diabetic along with my blood pressure going from consistently 150/100 to 135/80 sometimes 70. Please doc idk what to do and I really don’t believe the 5 pills the heart failure specialist wants to put me on is the way to go. I also have sleep apnea although I don’t think it’s severe. Please help me with any advice. I need to be around for my wife and sons but I just don’t think the pills are the answer especially after seeing how my levels shot down in 2 weeks of keto. The doctor wants me on entresto, jardiance a statin and something else.
You are on the right path . . . keep going. Slow and steady wins the race. I have just faced up to my own issues. I am going to lose the weight. It’s all just a bunch of bad habits. No mystery for me anyway. Be patient and never give up . . 🙏🙏🙏
It is because of any such blockage that the test is done in the first place. No obstruction, no test needed but should one be done it will show 60% ejection which is normal.
sos my test showed 45 % but what I do not understand is I feel the same as I have for many years I am 67 years old I work outside and do strenuous tree removal I have no swelling no shortness of breath but occasionally pain in my left arm after I eat and exert myself but I always attributed It to the hiatal hernia that I have ! PS THANKS FOR THE HELP
The experts tell us that a hiatal hernia must be treated with a very special diet and sometimes medication. You should pay close attention to that and be sure to keep it under control. I am several years older than you are with a heart condition brought on by high blood pressure/high cholesterol plaque. I am currently treating the condition with food supplementation [ for about two weeks ] and I notice a lower heart rate and lower blood pressure - changes in how I feel are definitely taking place so I monitor myself carefully and adjust the dosages of supplementation accordingly. I have cut out carbohydrates [ breads, cookies, pastries, anything made from flour ] and sugar, from my diet, and I now concentrate on eating proteins, vegetables, fruits and nuts, instead. The idea is to avoid any sugar-based diet-intake [ including all soft drinks, most juices, beer and alcohol ] that will spike large insulin production which can bring about insulin-resistance. Insulin-resistance is the underlying cause of all our body problems, according to Dr. Berg. Drink plenty of water and keep the belly-fat slim. If I were you, I would stop the strenuous work immediately. Do very moderate exercise daily, instead. Walking is good. :-)

Marco Benatar Try reading Metabolic Cardiology by Dr Stephen Sinatra. I use his Awesome Foursome supplements.
Doctor please ignore such cynical comment below thank you for your Utube videos they're great.
So I assume there is a margin of error for determining the EF.
Be patient and never give up . . 🙏🙏🙏
Bro bp normal max kitna hona chahiye aur Kya diet lu Kya 150/100 hai toh med Leni padegi Kya bataye jara
Can’t left Ventricle block also Have an affect on this test or ejection fraction
sos thanks 😊👍
@@sos1691 the normal is actually subjective and between 55 to 72%.. 60 may be what is normal for Dr Gupta's practice and knowledge vs what others have learnt
Last week my EF was calculated at 25% to 30%! Not good 😞. I'm now swallowing pills like Smarties. Let's hope they have an effect.
I've had heart attack six months ago and my Left Ventricular ejection fraction LVEF reduced from 60%( normal) to 45%. I'm wondering can I restore my ejection fraction back to normal (60%) by life style changes such as diet and exercise without taking medicines. Awaiting your reply.
I had an LAD MI 7mos ago at 64 with an EF of 35.
Adjusted my diet, went to cardiac rehab then walked a couple miles every other day. Also got on the cardio post MI drugs and take them as prescribed.
Had a nuclear stress test 2 weeks ago 71% EF. The answer to your question is yes.
Praise God!
@@rickymay8436 That's a relief! I'm really young and active person. I do aerobic and weight training exercises everyday. I practice yoga and breathing exercises too. I take post MI medications everyday. I want to bring by LVEF back to normal by lifestyle changes. Your reply has brought me a great comfort. Thanks again.
Can you do a video on Lown ganong levine syndrome?
My angiogram showed 50 percent ejection fraction. My echo showed 56 percent. My nuclear test showed 58 percent. .
