that tip about focusing on the last chamber first is really so simple but it blew my mind! 12-3 always feels like the final layer of hell for me, but your tip about focusing on clearing it (12-3) first really helped me adjust my perspective on it! thanks for this!
As an addendum, if your chamber 3 setup is strong enough to also deal with chamber 1, you may attempt to 3star chamber 1 as well with chamber 2 being the point where you can rest and finally getting 3star on chamber 3. On the next run, just clear chamber 2. This can save one run if chamber 1 and 3 align with your setups but chamber 2 doesn't, like in the current 3.3 abyss.
This can be nice for energy management, blow your load on 1 and set up for the same on 3 when you're doing 2. Gotta hate not realizing how close you are to killing the chamber without conserving bursts or doing battery first, though
@@jarmago7750 For me, it's the reverse. Being able to clear the 1st chamber or 2 means you no longer have to sweat those chambers anymore since you already know what works from your 2nd try onwards. This video is great! I feel like this is a topic what pretty obvious yet noone talks about, and a lot of people (i usually see them on streams struggling) just dont follow, God knows why. I think the spiral abyss initial purpose was this strategy. Since the more star runs overwrite the less star runs all the time, and never decreases, you always kinda forced to find the best teams only just for that chamber. But the teams can be that strong at a certain point with more investment, that this strategy doesnt matter anymore, for example when you just oneshot the entire run, all 3 chambers.
5:32 Same. Whenever I see someone saying that they're struggling to get 36* cause their team can't clear a particular chamber, I always say to just ignore it for the time being and come back later with a better team specialized for those chambers. it's funny how sometimes people still don't know that you can do this or it just doesn't cross their minds cause every abyss clear video they've seen used two teams in one continuous run.
True, but It requires players to have enough characters built than flexibility isn't an issue. There are a lot of casual F2P players who only have 8 or 9 characters built properly anyway. So adapting your teams to individual floors is easier said than done. Granted, this guide is obviously aimed at people with older accounts and stuff.
@@whuwhaaa2 You can still diversify a little with 8 or 9 chars by swapping artifact pieces to characters you haven't fully leveled. One thing you can *always* do is stall one chamber to have bursts up for the next. Depending on the comp, it's a world of difference.

Thank you for sharing the star sharing information, I used it to make it through abyss, still can't 36* star it, but I just found this channel, and I'm so thankful that you upload each chamber separately,
Great video and great advice. Just came here to see if I could add anything but no. Chamber by chamber, restart to refill energy and wait for better cards, that's it!
Really good tip, back when I first started abyss that was my main strategy... It was also more fun that way, now I just crush everything in a single go most of the time...
This is such great advice! As someone who plays casually I can try doing this to get maximum stars since I usually never get full stars on the last two floors.
I've known how to do this for a long time but I'm glad you're able to put it into words easy enough to be explained to people that werent able to make sense of what i said to them ages ago
This video brings back memories. I remember when I finally had 2 someone decent teams and my first 36 star abyss. After that I worked on expanding team options and my builds were not as flushed out so I had to target each chamber separately like how you suggested. As time went on I kept getting stronger and stronger and now I got to the point of abyss steamrolling with multiple teams so now I got a new problem. The part I know find hardest about abyss is deciding what teams I wanna use to clear it. It is like trying to pick two flavors when you got a bunch that you love sitting in front of you. One final point I would like to bring up. Your first 36 star is not the hardest 36 star, it is when you do the next round of abyss and you know you did 36 star it once and you have that pressure on you to 36 star again because if you don't your pride gets bruised. I remember that pressure too way back when.
I always try getting all stars first run, but the team always has priority for 3rd chamber, so I might 3* another chamber on the way, and I might not be able to 3* the 3rd chamber with that team, but I see how well my team did and instantly retry with a team even better for that chamber. I always work my way through like that and almost always 36* the Abyss since January 22. So one year already. This video is super good explained and calm and probably helps a lot of people who are anxious about Floor 12 x.x
Oooh, very interesting advice! I've only cleared Floor 12 three times since I'd started playing about two years ago but never really aimed for 3 stars in either chamber because I wasn't sure my account is there yet so why bother trying. I brough in all-purpose teams to get 2 stars in each chamber through a single run and didn't bother with it again. This video made me interested in trying this approach myself and see if I could possibly get 3 stars in a chamber if I bring the best possible teams I can conjure for it without having to worry about the rest.
This is how ive been doing abyss. I love cryo Keqing and I force her to clear abyss with for almost a year now. But the lack of Shenhe makes it far more difficult than it will eventually be. This puts massive pressure on the other side. It forces me to keep swapping what side gets the Keqing team and what I need to beat a specific chamber with the other. I don't mind the restarting to get 36 and it can be kinda demoralizing that I have to play this way. But I would rather play the characters in the meme ways I enjoy them than only do meta because of speed. Though the opposing side does tend to being more meta favored, it isn't always. Even my ideal cryo Keqing team is gonna be Keqing, Chongyun, Shenhe, and Layla which is strictly worse than having an anemo but I love Layla a lot. I'm going to continue to make this work and these strats are how I do it. The burst recharge on a chamber you already cleared is so important for helping. Lastly this abyss was awful for trying to get 1 size fits all for both sides. It amazed me that people could even have teams that did wolflord and 12-3-2 in the same comp. I love the last tip of trying to clear chamber 3 with 3 stars first and going in with that mindset. Thats such a good idea. I got so tired of spending ages on wolflord with no geo to try out comps for 12-3-2.
Fun fact: The process you are doing with your clears is called "Swallowing" or "Eating the Frog". When faced with multiple tasks, do the hardest one or the one you will most likely procrastinate on first. This puts you in a mental state that causes you to feel that all of the other tasks are easier and/or faster.
Thank you for this! I thought I was the only one doing this approach. I only have a few characters properly built since my real-life work demands a lot of overtime. My max would be Floor 10. I’m still not confident to enter Floor 11 but I’d be happy to take it slow and improve more.
Yeah that's pretty much exactly what I do in floor 12. I only managed to 1-shot it once, every other time I need to build different teams for each chamber. But I need to go from first to last, i.e. first I 3-star first chamber and then make an attempt at chamber two with the same team just to check what it's about. Then I build team for chamber two, pass chamber one, 3-star chamber two, and take a look at chamber 3. And last I build team for chamber 3. Taking a peek to the next chamber even with suboptimal team lets me see what is the spawning pattern of monsters in there. And there's always chance I might 3-star that next chamber with the same team, though I definitely don't press it.
This was a really informative video! I am definitely going to give this approach a try, and it would probably be far less exhausting than trying to at least get 6 stars just to make it to the next floor hahaha.
Im REALLY glad the stars are independent of the run. Like this advise alone makes my runs 10x better!!! I used to restart the abyss if I didn't have the 3 star clear and run it from the begginning again and again... until I gave up thinking my team isnt strong enough or I suck.
Great video. I agree with all this advice, but in addition I also like to save good buff cards. If the buffs are good in an early chamber I use that card to clear it, but if the card for the next chamber is bad I just save my progress. Tomorrow there will be a new card on the next chamber but I get to keep my great card from yesterday. It's not unusual for me to have three crit buffs by the time I get to 12-3, but even something less insane like ATK%, ER and maybe one crit buff card can be good enough depending on the cycle.
Damn, I wish I knew this sooner. It's really annoying when I have to use a bow or ranged character for this specific floor but now I know I don't have to do that. Thanks for the advice!
Wow this is news to me, I didn't know you could do it like that! I've been playing for a year and a half now and I was never able to get the full stars because I always think that I must use one team to clear all chambers. Update: I finally got all 36 stars
Just realized that a couple of days ago, while playing the game more of year now. Really helpful when having trouble with heterogenous chambers like these floor 12 ones!
As someone who started 4 months ago, I had no idea you could do this. I doubt I'll do it though; I think I enjoy having a strong team that overcomes all opponents, but if I want primo's and can't do it, this is genius, so thanks. 🙂
Thank you, this video earned you a new sub - and I rarely sub to Genshin creators - best advice I have EVER learned for the Spiral Abyss. Your videos are well presented, the info is useful and easy to digest and relatable.
AR60 and I apply this mentally of doing the chamber's since I got my first round on floor 12 when kazuha was launched, but I never thought about on focus on chamber 3 first! I will try that! Thx!
Whelp, I don't think I have strongly built enough characters to get fully through the abyss, but these tips might get me to squeeze out a few more stars for the time being. Thanks
also by focusing on clearing chamver 3 first you can sometimes get good runs at chamber 1 and 2 too, normaly i use raiden national for the entire first half and nilou bloom on chambers 1-2 and 3-2 and a team with ganyu, nahida, noelle and yanfei on wolflord
I just realized this also works for optimizing the use of good artifacts and weapons. Different units may benefit more from using the same gear in different chambers! This is so logical and I'm shocked I didn't see it this way before. Thank you!
I used to clear the abyss this way, and it's very effective. That said, I still found setting up for chamber 3 to be a pain in the ass, and if I got burned out and wasn't having fun, I wouldn't do it. So I did things in the opposite order: first a run that just did chamber 1 with 3 stars, then a run where I just need to 3-star chamber 2, and finally I run where I 3-star chamber 3. That way, if I got burned out for that cycle, it wouldn't matter too much as I'm only missing out on at most 3-stars if I didn't bother to 3-star chamber 3.
Makes sense. I still haven't cleared Floor 10 Chamber 3. Slowly improving my squads (Characters, Character Levels, Weapons / Weapon-Levels, Artifact Sets / Stats, Talents, Constellations). Lastly, learning how to play the different team compositions well (rotations, timing, etc).
Man. You earned a sub for the different strategy in teaching. Not sure if you're already burnt our like everyone else but hopefully you'll stick around in the rest of our journey!

This is a great video, thanks for the tips!
Thank you for sharing the star sharing information, I used it to make it through abyss, still can't 36* star it, but I just found this channel, and I'm so thankful that you upload each chamber separately,
This is exactly what I’vs done back when SA was a challenge. Good tips overall!
It also makes you feel really good twice, first time when you finally 36* the abyss, and second time when you are able to do it with single 2 teams
First minute of this video already gave me hope.
Great video and great advice. Just came here to see if I could add anything but no.
Chamber by chamber, restart to refill energy and wait for better cards, that's it!
This is so helpful! I had no idea the game always saves the highest chamber rate, that makes it so much easier
Wow 😳 I didn't know this, thanks man
Omg the targeting 12-3 and then 12-2 and 12-1 first is literally such a smart tip!
That Was a Great Tip, Thanks.
2 to 3 team comps built... I´ll give you 1 and a half and I´m risking it xD. Thank You for all your videos
I didnt know this after 2 yrs of playing and 34-36ing star the abyss. Smh thank you!
lol me too, i always thought that if you reset or leave, it will reset the entire floor
Bruhh that's such a good strategy, why'd it take me this look to figure it out 💀💀
I’m not sure when you became my therapist as well as a great genshin video maker but here we are 5:18 😂
Broo this is very help full
Good information for new player, wish I watch this half year ago
LMAO I DID NOT KNOW ANY OF THESE IM DYING THANK YOU SO MUCH
Thanks for this!! I've been leaning on doing it a chamber at a time. Though even then, I'm struggling.
Im REALLY glad the stars are independent of the run. Like this advise alone makes my runs 10x better!!! I used to restart the abyss if I didn't have the 3 star clear and run it from the begginning again and again... until I gave up thinking my team isnt strong enough or I suck.
So helpful especially for people struggling! And very easy to understand and I think my mind works similarly. Subbed!! Thank you
Great video.
WOW THXS SOOO MUCH BRO THIS REALLY HELPED ME OUT JUST FOR THIS I’M SUBSCRIBING
That's such a good tip I never thought of....
Makes sense. I still haven't cleared Floor 10 Chamber 3. Slowly improving my squads (Characters, Character Levels, Weapons / Weapon-Levels, Artifact Sets / Stats, Talents, Constellations). Lastly, learning how to play the different team compositions well (rotations, timing, etc).
While i have figured this all out piece-meal, I recognize how useful it would have been back at low ar, and appreciate and recommend it.
Love you bro... I'm just dumb 😅 thanks for the information now I think I can atleast 6 star abyss ♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️♥️
This is so eye opening
Man. You earned a sub for the different strategy in teaching.
Not sure if you're already burnt our like everyone else but hopefully you'll stick around in the rest of our journey!
I felt the psychological burnout with chamber 3 wayback in 2.0 and the energy mechanic. I hope a player like I was would see this if ever than thing comes back again
this is very helpful, thanks!!!
This WAS helpful... help me break bad habits.
