  • Welcome (Bienvenidos) to Neil’s Spanish Fly Box, where we take a look at some of the flies used in Spain and elsewhere.
¿Hola, que tal? En principio, este es un video diseñado para pescadores que entienden inglés, pero por supuesto, ¡cualquiera puede verlos! Si eres un pescador de habla hispana y te gustaría comentar en español, te responderé en español. ¡No seas tímido!
Learn about some new (some, not so new) and interesting fly patterns, that can be found in every Spanish fly fisherman’s armoury, including some ‘must haves’! Real flies for real fly fishers.
I have fly fished in Spanish competitions for over a decade, on rivers and still water, learning a great deal about the Spanish way of fishing and the flies that are used.

Hello Bob, thank you for your kind comment, but it seems that destiny is allowing more time than you would like, to heal that shoulder!! We have had a winter snap as well, with showers and temperatures below 70F. Brrrh! As far as the music is concerned, another subscriber described it as ‘zen’ like, but I have had no adverse comments…….yet!😉

Not that you'd find a mop in any of my boxes (wink), but if there were, they'd be Chartreuse or light gray. I really like that lemon yellow. So if I were to put one in my box I'll have to look for that color. Nice Neil. No worse than a San Juan or Squirmie worm.

Hello Michael, chartreuse is another great colour, one that you may have seen me use in my still water videos?🤔 Interesting comment about comparisons - the Squirmy is forbidden in Spanish competition, because of the material that it is made from and the make up of the fly. Flabbergasted that you have made no comment regarding the background music!!😬

@@neilsspanishflybox Honestly I found a chinnelle from Italy that makes the San Juan a lot better than the old stuff. From Textreme. So is chewing gum worm legal? Family weekend next week and to be honest I'll be making some foam "pellet flies" because there will be stockers. Shame on me. As far as the music, not too bad. A little Zen like.

@@ross1458 Chenille is basically the only thing that we can use for a San Juan. Any fly where the body is made of rubber, plastic or silicone is not permitted. Not quite sure what a ‘foam pellet fly’ might be - presumably something that floats, but pellet suggests it is sub surface! Confusing. Have a great weekend with your family.👌

@@neilsspanishflybox a pellet fly imitates a pellets they feed the trout in the hatchery. About 6mm cylinders approx 1/2 inch long. Sorry for mixing measurements. I can tie them out of deer hair but I hate tying the stuff.
