This guy, Daryl Dragon, was a genius but wasn't recognized for it because he always stood back making everyone else better. His musical range, from slow to fast, is very wide. Let's together acknowledge the genius that he was, and how he uncompromisingly represented his craft. 💚
Toni though - LETS CALL A SPADE A SPADE - She sang like she was black!!! 🤷🏽♂️ So Dionne had no trouble fitting in around her cause she understood where all this music candy was coming from!! Honestly in 2023 we all still out here marvelling at performances like these ones
The shame will naturally be that few will remember the success of the Captain and Tenille twosome. A few more of my older generation will have no problem remembering Dion Warwick, a fantastic singer I loved the first time I heard her sing and until just recently continued to perform. There were only a handful of ladies who ever sang better. Karen Carpenter was my personal best ever choice. Some would say Barbara Streisand, but I'd rather say Roberta Flack. Such were the days before Auto Tune when voices were better than machines and bad lyrics. 😢
Karen, Dionne, for sure from the 60’s were world class superstars, and are still beloved by millions. Barbra is 80 and still sounds as good as Lena Horne did at 75. Flack is a talented artist, I’m a big Laura Nyro fan and most people go “Who?” Doesn’t change a thing. Great singers and music is timeless 🎉
Toni was a wonderful entertainer - but, wow, while she's sort of visibly straining, Dionne just opens her mouth and effortlessly eclipses Toni in range, volume, texture, expression - honestly, don't mean to "dis" Toni - and, indeed, it seems like Dionne is always naturally generous in not grabbing the highlight in her many various duets, but she just can't help being who she is, which is the superlative best!! - thx for posting! :-)
Singers like this just aren’t famous anymore. This is just another level of talent and professionalism.
Dionne is the consummate artist with class she never fails to make her towering talent look like a cakewalk 🎉
Can't stop watching this!! Great performances!!! They are both SO fantastic!!

Totally agree.
Kinda of a Richard Carpenter thing going on. Darryl & his father were both very talented ❤
Loved Daryl Dragon: THE CAPTAIN!
Amazing! Always loved the Hall & Oates original of She's Gone. This is an awesome version!
Perfection 💯
Perfection 💯 percent
Wow! When they did “Shop Around “ Dionne sitting there singing, you could see the resemblance with her and Whitney!
Dion was a superior singer to Whitney whom I agree was a terrific singer. But Whitney was a much better person also.
Their voices are so alike that for many years I thought Dionne Warwick was the one that sang Do That to Me One More Time.
Omg I love this! Where has it been? Both icons!
Toni really belts it out! ❤️👍
And no one compliments Darryl’s amazing keyboard playing??!!!!
He’s gone, oh ayyyy!!!
Uma união perfeita,uma descendência Núbia/romana.

Toni loved R&B /Soul and has the chops to do a pretty good job of it.
En su otra vida Toni fue negra, tremenda voz.

It's not necessary to put one down to compliment the other
@@michelleyb.9709 lol - get over yourself, please
@@michelleyb.9709absolutely agree!
@@annvroom5539why don’t you do the same.
Toni is not straining … he personality is just more excited and expressive than Dionne’s when singing!
in 2023 most of the chart toppers cannot do this without samples, and prerecorded vocals.
The ladies should have been standing when singing this song!!! Would have seen them dance too!!!
@meimeLovesmisic You're confusing them with today's "entertainers". When you can actually sing you don't need to dance.
