Definitely I think a light canoe makes the biggest difference here even more than technique. I've tried this a number of times and can't generate the moment needed to get the canoe up over my head. I'm a stronger than average guy I would say and still find this difficult. The canoe itself is the biggest deter.ining factor here I believe
Use your core! I see a lot of men try to use their upper arm strength to put the canoe up. Women have to use their strong core muscles to build the momentum and flip it up. I love getting to an entry point or portage where a group of guys are struggling with all their gear and I gracefully throw my canoe up and walk on through. It really is all about technique. This can be done with 3 people using the same actions as the 1 person. The 2 helpers are at the thwarts and once the person carrying the canoe is balanced they walk away. If you have a heavier canoe wrap your arm closer to you under the canoe to help guide it better. I have seen people use this technique with 80-90 lb canoes.
Even my wife loved this one. Great way to get the kids involved.
You promised a longer vid and we got it, always informative with a dose of laughter luv it.

The leaves were made into the canoe mold itself. Nova Craft did it, They can make up some amazing designs.
nice video I use pads to protect shoulders. wood on bone makes for lots of unwanted pain. thanks for showing.

That is one amazing canoe. We're those Canadian leafs painted on? Or can you buy this canoe like that?
Yes a lighter canoe would be lovely and expensive. Even used ones are crazy $ and I’m not young anymore either. Thanks.
