  • In this video I share my thoughts and opinions on my fuji 645! It's quickly become a favorite of mine due to it being a medium format rangefinder. We visit amazing locations like Cannon Beach, and Crescent Beach while on the coast of Oregon! These videos take a lot of work, so I’d appreciate it if you considered subscribing! Thanks for being here!!

Getting a "fat roll" jamming in your camera is never a film issue. It is a problem with the user, i.e., a failure to keep proper tension on the leader during the initial loading procedure. I shot 120 film for nearly 40 years before it happened to me in my Pentax 67. Keep restraining pressure on the film roll as you wind on the paper leader up to the "start" index, and you will never have the problem. He's very lucky he didn't strip some gears in the film advance lever, which is a mechanical weakness in the Fuji GS cameras (of which I've owned several).

Yeah, Lomo films have a tendency to fat roll with certain cameras. That sucks man. Great video, and glad you enjoyed my home state :)

I had the same problem with my fuji gs645s when using lomo films. Shooting mainly kodak now because of it

Oh glad to hear it wasn’t just me! Hopefully I can figure it out because I’m trying to use lomo as a “poor man’s portra” 😂😂😂

@@Anjroo So sorry! It is YOU. The loose roll of 120 film you got is called by some, "Fat Roll". It results when the user failed to adequately tension the 120 roll paper leader while loading a new roll. The leader rolls on loose (and fat), and the problem just balloons from there. When you load a 120 roll, keep your thumb on the new roll as you start winding on the paper leader, keeping it tight. At the "start" index mark, close the camera back and advance frames as usual. No problem! The GS645S is not an issue. This is a YOU problem. Of course, if you persist in forcing the roll to advance when it's jamming in the take-up chamber, you can strip the film advance gears.

Haha I saw you on the coast with that camera. I was shooting my cameras all over. Do you live in Oregon? I am in Ashland. Love the coast here. You should visit sunset bay/humbug state park/Toketee falls

@@Anjroo Haceta Head lighthouse is a really beautiful beach to go to. And the dunes in Florence, which actually inspired Frank Herbert to write Dune :) That's a few hours south of Cannon Beach. The Oregon coast is so beautiful :)

Thoughts on the Fuji gs645s vs the fuji gw690?
I'm considering buying the Fuji GS645s wide 60 but also the Fuji gsw690/gw690 look interesting. Curious to know your thoughts since it looks like you have both.

      I love them both!
The resolution on the 690 is really incredible, however I do love the 15 exp from the 645s, i think you can’t go wrong with either :)

@@Anjroo fair... I guess this is why 6x7 is so popular. It's the middle ground of size, frames, and resolution in medium format

Yeah I’ve been eyeing a Mamiya 7 for that reason for a while now but the price tag makes me throw up 😂😂
      Some other things to consider!
-690 is fun if you wanted to texpan
-645 has a light meter, and is lighter
-690 is built like a tank, 645 is considered very fragile

Quick Oregonian nitpick - it’s Cape Meares, not Cape Mueres. Got great shots all around though!
