    I have been checking lots of other photographers work with this camera, the focus is sharp on. When I check the focus on the pictures in this video especially portraits, I cannot find parts that are in focus or say there is no focus point. The pictures are a bit blurry to eyes somehow as a whole. Mamiya 645 AF autofocus is definitely amazing. I am just wondering if the focus on this camera is a bit off? (which happens to vintage cameras sometimes after all years of usage) ☺️

      Hi there! Thanks for watching! I typically shoot with the aperture wide open at 2.8. This typically results in slightly softer images, which is actually what I prefer, as I like dreamier images. But I would say there are still definitely areas of sharpness in the images from the video, so I would make sure you are watching in at least 1080p resolution. If the internet that you’re using is kind of slow, the images may not show up as sharp as they should. I definitely got some super sharp images from this camera at times, but I did end up replacing it because the autofocus was troublesome.

    The double exposure at 2:36 is amazing. 8:20 is also great, I'd definitely want that picture as a wallpaper. Wishing you the best on your new chapter with the Contax! btw, love your cute vintage camera suitcase in the corner

    I was looking at the seires of your photos on your website and they're all so amaizng, I was wondering for the photo at 8:47 and the whole serie, how did you get the bloom/dreamy effect? Was it vasaline or a stocking?

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  Год назад

      Thank you so much! For the photo at 8:47, I just shot with the aperture as wide as possible and focused on the model’s hand holding the veil to make the background blurred. I typically shoot with the aperture wide open at f/2.8 to get that dreamy effect. I sometimes do use lace or fabric in front of my camera for even more dreaminess but I don’t believe I did that for any of these. Hope that helps! Thank you so much for watching! ✨

    With only 1 focus point, how are you moving your composition? Are you recomposing holding down the AE button?

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  7 месяцев назад

      Hi there! I actually used manual focus most of the time. The autofocus was a little slow and inconsistent for me. I can’t remember if you’re able to recompose after holding down the autofocus. Sorry, wish I could offer more help! You can always try doing a test roll using manual focus vs autofocus and write down your settings for each photo. Best of luck! Manual focus worked great for me though! ✨ Thanks for watching!

    Did you end up getting the Contax and was it worth it? is it really worth the difference?

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  Год назад

      I did! I have a video on my channel about it: ruclips.net/video/GZy-iZ1L1IY/видео.html - I do find the Contax to be much sharper and overall more “professional” and high quality, but I’m not sure I’d say the price tag is worth it. The Mamiya 645 is an amazing camera for the price and I miss mine dearly! I might end up going back to it eventually just because I find the images to be more dreamy and film-like. The Contax is so sharp it almost looks like digital. Hope that helps! Thanks for watching! ✨

    Cool! I look forward for video when you share your experience shooting with the Contax. Contax is out of my budget. I have the Mamiya 645 Pro (Manual focus) with the 80mm f1.9, but I always wonder what you have on the Contax, I see you can see is more sharp than the Mamiya. Anything else ?

      Juan Kis thank you for tuning in! You can find my video on the Contax 645 here: ruclips.net/video/GZy-iZ1L1IY/видео.html
      The photos are definitely sharper on the Contax. The autofocus is much faster and more accurate too. It’s just more responsive overall. I haven’t had any problems at all - whereas the Mamiya would freeze up randomly when using autofocus but I still love it when it does work. I haven’t tried the Mamiya 645 Pro yet! How do you like it?

    lovely video! is there a big quality difference between 6x45 and 6x6 formats?

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  3 года назад +1

      Thank you so much for watching! I’ve actually never shot 6x6 before, but I’m assuming that extra surface area on the negatives helps get a little bit better quality in the image. But the bigger the format gets, the bigger and bulkier the camera gets. I do love square formats though so I really need to try shooting 6x6, I have a feeling I would love it! Thank you for watching! ✨

    Mamiya made a lot of DIFFERENT 645 cameras. That you did not specify which one you are talking about shows that you really don't understand this at all. It looks like one of the 645AF models (645AF, AFD, AFDii, AFDiii).

    Interesting video, selling a 645 to get a 645. I have a Mamiya 645 super and Mamiya AFD one interesting fact about the Mamiya AFD is I picked mine up for 350 us then I picked up a digital back for 400 us the odd thing is I didn't know that the digital back would also work with my Mamiya RZ67 and with the correct back it would also work with my RB67 and I'm not a Mamiya fanboy. But if you can get one heck of a kit with less than 3k well please think clinical when you planning to get a camera if you might want to expand. Just a thought.

    First time seeing your channel, but it seems to me that you are not fully convinced in getting rid of your Mamiya, and justifying the Contax. Maybe you should keep them both for a while to see which one you like best. Or, you might find that you love them both!

My Contax is amazing but I still have a soft spot for the Mamiya 645. Plus, I’m always too scared to take my Contax anywhere because it’s so expensive. With the Mamiya, I wasn’t as worried about damaging it. 🤔

      The best medium format camera? The Fuji GX680 by a mile. A 645 is not significantly larger than 35mm which with the correct technique will give you fantastic results. Go 67 or larger IF you print large. Otherwise stick with 35mm. The Nikon FE2 is the best.

    I don't like the Mamiya 645 that much because I have little regard for the overall quality of the lens line. The Contax 645 out of the box is nearly a perfect blend of features, accessories and such. Unhappily, the Contax 645 has acquired a reputation as being too complex to be reliable, and there is almost no repair capacity. For me, too much money invested in a Contax at too high a risk of total loss when the camera fails. It is gift that keeps on drilling holes in your wallet, until you're told that there are no more parts, so bin it.

    • @camerasncats
      @camerasncats  4 года назад +1

      Randall Stewart these are definitely all good points! Personally, I like the look of the 80mm f2.8 lens for the Mamiya but I can see where it might not be as comparable as some other brands in the price range. And I keep my Contax in its own separate bag and am very careful with it. Haven’t had any problems yet, but if anything happens, I would probably just go buy another Mamiya haha.
