Thanks for this! Great video. I’m inspired to check this camera out, as I haven’t settled on a medium format body to buy. Really appreciate what you said at the end too.
I feel like 645 is the new 35mm format. You still get a similar but refined grain from film, more nuanced color and dynamic range and on some 645 cameras you get 16 frames. Also yes, please make a video about VSCO, I feel like I'm not using it much but I am very interested in the people that do.
I'm starting to feel the same way. I really prefer the image quality you get with 120 (even in 645) over 35mm. And that's great to hear, I'm really excited to talk about VSCO more in a future video!! Thanks for watching!
I have the 645 1000S and I love it! Just shot in studio lighting with it for the first time and I can’t wait to get those rolls back!
Ahh that's awesome!! The 1000S is such a good camera. Those rolls are going to be incredible!!
This is so helpful. I've been wanting to get into medium format but I can't justify the Contax.
Great video and camera! I love my Phase One 645AFD. (aka Mamiya 645AFD III)
Thanks so much, Teng! That’s awesome to hear, it’s nice to meet a fellow AFD user :)
Really clear presentation, though I didn't need to want to buy more equipment 😅
Thanks for such a thorough walkthrough!
Hahaha! Thank you so much, Florian - so glad you liked the video!
Lovely video! I have no interest in shooting roll film at this time but I enjoyed watching till the end.
Hey thank you so much, I really appreciate that!! :)
Hi ! Have you ever tried flash on this camera? Thanks for your very detailed video. I will buy some next week. I can't wait to try it
28mm is a dream. trust me.
Great vid. Was very close to buying a Contax 645 kit, but this video made me go with your same Mamiya 645 AFD kit plus the Pentax 67+105 and still have like $2k left over!
Dude, YES! Oh man, I'm so happy you did that!! The Contax is great, but wouldn't have lasted nearly as long. You got so much for your money - and still managed to save a lot, too! Stoked to see what you make with these new powerhouses, Shawn!!
@@StevenSchultz Thanks Steven!
I still love thos camera. What are some of the faster AF lenses available now? 80mm f1.9 os blooming brilliant but my eyes mot fast enough to keep up.
Hi, I loved your video! I saw that the camera setup information appears on your negative, where can I activate this function on the camera? Thank you!!
Now I am looking it up on ebay, oh sheeeett
Ohhhhh baby!!!
@StevenSchultz, this might be a dumb question, but I was curious as to what back are you using for this camera? Do you have one in particular you use the most, or do you switch out a few? Thanks in advance. Amazing video and images; absolutely spectacular.
Hey Eli! That's not a dumb question at all! The Mamiya 645AFD is compatible with the Mamiya HM401 back, which is what I use. To my knowledge, this is the only back that this camera is compatible with! Hope that helps, and thank you for the kind words! :)
Like my mamiya 645 AFD2, i use it with classic digital backs: Kodak Pro back 645 and Phase One p45+)
That's amazing! Sounds like a fantastic combo with the digital backs!!
Your pictures look amazing! How do you scan your film?
Thank you so much!! All of the images in this video were camera scanned with my Canon R5 + RF 100mm macro and Negative Supply gear!
It is really hard to find this camera nowadays. Any ideas why:(
How do you scan your film? The results look absolutely perfect to me.
Thank you so much, Matt! I scan my film with a Canon R5, RF 100mm macro lens, and Negative Supply scanning gear!
Do you know anything about 55mm and how it compares to 45mm? I couldn't find anything online, amazing videos by the way!
Hi there! I don’t have any personal experience with the 55mm, but I do own the 45mm, 80mm, and 150mm, and they are all excellent lenses. I have no doubt the 55mm is up to par with them! Thanks so much for watching!! :)
i have a 645 AFD that will not fire and gives me "error 02". Anybody know anything about this problem? I have tried cleaning the camera and nothing works. No shops will service AFD. It seems like a great camera but I would not recommend it since they are virtually impossible to get serviced.
noice
hehe
FIRST
YEAH YOU ARE
Do you have experience with the Nikon f100?
No I do not! I do have the Nikon L35AW and love that camera though!
I have one. It’s great feels like a modern dslr
I love my AFD Never shot film through it as it has a 60mb back but its the only (digital camera) i like to use for work. At other times i take the back off and stick it on my RZII
What flash can work with this?
Metz SCA3002
For a $1,000+ used camera, it better last a while!
STOP MAKING ME WANT TO BUY NEW CAMERAS
