Geeking out is great. Don't apologize for how you've been doing things, explaining things, etc. You're very interesting to listen to with regards to how you analyze and discover sections of composition.
Man, it is so refreshing to see a "reaction" video that they actually appreciate the pads, builds, and everything else. Actually listening to the music!
I know....right? He really has a way of breaking that fourth wall and connecting with his viewers. I love that...especially because it feels good when you can jam to songs that you like that someone else is really liking too. Nowadays it feels like there is so much variety in music (which is a good thing overall), but an unfortunate side-effect is it gets more difficult to find fellow fans to network with. I think that is why creators like Old Composer really resonates with a lot of people. I know that is a large part of it for me is the empathetic jamming out and how he feels the music in a way that I certainly do too.
Spiritbox did a live from home show for Liquid Metal on Sirius Xm last week and they have released two videos from that performance that are pretty good . The 1st one has Holy Roller and Rule of Nines , the 2nd vid has Blessed Be and Belcarra . Another really good studio performance from them is The Mara Effect Live from Silverside Sound , it's a little bit longer of a vid but they play parts 1,2, and 3 of The Mara Effect . It's a sonically beautiful performance .
The thing that makes her special is she can communicate her empathy and pain through her voice. The techniques are definitely prevalent. But, it's her RAW emotion that MAKES you FEEL it. "Circle with me" is the best example of complete master of lyricism, for me. It's about choosing to live. Holding the flame of life. She truly is amazing, as is Maynard from Tool. There are many special people in this world, and I thank them everyday for guidance through my own subjective hell. Everyday.
Spiritbox - Mara Effect live at Silverside Sound is a must watch. It's a 3 song one take recording of one of the bands original pieces that I think best showcases both their musical prowess and versatility.
Gotta say, I've been watching more than a few of these reaction videos from Key of Geebz, and between him and Elizabeth Zharoff, I get all the reaction I could ever hope for. Professionals that know what they are talking about and come at the music from radically different directions. Amazing insight that opens my mind to new ways of listening. I'm just floored.
Agreed.100%! Professionalism, incredible knowledge, curiosity, bravery, and authenticity seem to embody them both! Merry Christmas, everyone, and thank you, Mr. Decomposer! 😊
Spiritbox are amazing. What drew me in has absolutely nothing to do with her looks, but the AMAZING melodies, the bass and drum sections, the ethereal guitar work and chords, it all just works together as an amazing dynamic- something no other band has. They also continue to evolve their sound, unapologetically, and it has reinvigorated my desire to play guitar. SOO stoked to see them with my wife in April! GEEBZ, PLEASE DO A SLOW BURN ON THESE GUYS! They have some absolutely amazing tracks. I don't think they've done a single bad song yet!
I have great plans to binge all your videos, I initially planned to have them on in the background while working, but I think this channel deserves my full attention
Cool reaction. I've listened to this song like 100 times since it came out and you made me notice things in it that I'd not really picked up on before, like the pads. Love spiritbox- they're crushing it at the moment. I think their strength with this last series of singles is that their song writing is very concise and super tight. I'd be interesting to see you react to humanity's last breath from a producers standpoint. Their new songs in particular like earthless and vittring have some really interesting instrumental effects and layering. Be warned - heavy AF though!
Although CAFO isn't the best song to introduce people to AAL, I think Geebz is one of the few that can fully appreciate that song as a first listen. Although Brain Dance would be phenomenal. Physical Education might even be a better one to start with!
I could be the only person who thinks this but you shouldn’t apologize about going too in depth. I could really listen to you talk for an hour about each song. I started watching for the Tool and have since discovered new music! Great channel!
Courtney is rly an exceptional frontman, simply bc how she manages to connect with fans, even through several layers of media. Not even talking about obvious, like vocals
Great stuff dude. Killed me with that first pause lol, I was primed for the head bang. Also, check out the spiritbox official channel. In the last few days they’ve released some new live stuff, it’s even better than this in my opinion.
I love that you let the songs ride for a bit. It drives me nuts when reactors pause it every 10 seconds. You absorb it and then give great insight. Cheers!
Ugh I love her. She’s literally got it all. And you do the same thing I do when listening. The goosebumps, the listening face you make when you are listening for correct pitch and key. I love it. Here voice almost makes you emotional. It’s that good. Great to see you enjoy it as much as I did haha.
Probably the coolest thing about these videos is seeing you geek about the technical music aspects of the songs them selves. also I hope you learned that spiritbox is like a family business. All self made through friends, family, and an incredible passion for heavy music. Thanks for supporting them. I absolutely love them!
Aloha brother! Just wanted to say thank you for the content that you've shared over the last month. Music is a passion for me and especially dissecting songs for their really cool rhythms, time signatures, arrangements, etc. and this year has been tough because of the forced separation it's hard for me and my friends to get together to do that. Your channel has been a bright spot here at the close of this very challenging year! So thank you again, Merry Christmas, mele Kalikimaka to you and yours. Keep on brother!
thank you for making this video! I had heard Spiritbox a couple years ago and really liked them, but I listen to A LOT of music and they fell off my radar. Watching this rekindled my interest in the band!
For your "through the universe" comment - I think you absolutely nailed that. I thought to myself it almost had a cosmic vibe right out of the chaos. Right on.
Glad you enjoyed the song mate! Don't worry about researching a band beforehand. So much of what people are looking for in these metal reactions is the reaction to the first time hearing the band/scream etc :P.
I'm sure you'll get a lot of reactions for Spiritbox's more recent stuff such as Holy Roller or Blessed Be which are both cool songs but I'd recommend Perennial for an look back at their past. It's a very "pretty" sounding song with a really gorgeous music video too to accompany it. ruclips.net/video/vMfWx9QJJck/видео.html
This is my favorite band currently. I love how they seem to just jump effortlessly from dreamy atmospheric to brutal modern progressive metal and back again. I love their new full length release ETERNAL BLUE.
I have been playing music for 15 years and I never really noticed (or even knew they were called) pads until you brought it up and explained it here. Didn't even notice it in this song even though I've listened to it almost everyday for the past 2 months. Now I'm noticing pads everywhere and it's amazing! Thanks for sharing your knowledge and enthusiasm for music!
Glad you finally got to spiritbox. You should check out there live in studio performance of the Mara effect part 1,2&3 it’s epic. I think you would love it.
Dude, you have the best reaction videos on RUclips. I’m calling it. You always hear things i haven’t heard and i am A musician so that’s rare. Also love seeing How happy, passionate and genuine you are.
I love that you acknowledged just how sick the chorus riff is on this song! I feel like it gets overshadowed a bit by courtney's vocals and most folks end up glossing over it, but the actual guitar work is just incredible.
If you're going to do Spiritbox, you have to see their earlier incarnation...the band was called "iwrestledabearonce" (yes, I wrestled a bear once, all one word).
I know you have a ton of recommendations. That being said, the harmonizing in Trust Fall by Spiritbox is incredible! I think the song would trip you out.
Unleash the archers has a studio playthrough that's pretty great, to describe the music just imagine the soundtrack to fighting a dragon with no shirt and a sword too long to realistically wield.
Im just here to appreciate not only that you listened to Spiritbox but also because you love Guthrie Govan and he's a genius that inspires my own guitar playing. Also, love your insight on arranging and production. These are the things that help me appreciate music so much more. I had never noticed all the details in those pads in the quiet section right after the first screaming section. Thanks for opening up my ears
I saw this one take for the first time, never had heard the band before, and about fell over at the “I Deed it”. Came right here for the after song. Glad to see it was also enjoyed.
Man love coming back to even your old videos, I love listening to someone geek out and giving me a massive amount of info to think about. I think this channel has been the biggest inspiration for my own growth as a singer and as someone who loves music 💜
Your style of reacting is AMAZING!!! It's so informative and great. This is music I listen to all the time but you teach me new things every time and give me even more appreciation for it!
I love how you talked about the other instruments in the song. Courtney's voice is amazing but the overall songwriting deserves discussion. You nailed it😀
Oh hey Geebz! Please more Spiritbox! Yellow Jacket (ft Sam Carter from Architects) off the new album is fantastic! ... Honestly anything from Eternal Blue is great.
Geeking out is great. Don't apologize for how you've been doing things, explaining things, etc. You're very interesting to listen to with regards to how you analyze and discover sections of composition.
This is what i love about RUclips comments. It reminds us we are all humans 👏 I agree 100 bazillion gajillion percent.
Geebin out
agreed i love when reactors like genuinely freak out (not when they do it just for the video but like a genuine reaction)
Man, it is so refreshing to see a "reaction" video that they actually appreciate the pads, builds, and everything else. Actually listening to the music!
Thanks Jared!

This needs to be done!
Yep, 100%
This.
Couldn’t agree more. Love seeing reactions to that one. I’ve watched it so many times and it still blows me away.
Don't apoligize my dude, you're very educational, you're making me notice stuff I never noticed in songs I've heard a million times

Yeah, the liquid metal live videos are wayy better, plus has all members playing
Thanks for adding this. These guys deserve any recognition they get. Super talented.

Courtney is an animal, so much emotion and power, please do spiritbox - constance
Mike their guitarist, and Courtney’s husband has guitar play through of most of their songs, which I think you’d enjoy.
Welcome to Spiritbox, who have yet to release a full length album. This band is going to be MAAAASSSSIVE.
blud was right
Wow, your details on her voice's description amazed me too.
The Contortionist is coming soon, I can feel it

@@charliekemp-byles4449 nahhhh. defiantely the studio version. either that, sugar or the offering
i dont have the ear to appreciate music to this level so its great to watch u dissect it with such love for detail
Courtney seems to hit those screams at perfect pitch so effortlessly. Its insane to watch

The Mara Effect pts 1-3 live at Silverside Sound, its all in one video. That is a must!
Courtney is simply BAD ASS as we say on the southside of Chicago. 🤘👊🤘
You are about the best "reaction" dude I think I´ve seen. You seem humble, genuine, and "normal" and that goes far in my book. Keep it up, Sir. 👍
Drumroll Tony is pretty good too. Don't know if he's been active for as long as this guy, though.
I have great plans to binge all your videos, I initially planned to have them on in the background while working, but I think this channel deserves my full attention
The harmonies in this song are absolutely gorgeous.
I'm totally here for the geeking out!
Ok lets watch another 20 vocal reactions of Courtney, lets go.
You´re cool by the way !
The king of blue balling the entire audience with those pause timings - just jokes, still loved your analysis, keep it up!
Instantly subbed after you described it as "flying through the universe" WORD FOR WORD MY REACTION ALSO!
A full head of hair! Never would have expected. Big Mahalo bro! I really like this performance
That description of her "coming at you like a comet" was dope
Cool reaction. I've listened to this song like 100 times since it came out and you made me notice things in it that I'd not really picked up on before, like the pads. Yea check out iwabo both early stuff and the later stuff.
@derp derpin aww, you fishing for clout? Look at you go, you little rebel.
Iwrestleabearonce was another project. Courtney replace the original singer and Mike was their touring guitarrist. Nothing to do with Spiritbox.
The emotion you showed listening to this and to Periphery hits home. Loving all the reactions.
Their 3 part live performance on Liquid Metal is out of this world
