1.) This is medieval times. The church was brutal as fuck. Anyone, and I mean ANYONE who spoke up against it would've faced the same fate or worse their families would'vd too. You saw the way the priest looked at the guy who simply said he made a small study of it? The moment you let it slip that you feel bad for the witch, you and your whole family would've been Kentucky Fried Peasant.
2.) How do you know no one felt sorry for her? Just because no one spoke up? The old lady felt sorry but never spoke up. Dracula spared her because she verbally expressed her regret. However Dracula doesn't know what everyone is thinking. There could be others who feel the same but just never ran into him and couldn't express it to him and couldn't express it out loud because the church would've torch they asses.
His anger is understandable but not justifiable. I mean we see CHILD corpses.

Funny thing about Castlevania lore (actually, it's very sad) is that this is the SECOND TIME THIS HAPPENED TO DRACULA. Before he was Dracula, he was a holy knight named Matthias. He lost the love of his life to illness and felt that he was betrayed by God. There’s a big difference between this Dracula and Mathias. This Dracula already had a kill count, aka, going out an impaling people and razing towns to the ground. Mathias on the other hand, stayed in hiding and focused on his studies. Most of the world didn’t even know of his existence, only a select few did, but they never bothered him because he didn’t bother anybody, as he had no reason too. It wasn’t until Carmilla came along and started the witch trials (her primary goal being to kill off the Belnades family who were causing problems for her) which then got Lisa caught in the middle of it, which Alucard was there at her crucifixion. Alucard (Adrian at the time) then ended up joining his father in the Genocide of humans, which he then later betrayed his father as he realized that he was going against his mothers wishes. Adrian’s betrayal only left Isaac, Hector and Death on Dracula’s side, but once Hector realized what Dracula was doing, he himself also left and went into hiding (he did this after Dracula sent him out with an army of monsters in hopes to assassinate Trevor before Trevor entered Wallachia, as the Belmonts were exiled not excommunicated. Hector used the distance to kill the army and run away, albeit wounded which caused him to collapse outside of a village where he would meet his future wife, the nun Rosaly).

The church only has power over the people when the people give power to the church. Had the people of Wallachia as a whole said "No" then the church would have had to reassess their standing. The bishop couldn't have handled the entire population. Its only because they believed the Bishop to be right, and gave his words power over them, that he was able to keep them all reigned in. If that illusion was shattered? what could that one man have done against an angry horde of a thousand or more?
That is what Dracula points out to his son. When he says "Anyone of them" He doesn't mean if only one person had stood up. He means any and everyone of those people could have done so. That is why there were no innocents in his eyes. He had already told the lady who brought flowers to the burned house to leave. He had already spared the one innocent person he saw. Not a single person stood up to stop the burning. Had even a handful of people done so, they likely would have received protection from Dracula. He spared a lady for just bringing flowers, just think of what he would do for people who actually attempted to save his wife. But since not even a single person even attempted to stop it, stood up to do the right thing, they were all to cowardly to act, and thus where just as guilty of the crime as the bishop.
At least in the eyes of Dracula.

The sad thing is it's true. Other people in fictional media have done similar things under similar circumstances. Take Billy Butcher for example, the man wants to violently kill all superheroes because one raped his wife. However he's still looked at as the good guy. The only difference between Dracula and people like that is Dracula is killing humans. If Dracula had been a human killing all vampires he'd have been a hero. Tell me I'm wrong.

I mean, in The Boys show, pretty much every supe we see is either a horrible person or standing by while other supes do horrible things. The show says multiple times that Butcher isn't really that good either as he's willing to cross a lot of lines to get what he wants, it's just that he hasn't done anything yet that truly sways a lot of people beyond just being an asshole.
Starlight us pretty much the only true good supe they have right now.
And if Vlad was human and killing vampires, yes we would see him as good. Unless you showed that vampires have done and are capable of good, then he would be the antagonist again. But every vampire we have seen at best sees humans as livestock. There have been no vampires that have done good without possibly hundreds of years of brutality and sadism in the show including Vlad.
The people in the city were dumb for not leaving but we are never given any reasons why, just that they didn't. Vlad was a guy who wanted to die and wanted to bring everyone down with him, including people who had no clue what even happened.

Both have certain positive qualities, so much is true. Billy does care for family and Dracula loves his wife, to name a few. Their rage doesn't come from nowhere either but in the end of the day they take it to far. Especially Dracula.
Billy is propably the better one out of the two. He hates homelander for obvious reasons and I don't think acting against him is unreasonable. Though, while doing so he willingly keeps hurting those around him, no matter if friend, enemy or bistander (He may get better on this one as the show progresses). He seems to have certain sadistic tendencies and uses people like tools. Not to mention him essentialy throwing all supes in the same boat.
Dracula is straight up insane. Some dudes killed his wife and his answer is murdering the entire world. His anger is fine, him killing the priests in Targoviste is fine. Him genociding the world is not. There is zero justification for that. Zero. None. Nada. Nichts. Nanimonai. Tipota. You don't get to murder me cause some fucker pissed in your soup. You can put it however you want but you don't get to let your anger out on me. You don't get to punish me for something I didn't do. I don’t really feel bad for this Dracula since he was already going out and killing people, hell for reasons as small as insults from merchants he razed an entire village to the ground. Sure, Lisa came around and helped him realize what he was doing was wrong, sure and sure I get why he did it. The Dracula I really feel bad for is the actual series’ Dracula, Mathias Cronqvist; up to a certain point because he himself is also a manipulative piece of shit. At least with Mathias, he was minding his own business. He wasn’t doing anything to anybody when he met Lisa. He was living his best life, albeit it under the pretenses that Lisa was potentially the reincarnation of his dead wife Elisabetha, but still. He was not only raising a family, but he was also teaching Hector and Isaac, who were kids when they met (Hector who was an outcast in his village for bringing dead animals back to life, who was then told by said animals that he could have a better life at Dracula’s Castle. Thing is, leaving the village unnoticed would be hard so the animals set fire to the church to cause a distraction, going against Hector’s protests of not wanting anybody to be hurt. But he left anyways, on the way he met up with Isaac, who was the oldest child from a Noble family, he just wanted to learn magic from Dracula so that he could be an even bigger asshole noble). Hector and Isaac were roughly a year or so older than Adrian (Alucard), but he still taught them anyways. He was fine, he was vibing until Carmilla started the witch trials to kill off the Belnades family, which in turn got Lisa caught in the middle, and at the same time got Alucard involved because he watched his mom be crucified. Alucard joined his dad before realizing that he was going against his moms final words and betrayed his father and fled to wait for help (since he knew he was in no way strong enough to fight his dad by himself). Which left Hector and Isaac, then Hector betrayed Dracula and left once he realized what Dracula was doing. Which left Dracula with only Isaac and Death. Then Isaac left to kill Hector which left Dracula alone with Death. That’s around the time that Trevor entered Wallachia (at the request of the Pope) and helped Sypha, Grant and beat the dogshit out Alucard due to the Belmonts supernatural powers and innate holy magic that they have. The four entered the Castle, Trevor making friends in there to act as double agents, the four heroes killing Death and then Trevor not only beating Dracula into submission with his bare fists but killing him with the Vampire Killer.
So Mathias not only lost his wife and son. He lost both of his students, Hector essentially being an adoptive son as he was Dracula’s favorite, he then lost his right hand man (Death) all the while being hunted down by his ex-best friends (Leon) descendant (Trevor) and being killed right in front of his son.
So..Mans was vibing, wife got killed, sold his immortal soul to a primordial being (Chaos), had his family torn apart and then got killed by his best friends descendant…and to add insult to injury his family home crumbled to the ground afterwards.
