Amon's ability was explained in the Art Books. As we've seen in the last few episodes of Book 1 of ATLA, waterbenders are able to heal by using water as a catalyst. Healing is the manipulation of chi inside the body and it works by "shifting" this chi where is needed. Amon used the same concept, using his knowledge of chi blocking. He manipulates the chi and completely shuts off the chi paths by using the blood inside his victims. How metal is that?
@@anthonyvega-fujioka4464 they never said he regretted it. I’m gonna say my take on the whole mako thing. Mako is still very young, without a full grasp of how to deal with his own feelings. As we have seen, mako indeed loves asami and Korra. Now, loving 2 girls at the same time is very difficult and we see that constantly from mako. He can’t control the way he feels, so what happened just happened. I don’t think he’s being a player at all bc he truly cares for the both of them. It’s just that his feelings for Korra is getting the better of him. He doesn’t wanna hurt either of them so he made some dumb choices. I’m not excusing what happened, and yea it was annoying to see that. All I’m sayin is that I do understand mako. So I don’t think he doesn’t care about their feelings, he just doesn’t know how to deal with loving the both of them. Is he a loveable dumbass? U bet. But a full on player with no regard for their feelings? Far from it. I just wanted to tell y’all my take on this. I love watching y’all’s videos😁
This is SO true. The first time I watched Korra, I remember being so annoyed by him because he kind of jumped between the two, but as I've watched and payed more attention I have grown to actually love him. And for the people who hate him and bash him for his bad decisions, what did you expect?! He's just a dumb teenager who learned to grow 😂
So, you know how qi blockers use fast jabs to neutralize bending? What happens is that the jabs block the person's qi path temporarily; in Amon's case, he uses bloodbending to permanently sever the qi pools to the qi paths and thereby causing the person to permanently loose their bending. IMO, Katara could have developed an anti-severing technique if she had developed more her bloodbending, but because she didn't fully understand it and just labeled it "dark", she just didn't. Can you imagine how much good you could do if you combined water healing with bloodbending? I mean think about it: you could literally regenerate cells in your body or purifying blood or even heal bone marrow to prevent leukemia... And.... ...Spoiler... Kyoshi did combine earthbending with semi-bloodbending to keep an "inventory" of all her cells thereby being able to slow down the aging process so she lived for over 200 years.
This is why I seriously hope bloodbending is legal outside the United Republic; seriously the SWT really could make use of a bloodbending task force for both combat and healing purposes.
The way Amon takes away bending is through a combination of blood bending and chi blocking. Similar to how when Azula struck aang with lightning and blocked him from using the Avatar state until his final battle with ozai.
7:25 I think In first season Atla, when the pirates tried to blow up Zuko, Zuko bent the explosion around him and away from him creating some weird semi safe bubble. Idfk lmao.
That is kinda brilliant actually! But I guess it might have spoiled the shocking reveal of Tarrlok saying “Amon is my brother”. Because we don’t know any bloodbender in the show, and the title would clearly refer to brothers who were bloodbenders. Still, pretty good idea though! If the backstory was shown an episode after the reveal though, it would work splendidly.
Amon uses blood bending to sever chi paths, similar to how chi blockers use pressure points to block bending temporarily. But his blood bending abilities allow him to sever the chi path completely, causing permanent damage.
According to an interview I watched, Dante Basco came prepared with a specific voice he wanted to use when he auditioned for Zuko. But the voice casting people kept asking him to tweak the voice and eventually he just read the lines using his normal voice and they were like "yeah, that's perfect".
Korra's lack of spirituality comes more from her personality rather than from her natural element and yes no spirit world connection no avatar state access more or less
@Lady Seashell Bikini If you want another deep think about it. The last air Bender fits the definition of air while legend of korra fits the definition of water
I love this episode because it follows Avatar’s theme about how even the most cruel and angry people could have started out as innocent children at one point, victim to something that shaped them.
The way I always saw it, Amon uses blood bending as an advanced form of Chi Blocking, using his powers to permanently block someone's natural energy paths, therefore taking away their bending
If you can get over the illusion of the moons phases (unblocking the 3rd eye/light chakra) you can see that the moon is always "full". Bloodbending just like any other skill, if you practice it enough, it becomes second nature.
I've always assumed that the way Amon takes away bending, is by some sort of internal chi blocking. Like a pressure point within the body that can only be reached with bloodbending.
Amon transferred the hate and revolt he had for his father to bending, because it is easier to believe that the source of evil is the power than to accept that it is part of us
I love how both TLA and TLOK treats their villain like a actual person. We can understand why they are the way their are, we see and relate with their struggles and motives. And this is so well done, so natural. I miss this in more shows and movies
Now that the cats out of the bag, take a look back at Katara bloodbending in S3, her hand motions when bloodbending are very similar to when Aang and Amon take away someone's bending.
Side note: Republic city is more 20s/art deco style. The Satomobile is reminiscent of a Ford Model T and the fighter planes are similar to those used in ww1. Everytime Kenny says its "50s style", I die a little inside 😢
You haven't seen Korra enter the avatar state because she hasn't mastered all four elements. Even for Aang, we only saw him go into it when his life is in danger or when he raged. Korra seems to be more in control with her abilities
Regarding Aang's mastery of the avatar state, he was just incredibly gifted and powerful. Normally the avatar can't access the avatar state so early in development, that usually happens around 16-17, like Korra. But Aang was special in that he was so connected to the spiritual side of things, and thus more in tune with the avatar state. He couldn't really control it, but it activated when he really needed it because of all this, and when he did so, it was just the purest form of raw power because technically, the avatar state is ALL avatars coming together with their combined wisdom to do something incredible, without giving away too many spoilers.

Now that the cats out of the bag, take a look back at Katara bloodbending in S3, her hand motions when bloodbending are very similar to when Aang and Amon take away someone's bending.
I love Kenny's version of history where he earnestly believes the 1920s = 1950s. Bless him. 🌸
I hope you both last forever. I know all couples fight, but you both seem like you don't at all. Chill vibes, love to see it
I'm 22 and don't have any friends and watching with you guys makes me feel like I'm with friends
Little Fun Fact: In German Zuko, Howard from Big Bang Theory and Turk from Scrubs share the same voice actor.
General Iroh doesn't have only the voice, but his face is the same as Zuko's
3:02 I mean, Bolin and Mako were hobos. Maybe it’s a solidarity thing. Maybe they’ve already met Gommu!
Yay I’m so excited
I was SHOOK in the season finale. Like wtf? Tarrlok and Amon didn’t deserve that.
Bloodbending is the only bending known to corrupt a bender's mental state.
that whole time you guys were discussing about Amon's backstory and everything im just focusing on the cat
Korra can’t use the avatar state because she has no mastery over it, and so far nothing has triggered it.
Side note: Republic city is more 20s/art deco style. The Satomobile is reminiscent of a Ford Model T and the fighter planes are similar to those used in ww1. Everytime Kenny says its "50s style", I die a little inside 😢
It's a good thing I'm a day ahead of you guys. This is a perfect thing to wake up to on Christmas!
You haven't seen Korra enter the avatar state because she hasn't mastered all four elements. Even for Aang, we only saw him go into it when his life is in danger or when he raged. Korra seems to be more in control with her abilities
also amon was not alone when he took tarloq's bending - he had to keep his non-bender but spirit gifted legend
I always get pearl harbour vibes from the planes attacking the fleet...
Sunday...just wait till you two see the finale...so many emotions. Great show
Thank you so so much for uploading this today!
This truly feels like a Christmas present~
I was just waiting for them to realize that zuko’s kid was actually a daughter cause they kept saying son 😂
I think when you hit your lowest point your open to the greatest change
The Stadia ad had perfect timing.
Ну теперь жду финал увидеть до нового года, а после уже в январе будем смотреть 2 книгу.
Did you noticed that young Tarrlok has the same curl on his forhead like Bolin?
Man, how sad is to think living in a world without bending, right? Can't imagine how it would be
1:11 this is mad disrespectful. My boi aang ended a 100 year war as a 12 year old and you wanna do this. We can’t let this slide Amon 😤
