  • Changing out the window panel for a 2007 Dodge Nitro. Once the window regulator breaks, the entire internal window panel needs to be replaced. One of dodges great designs., This is a cable pulley design; The window fits into a plastic slot the is control by the cables and pulleys built into the window panel....good luck !....
    Note: The panel is about $180 bucks at the dodge dealership. Make sure you ask them if the take AAA..some do and you can get a 10% discount.

    Thanks for your video! It saved me about $180 in labor.
    Notes about removing and replacing the door handle from the panel:
    1. The small black plastic piece connecting the door handle to the metal bar flips forward and then the metal bar can be pulled down to disconnect it.
    2. When I was putting the door handle back on the metal pin wouldn't slide all the way down. The bottom hole in the panel mold was made too small. I had to take a drill and widen it a bit. Once I did that the metal pin went all the way through.
    Oh, and reconnecting the cable for the window control was a pain in the a..! What contortionist put that in!!!

    this video helped while I was in a pretty foul mood finding out dodge made a cable driven window.. my only notes are.
    -Remove the speaker before you remove the inner panel, it makes disconnecting so much easier.
    -When you get everything disconnected, your panel is going to be stuck in the upper left hand corner, there are 3 slide locks, so you have to horse your panel to the right (towards the hinges) to disengage them.

      @@spyder981 ideally you would put it back like you took it off although i broke 2 of the tabs and from what i can see, those tab just hold the plastics together to prevent rattle

    5 parts you need from your local Home Depot store to repair that common Nitro problem. A 3/8in*1in*3/8in nylon spacer, a M8-1.25x35mm cap screw/bolt, a M8-1.25 T-Nut set, a M8 washer (total diameter bigger than the nylon spacer), and a bottle of your favorite thread locker. You remove the broken wheel channel in the top of the based as well as the rivet (use a drill and work your way with patience. Very important not to drill continuously because you will melt the plastic!!!). After removing the culprit, take the nylon spacer and shave 1/8in of material in one side. Then, make a channel about 1/8 to 3/16in all around the spacer in the middle with a file--triangle shape works best. Put thread locker on the bolt, put the washer, then spacer, and then install in the plastic base. Put the nut and tighten.
    The cables can be rewound again. Best way to do it is to remove the regulator motor and rewind the cables right there. A rule of thumb is that each cable must hold half of the plastic wheel.
    Don't forget to grease the parts. Use lithium based.
    Allow the thread locker to dry before using (at least 1 hour).

    • @jmichelzzzboy
      @jmichelzzzboy  5 лет назад

      Omar...the handles were defective too...they were redesigned after a few years ..you can see the difference on the new ones where they added more material at the stress point. I replaced all of mine. You have to remove the door panels to remove the handles. They are easy to replace once you remove the panel. As i recall there is one knurled pin about 2 inches long holding the handle in place...i think you can use a small pin or screwdriver to knock it out from the bottom...also remove the latch attach. The spring will fall out once you remove the pin...so take a picture of how the spring was in there. Its a 5 minute job. I bought the handles online..cant remember the website..but i think they were about 30 bucks each. Good luck.

    My rear right window just broke not even 2 hours ago. I have to buy all the parts first then look into figuring it out or getting it professionally done so I don’t screw it up 💔. I’m so heart broken though. Like, WHYYYY? 😭 This is a sick joke ☹️. Also, thanks for this video on so many levels. This has given me a lot of hope, bro! Also, do you recall prices of the internal panel and cable/pully system and where you purchased them from? I’ve found some I think may be it but just wondered how you went about it purchase wise and what you would recommend? I solely keep this entire Nitro (2008 Electric Blue Pearl w/ black trim) up myself, so this would be very new for me to conquer. #terrified

    • @jmichelzzzboy
      @jmichelzzzboy  6 лет назад

      Daniel Angulo ..hey Daniel...i think it was less the 200$...keep in mind the pulleys are built into the panel..so its just one piece....see the beginning view of the entire panel. It is actually not that difficult a job. If you get it from a dealer make sure you ask if the give any discounts...like AAA... Good luck !

    STUCK? YOUR DOOR PANEL SLOTS WONT SLIDE OFF LATCH BRACKET TABS?!?.
    i own the 4.0 R/T 4x4, dont know if this vid is or not but year is same. anyways, behind carrier plate(hinge side toward door handle) you see 3 tabs slotted into the latch bracket. 1 front(top), 2 in back. what you don't see and not in any manual is the stopper tab preventing slide off, located directly under top and in front of bottom tabs. use flathead to lift front bottom half of bracket 1/4 inch away from Carrier Plate to release blocker and slide off. your welcome

      you dont actually "remove" the window...you have to "release" it from the part shown at .26 of the video ..then pull it up....at .26 shows the part on the inside of the panel that the window is attached to.
      . at 8.16 it discusses the button you have to push in to release the window...13.20 has some more detail on that...
