The recruiter hates the fact that he himself is just a dog, a pawn for the higher ups despite wanting to separate himself from the trash. The bun lottery thing is his way of grasping what little of control he has over the homeless and get a kick out of it
I disagree. He's a guy who absolutely loves what he does with all his being. If the Squid Games are a religion, the recruiter is one of its most faithful devotees. The whole thing with the bread and lottery is just him embracing the ideology of the games, maybe to reaffirm himself about it being true, maybe because he loves shoving that in people's faces. That's his way of "preaching".
I think bro knew he wasn't going to make it out of there alive and decided to have a bit of fun for his last day and how does he do that? By fucking with people. It was planned, they couldn't find that man for two years and then they suddenly find him like that? And he had that card in his pocket the whole time. It was def planned and bro knew he probably wasn't going to make it out of there so he was having a bit of a laugh. He probably still had a bit of hope but knew that he was very likely gonna die going in.
@@ApartDragonFruit It wasn't too suddenly. It was the same season Ji Hun was recruited and the most max search pattern he has ever done. We see people get cards who later show up in the games. Recruiting was something that had to happen. There's no indication of any 'plan' before he goes to the hotel. The rest still plays out like he just caught on to being followed. He says to the survivor "we should talk." This indicates he finds out about the search at that point. He could then call the Front Man who gives him the order to bring the card. All the games being his ideas of fun. But only just before the last one he accepts it could be the end.
@johnnymittle just because it isn't obvious doesn't mean it didn't happen, you have to read between the lines. That's part of watching a tv show. The salesman was at the subway stations, you can see when they were showing the clips of people getting hit in ep 3. Still, Gihun had men at the stations from open to close the pretty much all year round. They would have found him in those 2 years already if there wasn't a plan involved. 333 wasn't the first player recruited either, we see that 222 already has her card when she sits at the ob/gyn office. The timing is very suspicious. If he wasn't avoiding Gihun he would have been caught years ago. They didn't just let a winner disappear for 2 years. They knew where he was and what he was doing and were actively avoiding him. They made a plan because they knew he was becoming volatile and knew exactly who Wooseok and the mob boss were when they started tailing him. It definitely wasn't a coincidence and it definitely was purposeful that he let himself he found by the next powerful person other than Gihun. Just because he asked Wooseok to spill information doesn't mean they don't already know about what's going on, he just wants to know more about what their objective was because he likely wasn't told the full story. They have different ways of monitoring him even after he cut out his tracker and definitely knew what he was doing. They don't want him to know that they are onto him so they make the salesman act as though he's just finding out. Remember, he has a camera in his tie, they probably filmed the whole day too.
Gong Yoo as the Recruiter was so captivating, terrifying and mysterious. And such a different role for him. Absolutely incredible! And Janci is right, he doesn't seem to age! (he's 45!)
Very captivating! I thoroughly enjoyed watching Gong Yoo act out a disturbing character. Such a contrast from his usual roles but also himself in real life whenever I've seen him in more casual interviews or as a guest on variety shows, he always has this child like innocence and curiosity to him☺
In case you didn´t pick up on it, the main guy working for Gi-Hun was the loanshark that threatened him during the first episode of Squid Game at the horse race
He kind of became a loyal gi hoon underling, touching in a way (he could have stolen gi hoons money or led gi hoon along and milked gihoon dry, but he didnt)
Yep same exact guy, but this time his relationship with Gi-Hun has change since the debt problem was solved ages ago and now Gi-Hun literally hired him to find the recruiter guy
Now thats how you play Rock Paper Scissors 😂 I actually really liked the Loan Shark Leader. He reeked of being sorta slimy and i expected him to not only take Gi Hun's money but also screw over his right hand man. But not only did he stay true to his word and make his men work for the money they were earning from Gi Hun,but he actually sacrificed his life for his partner. Same here I thought he was taking the money But he starting putting the pieces together he did said that a lot of people ordered money and they disappeared. He knew something was up
I think he was just referring in terms of the children’s games they play. Like different countries have different childhood games, so him saying that Korea has the best games is probably just about the games played by children, rather than the games being hosted around the world.
@@LocalGH16He said, “The games in Korea are always the best.” It doesn’t make sense that he’s only talking about the kinds of games within the overall game because saying “in Korea” implies that they’ve seen the games played elsewhere. Even if he is only referring to the mini games, what and where is he comparing it to?
So, even if Gi-Hun puts a stop to the games in Korea, he won't be able to put a stop to it in other countries. Unless he becomes Nick Fury and gathers other like-minded people like him.

13:25 Actually, it seemed like he was depicting how you get yourself into squid game. You don’t know you’re gonna get killed - you don’t know you can’t pick both bread and lottery, but you pick with your greed. money. It’s easier to target the people who are struggling for money. after red light green light, they let people go last season even after witnessing the death? they still chose to come back. this was your choice to let go of this good bread over your greed..
I believe the recruiter played a game that could have killed him because he was not allowed to lead Gi Hun to his boss. I think The recruiter had more survival chance playing Russian roulette than giving that information to Gi Hun.
@22:18 The probability of winning if you go first is 11/30 (36.7%) versus your opponent's 19/30 (63.3%) probability of winning. It is nearly twice as good to play second.
You have to have in mind that this batch of episodes isn't series 2, but rather series 2, part 1. Series 3 being series 2, part 2. As a result you shouldn't expect a fulfilling ending to this batch.
I see the title of this episode and its reference to the Latin phrase panem et circenses (bread and circuses) as a sort of summary or overarching statement about the show's core themes. It encapsulates much of what Squid Game explores and will likely remain central to its message. Definitely something worth keeping in mind imo. The phrase was coined by the Roman poet Juvenal as a critique of the political strategy of providing superficial appeasement, such as food and entertainment, to pacify the masses - a way of keeping people distracted from systemic issues like corruption, inequality, and exploitation. The choices presented to the players and the homeless people are nothing but an illusion. They’re carefully crafted by the powerful to appear as opportunities, but in reality, they are traps with no good resolution. The system gives the poor the illusion of choice, then uses their inevitable suffering as proof of their so-called inferiority. It’s a cruel mechanism of control - mocking the 'failures' while denying them any meaningful path to escape their plight. What does a piece of bread mean to a homeless person? It’s a temporary and insufficient resource that will soon be gone. It won’t create lasting change in their lives, especially when they can often find ways to obtain such basics, even in challenging times. A lottery, on the other hand, could offer a chance at long-term improvement. It’s a gamble, of course, but one that many of us take from time to time. Moreover, it will also become clear that even those seemingly in power are themselves victims of the system. The show reveals how oppression trickles down, turning the downtrodden against one another and fostering an 'Us vs. Them' mentality. They were given a small amount of power that helped them feel better about themselves, more 'special', and in turn, it then made them forget about their own subjugation. This division keeps the oppressed distracted and fragmented, preventing them from recognizing their shared struggle. (The grim reality, however, is that some people are content with this state of affairs because, ultimately, our focus tends to remain on the here and now - our own comfort and survival taking precedence over everything else.)
I really wish and hope the Blind Wave could do a reaction to Moving (disneyplus kdrama series) it is a great series I think these guys will love Moving 🤞❤

Fun but hard to notice fact, the recruiter initially put in blanks, and then all blanks with one live.

31:59 I think it’s Andrea Bocelli.
i was waiting for you guys to react, but it's a shame you don't remember much from s1, you even mistook the main character's name! if you had rewatched the 1st season first, your season 2 reaction would've been better.
I was unsure where they could go with season 2 without being a complete copy of season 1, It wasn't quite as good as season 1 but I still really Enjoyed it.
Also, I'd love it if you guys reacted to a Korean Superhero show that came out about a year ago called "Moving". I thought it was really good and it was a nice change from all the Marvel and DC content that feels a bit stale.
Finally I was wating your reaction guys! thank you so much!!! love it! ^^
I really do feel frustrated whenever they write on their pad and missed what they saying thru Subtitle. Lol
