Success! At time 2:14 the right turn onto W Randolph went to the thru-lane bypassing the shop lane. This is the first time I've seen FSD do that. It didn't have to deal with the road closed sign so don't know if that was a source of past confusion but even so the navigation to the thru-lane is a win. Also FSD didn't get confused/stopped by the pedestrians approaching the median strip. Great test and very clear video.
Very impressed with handling the road closed sign and Divvy van loading situations, especially with pedestrians & cyclists coming & going. It's handling really complex stuff safely.
Looking at visualization behavior around pedestrian crossing is better on stops. It starts going to the center when it knows pedestrians wont be there instead of waiting until they are all the way out of the road. Thats a huge plus in busy cities.
"Road Closed" sign around 2:15...FSD appeared to actually avoid the blocked road (that's new) and did find an available route (not the "service lane"...the immediate right turn that used to be blocked by the sign). Part of the hesitation might have been due to the two pedestrians approaching the crosswalk as it was going into the turn. Looks like real progress to me.
Overall that was a very smooth drive! Like you said, nothing dangerous, which is the most important bar to clear and arguably the one needed to start robotaxis. @Frenchie Are you planning to do a side by side comparison again to show progress? Might be a good point to compare the single stack in the future as well. Also a drive in downtown Chicago on this version? Once again; thank you! 🙏
Would love to see how it does on the section of Lake street that goes under the EL that gets really narrow with just the two lanes and pillars on either side. Used to go that route from Oak Park to Garfield Park back in the day. Love your videos!
I let FSD, non BETA go through lower Wacker. Can you go test that as well? Mine always sees the traffic lights on the right as ours when it's the secondary lane on the right. It always slams the breaks seeing it as a red light for me when my lane has a green. Other than that, works well down there. Nice videos as usual! Great job!
It’s slow in its “thinking”, but it’s better than it has been. It made some glaring mistakes, but I didn’t see any DANGEROUS glaring mistakes. I’m amazed that the streets are so deserted ... What’s going on ?!
The un mapped speed bumps will continue to be a problem because the cameras don’t have adequate dynamic range. Our human eyes have incredible dynamic range.
Can you toggle the FSD beta on and off? If so when it’s off are you back on AP/NOAP? Also can you toggle the visualization display from the bigger view to the smaller view? Nice to see good video of FSD in Chicago. 90% of my driving is in the heart of Chicago and it’s looking like things could be a bit dicey for FSD. I’m currently “testing” in for FSD beta 10.2. I’m at 99% overall and over two weeks into the Safety Scoring. Not sure when I’m actually going to get it. It does show the daily graph going up to 10/29. Hope that’s the end of the Safety Scoring.
If I turn off "Full Self Driving" option in settings, it reverts to normal AP. Visualization display will go back to normal size (not expanded). Good luck with the score. Hope you get it soon.
@@FrenchieFSD thanks for the info. Hopefully I make the next round of FSD beta release. I was a week behind before I “push the button”. Keep up the good work on the FSD videos.
FSD is getting so much better. I really hope as more and more people use the beta it improve exponentially. Can't wait to see how much it will improve by 2023.
I think waiting at a stop sign because people are using the crossing the far side of the intersection is a safety thing too far: in busier environments the car will stay put indefinitely when there are p-crossings each side of the intersections.
Interesting that the bike vanished from the visualization at ruclips.net/video/OsTQ9gHjnUc/видео.html . With the work they demonstrated at AI day I would have assumed they keep track of that now. They still might and the threshold was just too low, but still confusing.
That is brave. FSD uses visible wavelength. Anyone with flashlight can disable it. Can't read stop sign. Why everybody else is using coded lidar. Can't be jammed. Sorry fanboy. Ask me for advice. Wimo knows that. So simple and easy to disable FSD. You can't avoid Lidar.
Your setup (camera position + FSD screen quality) is the best from all testers. Simple and clear, great job!
Not to mention golden hour! 💯
I can see a vast improvement already. Great video. Imagine when FSD gets proper amounts of data, it will be better than humans.
I love your camera setup. We get to see all those beautiful brick buildings in Chicago!
Nice set-up, nice route selection and coverage, nice commentary. Subscribed. Nice work thanks!
hmmm definitely an improvement. slowly but surely we're getting there....
Excellent! Much improved.
Great job. Can't wait to see 10.2!!!

Chuck's and yours channel are definitely the best out there. Thanks and keep it up!
Honestly I didn’t even see that speed bump. Great vid tho! Amazing layout.
This was actually very good , picking up my model 3 with FSD next week 😁

Excellent job giving us an accurate understanding of FSD 10.1
Good work, thanks man!
I love the cam mount and 4k quality on these!
Thanks Frenchie!

pause at 5:32. and lets just take a moment to appreciate this guy's outfit shall we?

I think it decided to follow that car.
This is so amazing. Again and again.

First time I see a cowboy in Chicago! @5:31
5:30...
Alright.......

If a pedestrian walks around with a reasonably sized octagon, will the car stop?
How does it handle Michigan Ave/Gold Coast mid-day during the week?

5:32 so he’s just gonna pretend like we didn’t just see Sheeva from Mortal Kombat and Pecos Bill somewhere in Chicago?🤣🤣
Just another day in Chicago ;)

4:53 can you share what’s up with the 2nd stop sign? Why is it there?
when will tesla supercharger work with other EV compatibility?
Wow. I didnt even see the speed bump when you said "speed bump, speed bump!", who designs such things ?
Before 9pm in Chicago and nobody is around (very little traffic). Do all you Midwesterners go to be early?
Who ever sells stop signs in Chicago must be a rich person 😄🤑
I think it may have slowed itself (@7:32) becsuse it thought that white suv flashed. I think thie should be double checked.

Interesting, at 2:42 the pedestrian turned red. That seems new to me.
FRENCHIE!!!;)
Do you know what is coming in 10.2?
Impressive, it looks ready for a wide release.

Edit: go to bed early
So this slow moving nuisance is what I will have to deal with in the near future with these self driving vehicles.

Car turned right in front of people crossing street in the cross walk. This is a joke.
lol, this so fake
