- This year, we brought our Creators & Innovators together at Sage Mountain in San Simeon, California for another rendition of our annual Creators Gathering. Tucked away in a lush, wet, canyon just off the Central California coast, Sage Mountain provided for a quiet, removed setting for creative collaboration, board building, artwork, and good times. For a few days in the canyon, the craftsman came together to riff on board design theories, bringing creative concepts to life and of course surfing.

This was a fun visual collection. Moments, steady progress, and history. Gives a perspective record into Vissla that I never knew about this brand.

Random idea to throw into the works for a cool brand piece: Combine the craft and materials of an acoustic guitar maker with a board maker + pair of sunglasses from same batch of wood for a limited /2 run or something. If just for the workshop, the brand, media, or storytelling opportunity itself, think this would be an awesome collection to see come together and finished out in some sort of cohesive mini collection.
I do these sort of custom limited runs for brands as a senior digital packaging designer, and some feel gimmicky; some are off the deep end; and some thoughtfully come together for an awesome set of showcased hard work and creativity. Stay true and gives those ideas runway, and sometimes you end up with stellar collections to further build on down the line.
