Watching pornography casually or an unintentional glance on pornographic stuff must be regarded as a major sin.
Those who have been consumers of pornography, still have time to step back and enter into an agreement with Allah that he/she will abstain from that major sin and may Allah provide him/her with lawful means of gratification.
Allah always listens to prayers that an individual asks for staying away from sins done in private.

Shaykh Hamza Yusuf said watching porn puts out your inner eye. Shaykh Nouman Ali Khan says you violate your own soul by doing it. Alhamdulillah I am almost 1 year porn free. It was very difficult to stop but not impossible.

Looking at things through a religious lens is important, that's why we're on this channel. But if you're struggling with Porn and religion is not working as a reason to abstain or isn't *enough* of a reason for you, there are PLENTY of other reasons why porn is harmful as well.
Society has made it so acceptable and normalized to watch porn that it’s difficult to even consider otherwise. But more and more people are choosing to quit porn, why is this? Aren’t we all about body positivity, being open with our desires and accepting everyone as they are?
We are and we’ve made great improvements in society being more open and accepting on many fronts, but make no mistake - porn is harmful. This is one area where we need to be extremely careful in how it’s viewed in our society and educate everyone on the many harmful effects.
I want to make it clear that this post is about porn and not masturbation, there’s a big distinction, which is for another post - but for this, we’re keeping it to the harmful nature of porn.
Hopefully this shines a light on the dangers of porn and at the very least serves as a counter-point to what’s become so normalized in our society.
Now, let’s get started.
𝑷𝑰𝑬𝑫: Porn-Induced Erectile Dysfunction. Many males who grew up with porn are finding themselves experience great difficulty in getting hard and maintaining an erection when it comes to sex in real life. Sadly the only way for them to maintain an erection is through porn.
There’s countless stories of men that are finding themselves unable to perform in real life when the opportunity arises - they simply can’t get it up. It’s embarrassing, disheartening, emasculating and ultimately a great loss that neither of you were able to please each other. PIED develops through an overuse of porn, resulting in being desensitized to the point where only porn can arouse you and maintain your erection.
Needing porn for arousal is extremely detrimental and over time you’ll find yourself needing to find increasingly novel pornographic content to give your brain that same dopamine hit. Something your partner can never compare to. This creates a vicious cycle, and eventually leads to seeking more deviant sexual content. We can see this in our own society, when porn first came out, we went from pictures of breasts being risqué, to videos of porn being the norm, and now there’s countless porn categories.
Categories like b*ndage, h*rdcore, and even t*een have become something society has normalized (not to even mention the hundreds of other categories which are even more deviant). How can a partner ever compare to the endless novelty of porn? It's destructive and unhealthy.
Another way that PIED develops is that you become accustomed to using your hand with porn and over time your brain & body is being trained to “get off” specifically in that way. Doing that over and over makes it unable to perform in any different way. This causes things like "death grip" where a man is so used to getting off to his hand w/ porn that when having actual sex, a woman's vagina no longer does it for him as he's so used to his hand. There's entire subreddits dedicated to help men re-train their brain and body.
PIED is one of the most common reasons why porn watchers decide to quit and it makes sense given just how devastating it is and all the negative second order effects. PIED should be reason enough alone to quit porn forever.
Now let's dive into the effects of porn in a 𝙧𝙚𝙡𝙖𝙩𝙞𝙤𝙣𝙨𝙝𝙞𝙥. Porn is massively destructive in intimate relationships and PIED is one part of it, but more specifically by using porn as an outlet to please yourself - it can lead to many additional relationship issues. Through the use of porn, you find your partner less sexually desirable, they may feel rejected if you choose porn over them, many may even see it as a form of cheating, and ultimately your partner feels less loved. There’s also a spiritual bond between you that gets broken.
Sexual connection, bonding, and orgasm should be something that you strive to only share with your partner. By watching porn, it also makes you 𝙡𝙪𝙨𝙩 after people in a direct sexual way. Lust leads to pleasuring yourself in a selfish way instead of with your partner.

In more subtle ways, I genuinely believe by watching porn you become a person who finds life less beautiful. This also spills over into your relationship and you will find your partner less attractive, you yourself are less loving, kind and genuine. Don’t you 𝙬𝙖𝙣𝙩 to be super attracted to your wife, compliment her, feel for her, notice the intricacies of her beauty, see her imperfections and feel even more attracted to her? Just visit r/deadbedrooms for a glance at how porn has ruined so many relationships.
You don’t want to leave any room for a behavior that could potentially lead down a path of destruction in your intimate relationship. Why take that chance?
On another level, I also believe it affects your soul. You become something less of a wholesome person, less of a man, someone who can’t control his desires, and isn’t a person who radiates goodness and pureness. Whether it's PIED, relationship specific, becoming a better version of oneself, or even something as abstract as the soul, these are all things to think deeply about and figure out for yourself whether porn is something net positive or negative in your life. Reflect & ponder.
I believe all these reasons are compounded over time and result in some incalculable long term negative effects of porn. If you treat your partner as your number one source of sexual intimacy you’ll develop a stronger bond, connection, and work through conflicts better. Porn slowly cuts away at you from so many angles and it may not be apparent at first, but over time the relationship will suffer greatly - again, why take that chance.
Hopefully this has been enlightening and sets you on your own journey. Your own journey is what matters and your “why” might be different, but you need to seek it out on your own and only once you find your own meaning will you truly find purpose and peace in quitting.
It’s far from easy, it’s a true struggle, and a great temptation, but once you quit - you’ll hopefully find your life has more meaning, purpose, and the feeling of fully loving your partner will make it all worth it.
Abstaining from porn allows me to embody the “ideal man” in my mind and makes me into someone I’m proud of - someone who’s wholesome, radiates goodness, and loves deeply.
I want to be my most loving self to my partner, find her beautiful day in and day out, compliment freely and openly, notice every intricacy of her, deeply connect, and love her with a heart full of love.

Know my friend that all the prophets marriages were not his personal choice, but by command of God, & each was for a reason.
The one you mentioned for example & her name was Zainab, the Prophet married her after she divorced his adopted son, and that was to set the rule that it is permissible to marry the divorcee of an adopted son.

Watching pornography is indeed sinful, splitting hairs as to whether its a minor sin or major sin should not be our focus. Muslims are called upon to avoid all sins both minor or major to the best of our ability. Pornography can destroy marriages, lead to adultery/fornication, lead us to objectifying the opposite sex, and more importantly, it disengages us from the Quran and the remembrance of Allah (swt) . Yes, it's possible for a Muslim to maintain the fundamental pillars of Islam and still engage in sinful acts such as pornography but in this case our faith in Allah (swt) is weak because pornography is the symptom not the diagnosis.
It's indicative of a spiritual problem (issues that swim in the waters of both the conscious and subconscious realm) it could be something that happened early in life, family dynamics and/or dysfunction, exposure to magazines that promote nudity, a simple curiosity that opened the door to addiction. We can't improve our lives until we admit that we have a problem. Just as yourself, "Is Allah and His Angles pleased with me as I'm viewing pornography?" We know the answer, we're going to commit sin but even if we're too weak to overcome it, never, ever turn your heart over to it and accept it and love it, hate it and reject it in your heart even as you are sinning. You must continue to hate it and pray sincerely to Allah (swt) to bring you out of it and, In sha Allah in time, He will deliver you from the bondage porn addiction.

Objectification is not wrong, if you are speaking in terms of Physics then there is no issue objectifying a human, because a human is an object in space and time.
I think what ive researched on a laymen level...watching porn is a big sin indeed but doing adultery is an actual huge sin! We should nonetheless stay away from both but specifically adultery because its the ultimate level of corruption of the physical aspect! Watching porn is a 1000 times less sinful than fornication but can easily lead to it and should on a collective and social level be condemned! May ALLAH help us!

Yes it's a sin and I have to be honest its not worth destroying your soul. Make repentance if you make a mistake. It's the only way to be happy and please God. Also jinn possession and black magic is real and can literally take over someone's sanity. If someone is possessed Allah will not fault the victim. It's one of the rules.

I think there's a big difference between erotic literature, as you mention, and let's call it live-action pornography. Because whatever may be sinful about the first one, it's at a personal level, whereas in the second case it involves the external sins of others. If you consume the second type of pornography, you are essentially paying people to fornicate (even if you don't pay per se, you contribute to their income through ads, etc.) That factor makes it difficult to separate it from the sin of fornication itself.

From a spiritual perspective we need to look at why we do certain things and get to the root. Is it an addiction? If it is an addiction it’s not really in their control until they heal internally the cause. People escape their pain through through all different kind of addictions. Let's be clear about something. The single most powerful force in the Human condition is Sexual. Sexual identity, roles, expectations and politics rule a huge portion of who we are and how we conduct ourselves. This force is so important that we Humans use it as a kind of "swiss army knife" to address multitudes of issues and problems. Pornagraphy is a symptom that stress and adversity have overwhelmed the individual and the default response is to validate one's place in the World. People are essentially lazy and pedestrian, so that validation falls to the most primal levels such as sex, aggression and self-destruction. Just like noting monkeys who throw feces, pull out their hair and quarrel without end, masturbation and pornagraphy are indications that something is sorely out of kilter. Put frankly, such a activities are corruptions of their healthier sexual expresses bestowed on us by God. Now, knowing that it's always easier and more fun to knock blocks down than stack them up, I'll be the first to admit that building a relationship with God is a whole lot tougher than knocking it down. So there's the choice: wallow in the lowest levels of self-indulgence or make a bid to know something greater than yourself. FWIW.
You don't have to be Muslim to detest pornography its exploitive and destructive to society.
Pornography generally becomes a long lasting habit a bit like alcohol or a drug in that you will become addicted. It should be avoided at all costs as it robs the soul of faith and you eventually become a person without the sweetness of faith. In the Quran it commands to control the gaze in normal circumstances. What about pornography? I think to protect one's faith is paramount as we all want to be in a good state on our last day here.

One of the great teachers in Yemen Habib Omar said if you commission even if it reaches the sky it covers the whole universe so long as you are sincere in your repentance and you regret truly your lord is most forgiving. The rest is my opinion
If you closely look at yourself you will find a lot of love and mercy so wide so beautiful Allah will shade you and cover you so many times until you really realize the mercy and love of Allah is never ending then how can you continue to violate the one who loves you so much and keeps covering for you and making excuses for you?
Don't you feel the love and mercy? You're talking about the one who brings pure souls look into children's eyes because you as a human being you are pure and beautiful and it's this world and it's difficulties that pollute you and violate you.

The job of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him was to purify the hearts and unite them to the Lord Allah.
Famous teachings or saying of the wife of the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him that she said if the prophet would have said stop drinking they would have said we'll never stop drinking? If the prophet said stop fornicating they would have said we would never stop fornicating if he would have told him stop eating interest they would have said we would never stop and above all if you would have told him to stop the wine that they love so much we would not have had so many Muslim followers because the Arabs were very fond of their wine.
He said it is only when their hearts were connected to Allah in Medina that prohibitions begin to descend and people began to spit out the alcohol throw it out and they obeyed right away because their heart was connected to Allah.
Prophet Muhammad literally was a source of light the light of faith if you love him you will be guided all you have to find is those people who are guided who carry this light.
If you connect yourself with these people who carry this lighter purification because they will love you and they will be patient with you and you will change and you will grow and you will have like a shield literally.

Understand the prophet Muhammad peace be upon him is alive and among the great poetries of the great Sufi Masters they say just like your witnessing the sun on the moon you're blessed prophet Muhammad is witnessing you so put your hands up and call upon your profit Muhammad peace be upon him through the blessing of your lord and see how fast you will be rescued from your problems.

When your soul tortures you for watching pornographic things then you know it is one of things Allah wants you to stay away from. Do not let Shaitan trick you into taking a glimpse, because he will trick you in stages, first its a glimpse then its more and more. Here's an ayah from Allah about this:
"O ye who believe! follow not Satan's footsteps: if any will follow the footsteps of Satan, he will command what is shameful and wrong: and were it not for the grace and mercy of Allah on you, not one of you would ever have been pure: but Allah doth purify whom He pleases: and Allah is One Who hears and knows (all things)."
