Yes. Temple of Doom is stupid fun, The Last Crusade is fantastic/very emotional and I always say Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to let people come to their own conclusion about the film instead of parroting the Internet/South Park
I also recommend Raiders of the Lost Ark: The Adaptation which was an amateur remake a group of teenagers made in the late 80s. Unlike Hollywood remakes there’s a lot of passion and heart out into recreating everything

1 & 3 are generally thought of as the best. I think the 3rd film is as good as the 1st.

13:05. Fun fact - there was a big fight scene with the swordsman choreographed, but Harrison was sick that day. He couldn’t hold anything down, but they needed to finish that scene quickly as it was really expensive to shoot (all the extras, extra cameramen, extra stuntmen, etc). Harrison was trying to get through it and he finally rolled his eyes and said, “can’t I just shoot him?” and the director actually loved that idea 😂😂 It’s a great scene!

    • @jessicawhatley1220
      @jessicawhatley1220 2 года назад +13

Yep, and it wasn't just Harrison who was sick. It was the entire crew, who'd eaten at the same place the night before. They didn't expect that the foreign food would have such an impact on their performance, but it's hard to act and film when you can't stay off of the toilet 😂

@@walkofnails2923 Yep. Whenever traveling to other countries it's wise to bring some of your own food in case your stomache can't handle the local cuisine. When Penn and Teller did their global tour they ate exclusively canned food just for that reason... The bacteria in your digestive system is attuned to your regular diet, so if you introduce something from somewhere far away, you can risk having to shoot a guy instead of having an epic swordfight.
If you're lucky people will like it as much as they did that scene. But you'll still have to deal with unpleasant off camera action and possibly hospitalization. That whole crew found out the hard way.

Nominated for 8 Oscars including Best Picture but won:
    Best Sound Editing
    Best Sound Effects
    Best Film Editing
    Best Production Design
    Best Visual Effects.
Jack Nicholson, Jeff Bridges, Nick Nolte, Kurt Russell, Tom Selleck, Tim Matheson, Peter Coyote, Nick Mancuso, Chevy Chase, Steve Martin, and Bill Murray were considered for Indiana Jones.
Amy Irving, Sean Young, Stephanie Zimbalist and Barbara Hershey were considered for Marion.
The sound effects of Indy's handgun was that of a 30-30 Winchester rifle.
The Punch sounds were that of someone whacking a pile of leather jackets with a baseball bat.
The scene where Indy fights the swordsman was cut short as Harrison Ford suffered Diarrhea.
Ford tore a ligament in his leg while fighting the German mechanic. He would later recover and return to work.
It was 113 degrees in Tunisia Africa where they were filming. Luckily they would film the climax at Elstree Studios London England.
The sounds of the spirits coming out of the Ark are that of Dolphins and Seals played backwards.
Half the cast and crew got food poisoning except for Ford and Speilberg whom ate Spaghetti O's and PBJ Sandwiches.
The film was a box office and critical success, making $390 million dollars against a $20 million dollar budget.
It's now considered to be not only the greatest action movie of all time but one of the greatest motion pictures ever made.

Alfred Molina's first major film role is the one Peruvian dude at the beginning.
The Ark of the Covenant was made as God's throne in Earth. Only the High Priest of Israel could be in the same room as it and touch it, and only on Yom Kippur. While some believe it is buried in the ruins of ancient Egypt, a church in Ethiopia claims to have it (but won't let anyone inside), and most historians and theologians believe it was captured during Nebuchadnezzer's conquest of Jerusalem around 526 BCE, then stripped of its gold plating and destroyed. The Nazis, wanting to collect all sorts of occult artifacts in the quest for unlimited power, searched for the Ark among others.
The monkey's vocalizations were done by Frank Welker (Abu in the Aladdin films)
The swordsman was supposed to have an epic duel with Indy, but Harrison Ford, like 99% of the cast and crew, didn't take well to the food in Tunisia and couldn't film the scene. He told Spielberg "I have a gun, can't I just shoot the bastard?" Spielberg thought it would be funny and left it in.
Most of the snakes in the Well of Souls were harmless glass snakes (legless lizards). The cobra was behind a pane of glass.
The flying wing plane was based on the Horton Ho229 jet interceptor developed at the end of WWII
Harrison Ford got his leg caught underneath the landing gear of the flying wing. Not the last time he'd be injured filming a fight scene with Pat Roach.
The U-Boat was a loaner from the production of the German miniseries Das Boot.

Btw this film series also has a TV series called Young Indiana Jones Chronicles, and they're actually really good. It was the project George Lucas kept himself busy with during the early 90s before the Star Wars Special Edition and later Prequel films. So when someone asks why Lucas didn't make movies in the early 1990s well it was because he was working on this TV series. I honestly think it's one of George's best productions. Bringing Indiana Jones to children's living rooms. ruclips.net/video/Oy6OYH6FUXU/видео.html George used the character to basically let viewers experience the early 20th Century. Which is a big reason why I'm still in love with that time period.

    Thor absolutely needs a fedora.
    Seriously.
Indiana Jones was conceived as an homage to the movie serials that used to run before main features.
Back in the Depression, people only had movies to give some relief from how hard life was. But movie theaters still had to charge, and people had very little money. So they had giveaways (which is where Depression Glass came from: bowls, pitchers, vases, etc), they had cartoons, they had film singalongs (where a subtitle would run at the bottom and a white "ball" would denote when which word to sing next: "Follow the bouncing ball!"), and they had serialized stories which had a cliffhanger at the end that would spur you to return the next week to see how they got out of the predicament (the term 'cliffhanger' literally came from how the hero and/or the heroine would be left dangling from a cliff).
The serial outlived the Depression on into the 1950s & early 60s. I don't believe any more were produced after WWII, but they were devalued financially, so quite affordable for theaters to rent/buy. And the subject matter was timeless, mostly being Wild West or plantation or Arabic tales. By the 1950s, they were part of the Saturday Morning productions that local theaters marketed to children's viewing, which gave parents somewhere to put the kids while getting the weekly shopping done. I recall paying a quarter or 2 pop bottle tops to get in (a soda brand would often sponsor the regular weekly event). The main feature was often sci-fi or Wild West or a feature-length cartoon, but most common was sci-fi (especially interplanetary space 'cowboys'). The main feature was never a first-run film, and always a B-movie. We didn't have OnDemand or DVDs or VCRs back then, so all viewing was 'appointment entertainment'.
So Indiana Jones was specifically a way to return to what was best about those old movie serials. If you edited together a full set of one of those serials (as have been done, actually), then Indiana Jones would be what you would get. And Indiana Jones could as easily be edited into serial segments, each ending with a cliffhanger; you'd just have to cut in the middle of an action sequence, like the Amazon natives chasing Indy, or the fight scene by the turning Nazi plane, or the chase through the crowd of basket-carriers.

the main consideration with Indy riding under the truck on his back isn't muscle strength it's protection for your back. you'd be a bloody striped mess of ribboned flesh without something hard like leather to protect you.

The question mark is the title bothers me. Of course it's better than the mummy.
I ain't never met someone who quoted the mummy, Indiana Jones however, even if you've never seen the movie it often gets quoted.
Not actually mad by the way I just think it's funny.

I honestly haven’t seen the Mummy in ages… but I do remember liking it a lot and it was the only really fun adventure movie that came to mind when writing the title haha

    • @midnightfire9277
      @midnightfire9277 2 года назад

@@nickreacts6394 well then I have a few recommendations to add whenever you feel like watching a well rounded adventure movie.
      Romancing the stone
The jewel of the Nile(sequel to romancing the stone)
      Stargate
      The scorpion king
African queen (probably the best movie in the bunch just because of quality acting.)
Jungle cruise is new but I really enjoyed it for what it is.
Tomb raider 2018 really feels like it's trying to have that Indian Jones feel.
Any of the road to movies, the series inspired the animated movie road to El Dorado. They are old but a lot of fun. They also get better with each movie.
      One more thing...
I've run out of ideas so I guess I'll just recommend you watch Columbo. It has noting to do with anything, I just happened to start watching it recently and I'm obsessed with it. 50% of the shows I watch are detective shows and Columbo has quickly climbed up to being my favorite of all time. I don't think the structure behind how a show is made has fascinated me more. The amount of time and cars put into it is very clear, not to mention Peter Falk is godly, but the show is so well made they don't have to rely on his star power, you get invested in all the other characters and then some of the time he doesn't even show up till 15 minutes into the show.
Anyway that's my short self of a show that came out in 1968 and is still talked about to this day.
By the way none of these are reaction recommendations, just stuff I think are pretty cool, some better than others. Although Columbo is a masterpiece above all else, but I mean it's not fair, there's just no comparison.

Spielberg: "How about a 'James Bond' movie, George?" Lucas: "Instead of that, do you remember the cliffhanger movies?" With that, these directors began shaping a tale worthy of "King Solomon's Mines." With their second choice leading man cast, it was "roll 'em" time. Harrison Ford got an "academic upgrade" to "Dr. Henry Jones, Jr." and another iconic character began a franchise. We got a rip-snorting movie with enough action for THREE Action movies of the time. It is wonderful that young(er) folk are "putting on the Fedora and grabbing the whip" after all these years.;) 3:11 Nope, Kauai island in Hawaii. 8:45 Two-fisted Marion Ravenwood. 18:24 In the 1981 theatrical version, you can see the glass separating Harrison Ford from the Cobra. 27:02 The revolving mirror got a big laugh in 1981. 27:54 Jehovah doesn't like the Hakenkreuz or the Reichsadler.
