How to Stretch Your Hip Flexors

  • In this video, I demonstrate how to stretch your hip flexors.
    It's common with hip flexor stretches to over extend your lower back.
    When performing a hip flexor stretch, the focus is on hip extension while not moving the lower back. By positioning and executing this stretch as shown in the video, you will target the hip and associated muscles.
    You can perform this in many ways.
    Here are a few options:
    1. Several sets of 10 repetitions
    2. Sustained hold for 30 seconds
    3. Contract/relax
    4. Positional release (get into a mild stretch and focus on breathing)
    The point is you can do any method of stretching, but the execution is important.

    thanks this has helped me alot with knee raises on the bar before i was barely doing 8 knee raises because of my hip flexors now i can do about double

    I have extremely tight hip flexors. Started stretching today but any idea how long it will take to release tight hips?

      Different for everyone and depends on many things!
