KEITH MURRAY "Was Supposed To Be A Big STAR! What Happened? Stunted Growth Music

- Eradication, psychosomatically, Genetics, Scientifically, Hypothesis, Symbolic, Sacroiliac, what rapper young know is using words like that in his rhymes without coming off obligatory, Unsatisfactory, Ridiculously impractical or Ill advised. You see what I tried to do there Keith? But even when I try to do my best Keith Murray impression, it doesn’t stand up to what this genius of a rapper did beginning over 30 years ago using words on a beat and microphone. I say this a lot that this rapper or that rapper could’ve been the best ever if this or that didn’t happen, but Keith Murray is seriously the embodiment of that statement. I didn’t grow up on Keith Murray, in fact I’d even say I was late to the party on his music and more his story, but I can remember the day in college I was introduced to his songs right before our homecoming game and haven’t taken it out of my rotation ever since. I shot 2 for 19 that game and missed a game tying free throw, thank you Keith, but that’s not the point. The point is, in the 90s Keith Murray had it all. He was also an unquestioned top 10 lyricist of the 90s bar for bar. I’ll even give you my list right now. Biggie, Nas, Jay-z, Tupac, Raekwon, Andre 3000, Dmx, Method Man, Busta Rhymes, and… Keith Murray. Besides that, if you listen to his songs right now, they’ll still give you that feel it did, and is the perfect representation of New York Hip Hop in the 90s. His beat selection was top notch, even if I feel his hooks could’ve been better, and his persona was unpredictable, energetic and believable all in one. I speak highly of Keith Murray, and waited a long time to even wrap my mind around doing this video but his growth stunts deserves to be told. What he went through in the music industry and life is still relatable to rappers today, and may at least help 1 aspiring rapper not make the same mistakes, because like Fredro Star said, Keith Murray could’ve been a star. Unfortunately these things happened and his star fell far from that. Here’s why

One of my favorite 90s rappers. Keith Murray. Watching his battle vs Fredro Star and seeing him tell Murray how "he could've been a big star" hit hard. Because it was true. Murray still is super talented, but in the 90s, early 2000s he was special. Because of these things though, he didn't take it where he should've. Why else was that?
You gotta go back & put PUN on that 90's list!
Truly appreciate all the time and diligence you put into your vids
That Enigma album is still hard till this day
How old are you man? What year were you born? What is your generation?
Mobb deep destroyed Keith muray on in the long run
Cautionary tale.. no matter how talented you are, a lack of discipline will ruin you
Tell ODB that
@@porpiknala I mean… you know how things ended for him right?
FACTS
💯for shit sure it will bro💪
Exactly
In 1994, he dropped one of the best rap debut albums ever. I could not stop playing it that whole year. Still holds up today.
Facts! His songs can still ride today. He picked beats really well
I'm gonna check it out
@@stuntedgrowthmusic well he had Erick Sermon behind him, so it wasn't too hard for him.
@@gargenfluckgosphenspiels4849 Erick must've been on that stuff because his beats on this album was just incredible. "Danger" is such a banger from the hard beat to the lyrics. Absolute perfection.
Right “The Most Beautifullest Thing in This World” the first song I heard from him and it still goes hard 🔊🎶🔂🔥🔥🔥🔥
Keith Murray’s verse on “Fatty Girl” will forever be undefeated! IYKYK
He’s Keith Murray is my favorite album
He caught me by surprise with his performance.
She got a BA donkadonk !
💯💯💯
@@Braylon1997 definitely underrated💯
I met him in Rikers Island back in 03 or 04 his freestyles in the yard are legendary. I wish him the best and hope he is successful in whatever he do.
That's crazy .
@@jermainebowman5582 yeah he was cool tho. it was wierd being locked up in the same place as someone known like that dudes acting like groupies and shit. Seemed like the Latin kings was holding him down too idk tho jail is a crazy place.
nigga stop the🧢
@@dannydan2014 can't help what u think but it is what it is
Ny in the hizzouse 💯
Enigma album was on rotation in my university years. Keith was an absolute beast, lyrically! World Be Free 🔥
word
One of the best to ever do it
World be free 🔥
The other one was Magnifique (Original Rules). Everything DEF SQUAD touched turned to gold in the 1990s - The green eyed bandit, E Sermon was producing classic albums
Most underrated album ever. Still on reg rotation.
Keith Murray is still fire but definitely his own behavior held him back. Awesome talent.
I feel that way about Beanie Siegel. Some times people are their own worst enemy..
His verse on G-dep’s special delivery was hard af and till this day is one of my favorite verses of all times
Breaks my heart to see him on this series. One of the illest lyricists ever.
Exactly lyricist not a great songwriter though
Facts
@@syeebrown5456 yeah that's fax too. Cant even cap.
@@mtdubdachamp6917 thats why most rappers fall off they can rap and freestyle their ass off. But can't make choruses and hooks. Canibus is in the same category
Prodigy was better
Most beautifullest thing is one of the most underrated songs in rap.. Perfect to pull up to a function blasting on a friday night. Its a mood.. Keith murray one of the few rappers I actually believe aswell. He always came across as a dude with no lying in him..
Its a classic. The album was nice as well.
The most beautifulist vocabilist, punch every emcee dead in their esophagus.
Facts crazy thing is I been playing that song like crazy this wk before this video
Yup. genuine to a fault
Facts 🙌🏾
Maybe he was not supposed to be bigger than what he was?
He done his thing and no one can take away what he achieved and the banging songs he made🎤
Big Up Mr Murray👊🏽
Always thought his songs were a bit corny tbh lol. If he was good enough he would have been a big star.
This part
Got my dad a Keith Murray vinyl for his birthday. He was really into the most beautifulist thing in this world
That was a very good album.
Eye still have the original "12 single. It's always in my crates
I get lifted!!
That song was waaaaaay before it's time. Keith Murry vs Emine that's the rap battle no one wants to talk about.
That was cool!!
Met Keith a few months ago he was a real personable guy. Taking pics, holding babies, letting fans call friends and FaceTime with him. Good energy guy.
Keith Murray was very dope. He was one of my favorite MCs when he first came out. The most beautifulest thing in this world was a classic album
I’ll never understand how people can rank 3 stacks so high & forget about big boi
I am so glad I'm not the only one who has this same thought.
For fucking real. Big Boi disrespect gotta stop. Big Boi is fire
Dude I respect Big Boi but you know damn well Andre was wayyyyy out of his league creatively. And 3stacks rap better. I say that respectfully because I’m not sleep’n on Sir Lucious Leftfoot at all, he is still very skilled. Just not on Andre’s level.
3 stacks is more lyrical than Big Boi , hands down
@@RVRGOLif you google an article about both of them you’ll read Dre saying Big Boi can rap better than me. Now me personally, I believe they both should be ranked equally
His I shot ya verse is goat status
SUPER-SMOKE!!!!💣💥
Straight 🔥
The mad matador of metaphor still rap circles around today’s rappers
Keith Murray definitely created the word “Badunkadunk” lol that was a good time to be alive 😂😂
Lol
Top 30 all time for me! F that battle… Murray was high. Don’t even count… Murray was and still that dude! You have to be from my era to understand… I’m 40 so people my age and older really know!
I’m 23 and I got hooked on his music thanks to def jam vendetta
@@Braylon1997 Salute
It counts. Was worst battle performance ever
Yea he said he took a pill and a shot. Which really means SOME pills and A FEW SHOTS.. He was not right, but I don't think it was that bad for him. Wish they went acapella..
@@stuntedgrowthmusic it was the worst battle performance i ever saw, and there been alot bad ones
Keith murray along with redman are 2 of the most under appreciated emcees of all time along with AZ
Redman is a legend. One of the best emcees of all time.
I still remember when I first heard him on Eric's Hostile. It's 90 degrees in the shade, before I catch blood on my, I take my frustrations to the stage. 1 of thee hardest debuts I can remember. Him & Redman is & was a deadly combo for the green eyed bandit. SALUTE 🥂
"It's ninety-six degrees in the shade...
Before I catch blood on my blade."
Yo Stunted Growth another great video I got a request. Can you do a video on The DOC his story needs to be heard from the younger generation
Man you ain’t lying the DOC!!! Man could’ve been big as snoop!
@@KeydotBdot or even bigger hell maybe Snoop wouldn't of been discovered if the DOC' rap career would of had not been that crash and compromised his voice
Portrait of a masterpiece 🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥💯💯💯💯💯
DOC helped Snoop step up his rhymes
His verse on "swing it over here" still one of my favorites. The man is still one of the best to do it
Unfortunately Keith always got in his own way. Was talented as hell.
Man this episode hurts! I loved Keith Murray. He was definitely supposed be bigger than he was. One of my favorites was his feature on the Total remix track.
I can remember when the Most Beautifulest dropped like it was yesterday. That shit shook up the game. After that song I swore he had a chance at the crown. Dope video!!!! Great work!
Keith Murray deserves his flowers for real. Dude got crazy wordplay and metaphors. Top 20 DOA easy.
Keith Murray was underrated!! Loved his flow!!
Keith Murray was the next one up back in 94-95” & he push through the 2000” with Def Jam he had crazy flow in his prime. Get lifted & the most beautiful thing in this world was crazy
DEFINITELY the Stunted Growth I’ve been waiting for. The most beautifullest thing in this world 💪🏾💪🏾
I'm glad this came on my time line. Just two months ago I was smoking weed from dispensary. I had the same weed a few days and had no issue. For some odd spiritual Bad reason I was listening to Keith Murray " Get Lifted " and I kept hitting the joint and I was soooo high it was not fun at all. Like they did something to his Master's to get people more high. I swear to God I ain't smoke weed since that day.
Damn kieth was fighting everywhere he went
I don’t think he gets enough credit for being a good MC he was ahead of his time with the stuff he was saying in his rhymes
I got a chance to see him live in 1994. He was awesome on stage.
There's underrated, but then I truly die inside when I've never heard the artist and it turns he's insanely good.
His verse on I shot ya was 🔥🔥🔥🔥
Strong Island NY
Honestly, of you ask me... Erick Sermon was too focused on Redman to really build up Keith Murray.
probably was more that then anything
FINALLY. Anytime I call Keith Murray one of THE best lyricist, real hip hop heads ask what I know about him😂. So glad your talked about him. His talent is ridiculous. Too bad things didn't work out tho.
I'm old enough to remember Keith Murray when he debuted. His flow was unique and his verses were all solid. He was in very high rotation in my car stereo.
Give Murray his SHINE..he deserve it!!!! 💯🔥🤜🏾🤛🏾
Drug's, I love this dude EPMD was my all time favorite Duo and all of the Emcees they signed were amazing!
Keith Murray was a terror in the clubs lmao...ask anybody about him in the Tunnel back in tha day OMG 🤣🤣🤣
💯
Just listened to get lifted 🔥
I used to love Keith Murray. For at least 3-4 period he was probably my favorite or top 5 rappers during the 90s. You couldn't tell me nothing about Keith Murray back in 94 thru 97.
The Ryhme is one of the best Hip-hop songs ever!
The remix produced by J Dilla ( R.I.P. ) is the best version imo 🔥🔥
Keith Murray:had the fire and rhymes in music..also used humor in his music also…I recall reading his life story in Vibe magazine and it was sad and heartbreaking…glad Keith is doing well and keeping his head up…
One of my favorite rappers back in the day! Sad he didn’t live up to his full potential
I like and comment to support your channel. But we gotta talk about that list my dude 😂
Keith Murray was always one of my favourite MCs.
Another rapper straight shitting on any new school rapper out now love Keith murray
Salute Keith💪🏽💪🏽
He' still one of my favorite MC though Classic still in my Playlist 🔥
Get Lifted is my favorite Keith Murray joint.
Yo, I know this is Keith Murray vid, but Fredro Star was gettin busy! Need to do a Stunted Growth on him (if you haven’t already).
His one liners are fine examples of hip hop quotables
One the illest MCs to ever hold ah mic 🎤 hands down salute my brother
That man has spit some CLASSIC VERSES ✊👑
The God MC. Def Squad is the holy trinity of rap.
I opened for Keith in 95. One of Hip hops greatest lyricist. Never will forget that show we rocked hard. Lable politics was the major reason and bad marketing.
God bless you both, hope you both find much success.
Grew up with that dude. Great guy! Sad it didn’t work out for him.
It be like that sometimes - unfortunately.
He killed that booth session
Homie invented Budoonka Dunk
💯
Keith was a lyrical beast
Man Keith is in my top 5 emcees of all time my personal Fav song from Keith is Call my name
The most beautifulest thing in this world is not Keith Murray's rap career, or his temperament.
LMAO. True.
Enigma was 🔥
He came to my town NEW BRITAIN CT and some chump tried to punk him at the club thinking that was smart and learned the hard way not to fuq wit a New York Nikka and I felt the dominos fell right there and made it worst for him after but that's me he's career never got back the same since I Love The Brother one of my Top 10 Time Rappers
"Keith Murray, the lyrical Hannibal
Flow cannibal,animalistic tough guy,manhandle you".
Keith Murray and Red Man were never down with the get along gang FACTS
Enigma is an all time "most slept on" album.
He was definitley an influence to many great rappers after him.
Good drop as usual... I asked for him and Lady of Rage a few months back
I grew on Keith Murray some of these artists need a more robust support system. Most have leeches with the intend to suck as much resources out of them. In addition, the personal demons don't make it any better. My advice the money is great but ask yourself are in it for the here and now or longevity?
He’s Keith Murray was one of my favorite for Candy Bar. Yeah it’s a cheesy song by today’s standard but in high school, all the ladies loved it. I still think back to E. Serm’s shout out to Keith on Just Like Music feat. Marvin Gaye.
I finally got to see him on stage live with the Jungle Brothers 2 years ago. He was a beast in his prime, shame he didn't go further.
Special delivery 🚚
Still listening to "The Most Beautifulest Thing" 2021 and infinity. So far as I'm concerned, he is and always will be relevant/ pioneer in hip hop. At least he NEVER touched his toes for P shiddy 👀
Thanks for doing that one - Keith Murray was one of my favorite rappers in the 90s - its one thing for young cats to hear his music now, it was another to watch his career decline back in the day from the beginning - I dig Keith Murray but even people who love him will reference his first album, "Hostile" on Erick Sermon's first album or some collabo from the 1990s, nothing later outside his first album and some various collabos and guest appearances and in the early 1990s and maybe early 2000s its been nothing but diminishing returns - definition of a wasted opportunity -
He was great in the R Kelly "Home Alone" video. Pure lyrics!
Keith Murray is one of my favorite rappers,God bless King!
I been waiting for this episode!
CANIBUS is what happened to his career once I heard that freestyle on Clue I realized Keith was dope but Canibus was from outer space
Yes both is a product of the true Alien Ultra Kool Keith orignal chorus line ft Tim Dog....
@@keithbranch7718 true bro but Canibus did it better in my opinion
@@d.jackson2560 Kool Keith is 1983-1988...N that not even the most dope song by Kool Keith.. Last Master is also one of the song not even better then Ced C Deltra 2...The different is Canibus was fresh on the the seem spitting that Y he sound so dope....He never sound like that if he didn't have M.C to master...Kool Keith way ahead of his time....N when Kool Keith break down chemical n they composition let you know no M.C was on his level n science not even Rakim....1983-1988...When Canibus come out
i love this cuz i just started hearing his music a few months ago trying to understand all the old school MC's especially the ones that a lot of people dont talk about and i love this guys flow. i feel like he should be talked a lot more.
Here's a few you may never heard of, hope u like.

Keith Murray's whole thing was using a bunch of big words that don't really go together he was a thug that used big words LOL that's it
Thank you so much for this! Keith is so underrated imo
Keith is still in my top five mc’s.
That lifestyle he was living hurt him
never forgotten!!! keith murrays the man!
Keith made history no matter what. I loved It's A Beautiful Thing and The Most Beautifullest Thing In This World. He made some legendary music
Been waiting on this one. Murray is one of my favorites.
That battle was like watching shit dry on a Sunday afternoon!
Worst battle performance ever...Keith was worse than canibus
That’s cause those are real freestyle battles, not the ones people prepare for a week and bring written verses
Keith Murray has an unorthodox rap style.
Remember when he dropped in 94. He was on fire
Can you do Dej Loaf?
Her attitude is the reason she fell off😂
First heard him on the Def Squad album. I became an instant fan. Def squad is one of my favorite group albums of all time...he should've been great...
That El Niño album was 🔥
Loving this one thanks for sharing very information blessed love to all knowledge is power hopefully everyone pays attention keep up the good work would love to see him make a come back they could definitely learn from him and others in the game 🙏🏿🙏🏿🙏🏿🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Keith Murray is a beast 💨
Always had love for Keith. I feel like he was a Robin to someone like a Redman. They are both similar in styles but Red had something a Lil more.
Everybody from the 90s generation know who Keith Murray is.
love keiths flow and wordplay. the rhyme is my favourite track that soft slow new york beat
Been a fan of his since his first album.
Fredro Starr and Keith Murray will forever be one of the funniest battles ever
Didn't he punch him in the face?
