If I wanted to call a professional, I wouldn't be here on youtube.
Thank you Lowe’s
Good video. I'm gonna need a bigger tree.
Best instruction video.
Such nice lumber, should have tried to keep a long trunk.
thanks
Great video
Which saw is that?
Hi there, it's the Husqvarna Rancher Gas Chainsaw, check out the link below for more details🪚:

Like to cut down 20,000,000 trees
Mincraft is fighting back on this saying all u got to do is punch it
0:06 to fell trees?
Yes, that's what it is called. Felling a tree, means to cut it down.
Okidoke ohh ok
Do not do a 70 degree noch only 45 degree angle
Whoever cuts down a tree I would like to throw some hands
This is one of the best instructional videos about anything, ever. Thank you! I cut down a huge tree and nobody died! :)

Excellent brief, concise tutorial. I applied what I saw here and successfully felled 2 40' trees. Thanks, Lowes!
Great job, MillRat!
What chain saw did you use?
The moment you realize people cut down bird houses to make bird houses
Panda_Cat 95 🤣😂
So true, but also some of the ones we cut down aren’t as good looking as the ones we make, and it can be the other way around too!
We will always need wood for more axe handles also
Thats Called Renovation
Realistically speaking you can create more birdhouses than one tree can provide on its own.
This is the best video for this. All the other videos just too long and have a bunch of blabbering. Good job👍🏽
stp this is bad for nature jus stoooop

According to minecraft physics, you just have to punch it.

😂😂😂😂 show right
Step one. Begin by saying " hold my beer ...”
Tomas Flores lmao
@joselouis v
Or just don’t be gay and saw with your beer in hand.
Hold my beers...
Beer my hold...
Preferably your escape route is NOT DOWNHILL from the tree, as rolling can occur.
they are not WEEDS, they are native plant species
Damn, Lowes has the fire home repair vids
There must be 50 ways to fell your lumber
Just break out an axe, jack
Whip out the saw, y'all
Use a little wedge, sledge
And set that tree free
The answer is easy if you take it logically. :)
50 ways to fell your lumber. 49 are wrong.

One thing I do, to ensure I am not injured in case the trunk decides to splinter, is I wrap the trunk, above where the cut is, with a
tow strap. Tow straps are inexpensive, $20 or less, which is real cheap insurance, in case the trunk does decide to splinter.
Yep, it takes a couple more minutes but it could save weeks in a hospital and thousands of dollars in medical costs.
Above the notch? Or above the fell cut?
@@RockyJayyy Not even remotely experienced at all, but after some thinking, I'd assume the splintering would be more likely to occur above, as it it beginning to lean in the direction it'll fall. Would like to see if this is correct if @100forks responds
Imagine going to the hospital for a splinter.
Skipped the most exciting part when the tree begins to crack and you have to quickly pull the chainsaw bar straight out as not to hit the wedge and then back away.
what happens if you hit the wedge
The stock market crashes
Great video and explanations The only thing I have against it is man that was one beautiful tree why in the world would you cut that one down :-(
Looks like the tree rolled onto him at 0:07 .. rip
Daniel Thompson hahaha. I want to see the unedited cut. No pun intended.
1:50 he’s fine.
After having paid 4100 for 7 trees, I'm never doing that again. Unless it's a huge mother of all trees near my house.
Although I am not a professional, I have successfully cut down trees that are at least 2 feet in diameter with a handsaw and some work gloves. Usually, I go with a different shape of wedge and I am almost always cutting trees at an angle. that being said, this is definitely a useful video for beginners and there is a lot of great information.
A handsaw...why?? 😮
Oh snap u almost got me! 😊
@@jimbradley727 I'm not joking. It was hard and took a long time. I was told to cut down two trees. Nobody told me what saw to use so I went for the trusted handsaw. It was hard work but I made it work.
@@dropndeal yes.
cool story bro
@@salazam I've recently gotten a Sawzall so the process doesn't take nearly as long but I still whip out the good old hand saw from time to time.
So say I’m cutting into something soft and then I hit bones is there a good technique to keeping control of the saw while that happens? Also what do you do if the engine gets gummed up with red sticky liquid? Thanks for the help guys!
There's a documentary called Saw that covers all of that. It's quite long though.
Does that specific tree start to squeak and squeal loudly?
The Lorax is disappointed in you.
Learned something here. I like the staggered cut. Makes total sense now that I think of it! Thanks.
I totally agree. I've not cut down a tree yet, but I have had to cut up trees that fell themselves. That staggered cut is something I had never heard of, but it will be a game changer. That and having a couple wedges will help.
Not recommended
This is not a good place to learn about saw work
A professional sawer would never make a 70 degree notch cut on the face , it wastes to much wood by the time your done , that's how it was when I was in the woods or you were sent packing , wood is money
the video was good, as your comments, cuz i need to take down a few trees, luckily not close any house or power-line´s and for me the tree´s needed to be cut down are not gonna give any money, only BBQ wood and space for the added runway for our club. But i appreciate comments from ppl within the trade. then i can plan better and are better prepared before i start the chainsaw.
I'm a logger from Northern CA and we use "Humboldt" undercuts here so as to minimize wood waste on the butt log. But for a homeowner/amateur these instructions are fine. The only thing I would add is for the undercut I personally do the horizontal cut first then the angled cut as I find it's easier to aim the direction of fall and the cuts seem to line up more accurately than doing the angle cut first. Everyone is different but most guys I've seen do the horizontal cut first.
Dood this video is intended for home owners who will not be selling the wood...why do pros watch these videos anyway
@@nvg1526 Because it's interesting to see how other people do things and approach it.
understand the audience, and you'll realize your comment doesn't belong.
As a quadruple amputee I relate to that stump on another level
No professional lumber Jack cuts a wedge at 70 degrees all you need is 35
Right, that is a super pitched wedge
Lol. No professional lumber jack watches a Lowe’s how to video on how to drop a tree!
Outstanding! This video gave me a new perspective on sawmilling. The skill displayed in processing these huge logs is amazing. This video is extremely clear and well-made. I'm excited to see what you share next. Continue sharing these amazing videos!
Wow Lowe’s this is a very informative video. Impressed!
This was way more informative than the Home Depot version.
Yes, and This Old House has videos on felling a tree which can be condensed down to "call an expensive professional".
Now replant those trees
YES PLEASE
Really clearing around the tree with clippers when you have a chainsaw ?lol and cut it waste high this should be a video how not to cut a tree down.
+stephenjray1988 yeah but for unexperienced people, they may try to get too low to the ground and insert the blade into the ground- some but not all, this technique works very well, i just took down another pine in my back yard with this technique- and using a rope to anchor it in the direction i need it to fall for extra security of fall- Personally I believe this video does justice for inexperienced cutters-
It may work for beginners but i just think its hilarious lol
lol
+Nash Fitness and Advocare I've never cut down a tree before, so hopefully this video is going to ensure everything goes ok in a few minutes. If this video is bunk, I will let the world know, lol.
Sounds good. Just be safe, and use proper safety techniques and equipment and gear.

I gotta cut down a tree ...but I'm gonna burn it and be useful with wood ...and the only reason I'm cutting it down is so that I can get my house in here and down my driveway with enough room to turn it in and put it where it's gonna go..
This video is gonna get some overachiever killed...😳.
That's a no shitter.
I shook my head all the way through it.
Putting up a backsplash and felling trees are polar opposites.

What if the tree is leaning to one side ? The tree in the film looks straight up and down I think that would be easy enough.
Why r u doin this? (Not being a hater) trees are important
Okay so by that logic then dead trees should be left up and thinning shouldn't happen.
After you buck the tree, give me the logs so i can chop them into firewood. ;)
Great job Lowes!! Appreciate the video!
Great tutorial. Easy to understand and direct to the point. Thanks. 🙂
There is no blade on a chainsaw!
Thats wy its a CHAIN saw
The guy who commented above you used his to “chop” his first tree! LOL!

It’s also super dangerous
Oh, no wonder why people are destroying many trees
😡😡😡😡😡😡😡😡
Thanks! This is a great video! Nice careful, clear explanation. Why would someone give this a thumbs down?
ToolMetrix Because some people don’t like forest deforestation
Because some people actually know how to cut down a tree for real.
Home depot supporters
All three answers above are correct. And the fourth answer is that some lumberjack wannabe thinks he knows the best and only way.
because its bad for the environment
Just curious to know why the escape path needs to be at 45 degree to the tree felling line in opposite direction?
Because that’s the safest place. It won’t roll towards that direction, it’s not falling in that direction, and it won’t kick back in that direction if the hinge fails.
That’s funny, how to cut down a big tree, then, up next “How to prune your hedges”.
LOL!
According to mincraft physics all you have to do is punch it
I know this is a 5 year old video but 45° is what ya want not 70°
I'm sorry Dan I say that to you so you cannot cut trees down
Why am i watching this

why am i reading all the comments? LOL

@@seanothemanproductions253 - Why???
Because of climate change and save animals
@@seanothemanproductions253 - I love trees. But there's one that's right by my driveway that really is starting to make things difficult. I'm thinking about chopping it. That's why I'm here.
Ok, but after you do can you plant a new one in a different area?
I find this video very disturbing ! Again the human ego taking control over the other living beings we share our existence with . Trees have a network of connections with each other that run through the roots . They also communicate this way and when one tree is in drought they send water to other trees through there root systems with each other .They give us everything we need . Please don’t abuse your power on this planet 🙏❤️otherwise In not so many generations to come we could be facing even bigger problems . Respect the planet 🌎
Ok treehugger
Trees are a renewable resource and can be replanted so don’t freak out.
@Bradford Pear Maybe I should let my children freeze to death? Yeah that’s not gonna happen. Selfish people like you don’t even know how to start a lawnmower.
This is gonna be useful for when my dad needs to get wood for the fire pit! Thanks
No trees were harmed in the making of this video.
so much missing safety information. please do not fell trees after just watching this video, for your own safety. also, chainsaws don't have blades, so if the guy is telling you it does, how much does he really know about felling trees???
It saddens me to see that 1.6m people want to cut 1.6 (or even more) trees 😢 when we’re in the middle of a climate crisis
Lot of trees are diseased, and if you don't cut them they will fall on your house or something else.
Im getting tired of leaves and dead grass
Been getting tons of tree felling videos on my tiktok/reddit streams and everyone is a professional. I’m here so I can also comment like I know what I’m talking about 😊

I live in western WA, grew up here, logging and now running my own tree service. This video would be OK if it was paired with an hour long tree felling safety basics and at the end in big bold letters said ⚠ WARNING ⚠ IF YOU HAVE NEVER BEEN PERSONALLY SHOWN ALL OF WHAT YOU'VE JUST WATCHED DO NOT ATTEMPT TO CUT DOWN TREES. There is SOOO much this video does not cover.....felling a tree is rarely ever as easy as 1 2 3 you're done and even if it is, without the knowledge of what can go wrong when you do this or don't do that, you're taking your life for granted and could kill yourself or someone else in the blink of an eye.
This video is like saying here's a gun...the bullets go in here and come out here if you pull the trigger here.....ok you're good to go have fun
you aren't kidding!!!!
It looked to me like that sawyer left a dutchman on the visible side, I'll bet its on the other too. How is this guy even qualified to do this? Probably an actor.
I did this in Minecraft and then I died.
A lot of good tips in a short, concise video.
Even with somebody there, that tree still didn't make a sound. Odd.

I thought this only happens in cartoons
Or just call a tree service then find the remote control to the tv..

Do you know what i mean?
This video will kill sumone
THANK YOU!! And that's a fact!!!
What about the stomp and roots?
This is not the safety felling technique, leave about a third of the felling cut behind and form the break strip. Then you put a felling wedge in the cut, then the last third can be cut. This ensures the highest controllability when a tree falls.
If you live on a large acre, just burn the tree down - LOL
That's how forest fires start.
You can tell in the comments all the tree cutters that hate the fact that someone might take their business by watching a video.
That's not a 45 degree angle.
