Over 20 Muslim organisations in Melbourne came together at iconic Fed Square in a show of unequivocal support for the oppressed people of Palestine.
The Jumu'ah prayer, was hosted by the IREA (Islamic Research & Educational Academy) in collaboration with 𝒐𝒗𝒆𝒓 20 𝑴𝒖𝒔𝒍𝒊𝒎 𝒐𝒓𝒈𝒂𝒏𝒊𝒔𝒂𝒕𝒊𝒐𝒏𝒔.
Under the open sky of Melbourne, demanded action by the Austrlaian Government:
- Urge immediate ceasefire,
- Take concrete Steps to end the blockade,
- Work towards a lasting solution, I.e. end the Occupation!
The open-air Jumu'ah prayer was led by Waseem Razvi, highlighting sacredness of Al-Aqsa Mosque, plight of Palestinians, history of the conflict, disseminating Zionist narrative & the promise of victory from Allah for those oppressed
Donations collected were dedicated to Gaza’s humanitarian aid.
The Imam also urged and pledged that we must continue to:
- First and foremost, Make Dua to Allah & keep up our obligatory prayers
- Give Charity to support humanitarian aid for Gaza
- raise our voices against the oppression through social media platforms
- boycott Israeli products, join BDS movement
- Attend rallies (while making sure one follows Islamic principles of segregation and observe Islamic etiquettes in clothing and other aspects)
