It sounds so sinister because in many parts of this song, the most notorius one in this riff, they use some notes that are literally called "the devil in music" (it was kind of prohibited sound in medieval times by the church), it's hard to explain if you don't know about music theory but let's say that if you play them it sounds like that, *evil*
4:56 dammit I cannot find an isolated guitar track without the solo. The solo kicks ass but that riff in the background is so fucking killer. That riff is cannot be left out!!!

You can totally hear the lower mids in Dave’s tone during the rhythm parts. Doesn’t sound like high gain it’s more like boosted mids from a preamp or a eq unit
