    I just turned 58 and feel like I'm leaving money on the table with Social Security. I’m not sure when the best time to start claiming is, and I want to maximize my benefits. Retirement feels a lot harder than it used to be, especially with inflation eating away at savings.

    • @Churchillhump2268
      @Churchillhump2268 10 дней назад

      Same here! I’ve been reading about strategies, but it’s overwhelming. Delaying benefits could help increase my monthly income, but I also don’t want to dip too heavily into my savings before then. Balancing that decision with long-term goals is tricky.

    • @camela8445Mar
      @camela8445Mar 10 дней назад

      You’re absolutely right. My biggest regret is not consulting an expert sooner. After struggling to figure it out on my own, I ended up losing out on spousal benefits that could have increased our household income. I’d recommend speaking to a professional who can help you navigate this before making any decisions.

    • @Sanchyfab
      @Sanchyfab 10 дней назад

      I agree. My CFA, Joseph Nick Cahill, was a game-changer for me. He helped me optimize my Social Security strategy and adjust my investments to complement my benefits. He’s experienced in helping people grow their portfolios and maximize retirement income. He even offers free consultations if you’re unsure where to start.

      That sounds like exactly what I need. I’ve been trying to manage everything myself, but I know I’m missing opportunities.

    I retired at 60 after a stressful 35 years in the medical system. So far, the first two years have been incredibly frustrating and humbling. I underestimated how difficult it would be to make new friends, and I didn't predict that the country would have such a huge inflation. Anyone who is preparing for retirement and doesn't have a partner or close friends to socialize with should be prepared to put huge effort into keeping yourself busy doing solo activities.

    Just retired in June and have to admit I have sat in house all these months just doing little errands and declutterring to downsize before my next move next year. I have to admit it is lonely because friends and family still work. Found your video and decided to comment. Good luck on your new journey.😊

      I found it took a while to get used to being retired. Went from a super engaged lifestyle to one more laid back. But as the days passed I enjoyed this lifestyle so much more. We also spent a few months decluttering, sold our house and moved to the State of Washington where we only knew our son, his wife and grand daughter. Like starting all over again. 8 years later we have new friends, a new life. thanks for watching and for your comment.

We have our health, we do low impact exercise like biking, hiking 3 miles or less, we also have a home gym, with a stationary bike, rower and elliptical. We both have pensions and social security. Hello my new friend,. I'm 6 months into my retirement, and I promise everyday seems must like a Saturday. So far so GREAT. I'm enjoying watching RUclips, and over the past month have had some fun posting some videos . Mine are no where the caliber yours are, but its fun and I'm learning. I too enjoy photography and have thousands of photos both on line and in shoe boxes and albums. I think RUclips may be on of the best mediums to leave a lasting legacy for friends and family.
    I retired at the age of 66, so I appreciate your prospective of aging gracefully. I cannot believe how fast time is flying by. Keep up the good work and I'm looking forward to going back and seeing more of your work. Have a great weekend. Curtis

      OJ definitely should make that video. Karen keeps me away from the cooking, probably a good thing as my skills with pots and pans and food is extremely limited. Deb, your yard is coming right along also, won't be long and you will have bulbs planted and by spring, you will have flowers blooming. Karen usually tells me what she wants built and I can do that, she takes it from there. Always nice hearing from you, thanks for watching and you two have a fantastic weekend

    Very inspiring. Seems you are finding your equilibrium quite nicely. Began my journey at the beginning of the year. Slow going thus far. I miss working a bit primarily as it was interesting work. But not having the stress, grind, commute and being able to eat at home at a sane hour is rewarding. All those years of 60-100 hour workweeks are a thing of the past. That part is not missed.

    • @EmbraceTheJourney
      @EmbraceTheJourney  4 месяца назад

      Bruce, I have to admit, the first couple months after I retired I actually felt guilty for not going to work. It began to grow on me as I found the stresses I had been under for 30 years where now gone. I found I had the time to now do things I liked doing, what a difference that made. My major problem now is that time is going by much to quickly. We really enjoy this chapter in our lives wish we could have done it earlier. Thanks for watching and for your comment.

    Thanks for the video and encouragement. I retired after 32 years in law enforcement. I receive a pension as well with health insurance for life. I was 57 when I retired and was blessed to be able to return to the same position and salary. So my plan is to work 4 years and fully investing and saving the extra salary. Thankfully the house and cars are paid off and no debts. I am looking forward to retirement, a little golf, a little travel, and a lot of time with the grandkids! Three years and six months to go! But it’s nice to know I can leave whenever I want or need to.

My last 8 years in Law Enforcement I was a Sheriff. I never really thought about the job being stressful, but after I retired it did feel like so nice not to be getting calls at all hours of the night and having to make decisions on a daily basis. I guess I didn't know what stress I was under until I had no stress at all. There is life after law enforcement and that life is good. Thanks so much for watching and for your comment. Riverdancing? 😹😹😹…….yes, a few months after I retired I tore all the tendons , little muscles and had a bone fracture in my knee and I could barely walk..my big accident..I was getting up off the couch and twisted wrong way! But I’m laughing about the riverdancing because when I was about 47 I broke 5 bones in my wrist when I was roller skating….my family forbid me from roller skating….but determined me I tried again this time I was about 58…and fell roller skating and this time broke and dislocated a shoulder and upper arm…both times required surgeries…

      Yikes!!! Well, my best advise of all time for you, Sally, don't even attempt River Dancing. (A lot like you, the Doctor says "no more river dancing for you". But I'm feeling pretty good now, maybe one more twirl around the living room with the grandkids. Hey, thanks for watching and for your comment. Hope you are healing up and walking again.

    He made sure it he silently pushed Fairlife milk. Now I gotta question the rest of the video…

      Really wasn't pushing anything. Actually didn't even know it was called Fairlife milk until I read your comment.

      We did have to pay taxes on the money we pulled out and used to pay off our house and car. The remaining money would put into CD's.

    You and your wife's ailments are due to inactivity. Both of you should do more than walk occasionally. Start a real exercise routine and you will certainly look and feel years younger. Also should cut back on the danish, whole milk, and half and half.

      for some, retirement just doesn't fit in the life they want to pursue. I suppose it would be very depressing for them. It works out well for my wife and I, we fully enjoy this valuable time that we have to be with each other and to share what life we have left to us. Best of luck to what you pursue

      Enjoyed your video. I'm still working part time, and my better half and 10 years my senior has already retired. His job is taking care of our Wheaten Terrior. Your willow is absolutely adorable. Our furry friends do keep us moving and on our toes for sure. I'm a bit skeptical about fully retiring, with all the inflation, and craziness in our world today. I only work 3 days/week, and make my own schedule, so we still have 4 days/week to enjoy eachother for now, until I make that big decision. I would like to find a good financial advisor, however, it's hard to trust anyone these days, but God. He is who I lean on each and every day. God Bless you, your wife, and little Willow 😊 love her name BTW ~

      @@suegalletly8262 These are difficult and questionable economic times, never know what's going to happen from day to day. We all do what we think is best for ourselves, but life can be and should be, good. We have always had a dog around us we call it being, pack. Willow has been a pure joy, each day she gets cuter and more fun to be around. Thank you, Sue, for subscribing and your beautiful comments. Our channel is really all over the place, sometimes it's crafting, photography, baking, traveling, wood working, music, poetry, and of course, retirement. Have a fantastic Labor Day Weekend and God Bless to you and your husband too.
