Love everything old buildings, fireplaces and stoves. The salon looked very cosy with the fire going. We renovated an old School house near Villedieu Les Poeles in 2004 and converted the classroom into a living room and entrance hallway. Built a fireplace with a Supra make woodburner and fitted oil heating. In 2008 oil was a euro a litre and getting through 600 litres in 8-12 weeks heating a 3 bed detached house. Grandparents felt the cold. Living room large at 35sqm with 4.2 metre high ceiling. All walls dry lined and plasterboard backed dense rockwool. Lovely tee shirt warmth. Installed a Villager AHI boiler stove to power the 13 radiators and 20 cubic metres of wood used to last 7 months. At the time payed 15-30 euros for a cubic metre delivered cut to size and seasoned. Sold up in France in 2010 and renovated a bungalow in County Kerry. Now back in the UK since 2012. I have a woodwarm stove on my narrowboat I live on and it's a fantastic stove. The rope push fits into a groove cast in the door and no glue required. Double glazed glass and airwash good. Last year replaced the rope and fireboards, not bad for 10 years use. James.
I like the stove, picture, and post cards! Great finds. The door bell button from ugly to lovely! The picture might be more impressive with a longer approach view as it is worthy of a real WOW look! You both are so amazing and work so well together!!! The perfect couple!!!
I agree with you Carole on the placement of the tapestry. It seems to me that something vertical to match the height would be nice stretching the height. But when you said it made the wall seem too close or closed in the feeling of the staircase, perhaps you’d consider some kind of mural to extend the visual appearance of the space outwards. Like a Tromp-l’oeil wallpaper?? Boy it would be a job and a half to wallpaper the staircase but I’ve seen some awesome murals??
Agree. It probably doesn't look right to you because the shape of the art should match the shape of the space. In your case, it should be portrait shaped, not landscape/horizontal.
OMG Carole, I am so happy they gave you a deal on the stove it is just so beautiful, I agree I am on the fence about the tapestry on the stairway wall. It's hard to believe that after the hot summer you had that it's getting cold so fast. Nother beats a nice warm and cozy fire. Love from N.Y.
I was so pleased for you when you said the store owner gave you a discount and then delivered the larger items for free. Six hours out of his way at that! The tapestry and frame are lovely. I think it’s great where it is you just need some color behind it. Right now it pretty much blends in to the background. Though there’s not much color in the tapestry I’d pick a green or if there’s a pink/red color in it, that would help color come out in it. I think if that wall became some type of gallery wall all favoring similar color ways it would bring more color, thus pulling color out of the tapestry. As a needle-worker I know that tapestries can be cleaned and perhaps more color could come out. But before you do that (if you are going to) watch some BBC historical restorations shows first. The start of cleaning is to cover the hose end of your vacuum with panty hose and laying a piece of window screen flat against the surface slowly vacuuming over the screen. The panty hose and the screen will help protect the integrity of the piece. The tapestry has to be on a flat firm surface . So if it’s connected to a board and then into the frame that’s good. If it’s in without a hard backing fit a piece of plywood behind it or take it completely out of the frame. It would take me too long to explain it all here. I know it’s not the top of your list right now. And I can’t blame you for thinking it’s too much work with just those steps. You may be very surprised at how much color comes out just with the vacuum process. If I lived in France I’d come and do it for you but alas I’m hundreds of miles away. Somewhere in the 4,370 miles, as the crow flies. I don’t know what that is in kilometers, well I just checked and google said about 7,000-is that right ?? Best Wishes to you both! Katherine Woodstock GA 🇺🇸
Love the old cooker you purchased. Besides looking great, it would be fun just to open and shut all those doors! The fireplace insert will be practical and a kind "loan" from Teri, but it was great to see the fire going with the freshly cleaned chimney. :)
😁Oooohh the suspense.. Like Christmas morning 🎅, totally get your impatience / excitement Marc,... 1.good size for room 2.the painting, floor, oak + rug work well together 3.did you say beige sofa.. I couldn't follow why beige when you had been creating grey wall paint etc was expecting you to go with grey sofa to be honest but seeing the rug I get you, it appears on screen to work well with light wall however only slight glimpse of blue wall perhaps a 360 of the room good idea, suspect that the sofa going up against the light wall? Will reserve full judgement until sofa installed, if you like + keeping then I would suggest a gold light fitting, I did suggest a black light fitting previously and a darker blue shaggy rug would give a more modern look if that's what you were after , can I suggest that you put a little bit of blue paint on piece of paper and take with you when you go shopping to help with choice of accessories ie a throw, cushion, picture or maybe a plant pot / ornament of some description to bring in the blue to your scheme, a plant would look nice either on the table or tallish 1 stood on the floor in the corner next to table, rug has quite a lot of light colour especially around the border be mindful wellies that you are in and out of the door often after gardening or seeing Rockstar wouldn't want to have to be cleaning often
I think having those items delivered for free when the shop is 6 hours away is a BARGAIN! I do like the tapestry but with the way the height of the stairs stretches up perhaps you want to go vertical with a colorful piece and instead have the tapestry put in a longer area like a hall or the long side of another room.
I love watching your transformation, it must be like Christmas every day for the two of you! I believe once you pant or paper the wall with the amazing tapestry it will look grand. A silver color there would be fantastic.
Carole, when you were in the dining room gluing the rope onto the wood stove, there is a brief shot through to the grand salon where the fire is burning so cheerily and warm . The glance through, was delightful. Made me smile and happy. Thanks for the video. I love the new wood cooker for the kitchen. Got to grab these treasures as you see them. Take care to you both.
Love your purchase .🤗 The wood burner great that's a good start for keeping warm.🤗👍I do not know where the last two months have gone just flown by.See you soon on the next ☝💐🍷🍾🍷 Love Sue❤❤❤🇬🇧❤❤❤
Oh my goodness! That kitchen stove is absolutely amazing!! It would be hard to pass up, that's for sure! So glad you didn't have to! It's just a shame you can't use it. Oh well, it looks amazing! When you were in the dining room it looked really cozy seeing the fire going in the salon.
Adrian "I think we need a longer pole". Quick as a flash, Carole responds "I've been telling him that for years" Made me laugh out loud. Good one. Nice finds at the Brocante, too. Who on earth paints a beauftiful marble switch? Thanks for sharing.
I love the tapestry but maybe not on a tall, vertical wall, but I’m sure you will find the perfect wall for it. The fire in the salon looks so beautiful. I’m amazed by the prices of the antiques in France. Here in the states everything would have been triple the amount or more, and free delivery, that’s unheard of. I always see so much I want to buy, but shipping is a fortune. I love the huge fireplace in the kitchen and your purchase looks wonderful in it. That will be a pretty room when you get to it. xx
Boy you found some wonderful thing's on your day out Carole and Adrian ,it was also lovely of Terry and Ash lending the log burner too such a lovely family, I watch them too. X💕🌼🌼🤗
I think you guys got a deal for the stove! You couldn’t find anything at that price in the UK or here in the states. It’s gorgeous! Perfect for the future kitchen.
Great stove! It's going to look fab when you do up the kitchen. Terry and his family are so kind - nice to share warmth with friends. I am sure the final placement of the tapestry will be in a place of pride once decided, because you have great taste.
Great buys and wonderful guy to deliver free. I agree, the tapestry there do make the wall fall in at you a bit. I think the frame is OK but needs some paint color. Carole, I know you can pretty it up. So glad you have your fireplaces going. So n8ce of Terry and Tracy to lend you the wood burner. I just saw their lovely video on the window frames. Time for Jack O Lanterns, then xmas! Oh la la. I know you'll out do yourselves. I think a chateau xmas deco contest is in order with all you guys! No pressure! LOL!
Love your Vlogs from Boston! You may be right about the tapestry. It would look better going down a long Hallway! You need an enormous portrait, Tapestry, or Rug on that wall! It is imposing and the First thing you see when you enter your Glorious Chateau! Make that wall Amazing as it is gorgeous with that sweeping staircase. Bold Paper and and enormous Mirror!? Give a peek of something? when we walk in, to wonder what we are looking at. This will make the need to investigate further as we enter your Palace! Thank you for taking us on your Journey!
Hello, love the kitchen oven/stove! The Chateau it's looking grate. Excellent Job. Wonderful Week for You. Thank you for showing the progress of The Chateau. 🙋🏼♀️😃
Beautiful stove and tapestry, love the post cards. You cannot beat free delivery. Enjoyed seeing the fire in the salon, nice and cozy. Lovely to have friends kind enough to loan you a log burner to stay warm this winter. Everything is looking good. Love the doorbell… ding dong.😂
Oooo - envious of your box of chestnuts! They are sooo expensive here in Australia. and the supermarkets in my rural town do not sell many. Love your newest Brocante purchases Carole and Adrian. Is it possible to clean the tapestry to make the figures stand out? Yes, Terry and his family are wonderful people, so genuine and helpful to others. Its lovely to know that the "Chateau Families of France" are great friends and help each other where possible. Your channel is one of my favourites. Love your decorating in the Chateau Carole and also Adrian's carpentry and many other skills. Kudos to Beth for a great job editing your videos.♥🙂
I'm thrilled that you were able to get the cuisine. I lost it when I saw the fireplace working. I'm arguably the world's foremost fireplace lover, which are followed by augurs and antique cooking facilities..
A fun episode, with some history. Such a neat kitchen oven you acquired. The tapestry needs a nice, big wall so that one can stroll up to it and take in its story. I enjoy watching your work. Take care.
Finding the stove was meant to be,it look’s perfect in the workshop fireplace🔥 Love the tapestry Carole I think painting the frame gold will look lovely! 🥰💕
HI Carole and Adrian. You did really well at the Brocante, the tapestry does look a bit imposing but there again I suppose it should, after all, when you consider the period of history it represents and the building it's hung in eh! Anyway, you had a good day out and I enjoyed watching all about it so we're all happy. Take good care both of you.
Hi Carole and Adrian, Leave the tapestry in place on the stair wall. It will take a bit of time, maybe even a few weeks to get used to it. I had a very imposing Eastlake bookcase that I moved to an empty wall in the library in my Victorian many years ago. It took months before I got used to where I moved it to and finally it felt like it wasn't falling over every time I walked past it. The kitchen stove was a real find and it will add a great bit of ambiance to the kitchen when restored. The best always, Mark
Having that stove in the kitchen looks amazing. Definitely a good bargain. I think the tapestry needs to go on another wall. That wall needs something or something’s vertical vs horizontal. Nice job all around . Terry is a good neighbor to have. Thanks for sharing 😍😘
I am usually not a fan of tapestries but the subtle colors and the scenery is absolutely beautiful. Also love the oven you got. It looked so big in the shop but so little in the large fireplace. It is very darling. Great picks.
I think a regular vertical tapestry of the right size, even a reproduction, with nice colors, would look more appropriate to the space. I like your videos, they are very friendly and casual...love the building too.
Another option for the doorbell. If you foresee adding some home automation technology as you proceed, such as using Google Home or Apple Home, one of he most common pieces of kit is a simple $15-$20 wireless and battery operated button that can program your home automation system to do whatever you'd like when pressed. You could play a sound and or light a light for example. If you could find one small enough to hide behind the existing button and have the original antique look. As an example, Aqara makes a hub that doubles as an alarm and a light and they make a dumb button that can initiate any action you choose. The key though in this case will be size of the button. But anyway, I urge you to be thinking about home automation systems as you proceed with the reno. It's not something you have to buy all at once; you add components organically as you need them. I'd post a link, but ur in France and me in the US so that won't help.
On the wall where the stairs would be nice to hang a trellis tapestry, or a simple vertical tapestry carpet with a large fringe at the bottom. It would look great. And this wide tapestry is better to hang in some small room - a cozy ladies' bathroom, for example.
💕That stove was waiting for you & what a great find it was perfect for your kitchen💕The tapestry looks great as well I’m sure you’ll end up tarting up the frame at some stage💕
Love your brocante finds! I think that the tapestry looks imposing because the frame is so dark. I think that if you gold leaf the entire frame, it will brighten the lovely tapestry up. I would also find another place for it. Somewhere where you can get up closer to it, and take in the beauty of it. Maybe in a bedroom? The stove you bought is SO beautiful! When you get that working, it will throw off an amazing heat! LOVE the doorbell! Good job Adrian! It looks grand with the marble and brass!
OMG! I love the cast iron stove, Carole! What a treasure you have there and will warm any kitchen too! Is there a way to wash the tapestry then dry it and put it behind glass! Agree it needs another space so people can ‘read the story’ up close and personal! Such a cozy ambiance with you working & actual fire in that fireplace behind you! Fabulous warm atmosphere! Great finds!
Love the kitchen stove if you get it working you can cook stews on the top and warm the room at the same time. You will find the room will be much warmer with the stove off Terry as the metal body gives of heat and with the open fire a lot of the heat goes up the chimney, you will be a lot warmer this winter 👏👏👏👏
I love your new finds…very curious about the wallpaper on mirror….did I. It’s something …the paper on the right is very pretty and goes in the room..my very opinion..ha…the oven will be great to cook in..moving right along…🥂
Carol are you going to bring up that frame it would be really pretty with more gold on it? Love the little wood burner or cooker. That is beautiful up there on the wall. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
My eldest brother bought a stove very similar to yours and he loves it. He cooks on it & lots of warmth comes from it & where we live the winters are extreme.✌🏼🌻. You both are awesome & love both your humour
Carole’s excitement over her finds is very child-like and contagious. Beautiful pieces!

I agree also. It’s a beautiful piece of tapestry.
Agree. Needs a vertical piece to keep the height in the wall.
Totally agree, I would put a gilded large mirror 🪞 that I think would also bring in some light 🥰
I love watching your transformation, it must be like Christmas every day for the two of you! I believe once you pant or paper the wall with the amazing tapestry it will look grand. A silver color there would be fantastic.
Great work, ye are such a terrific team. Tackling all kinds of jobs.
Love seeing it all progress and come together ❤️
Thank you, lots going on atm
Oh Carole love the cuisine! X❤️ bless terry and his mum lending you the log burner. How kind xx ♥️
The only complaint I have is that your videos come to a close too quickly. I enjoy seeing your progress!!

The stove and insulating the old chimney will make the room so much more comfy! Perfect to commence the next big project. 😉
The tapestry just looks splendid!
I wish I owed a chateau (or any home, really) to fit that absolutely gorgeous stove! Great buy 🥰
The cooker is fabulous ❤️💛💚⭐️🥇🇺🇸
I like the way you guys decorate your chateau, it’s not too frilly foo foo and it’s not too rustic. It’s a really nice balance. 🌸
Boy you found some wonderful thing's on your day out Carole and Adrian ,it was also lovely of Terry and Ash lending the log burner too such a lovely family, I watch them too. X💕🌼🌼🤗
Wonderful, a painting in the Chateau. Wonderful!

Ok, now I'm jealous! That cooker! It's a dream of mine. Big thanks to Adrian for covering the board in black. It makes a big difference.
Love the stove and where you've put it! The fire looks so cozy as we look through the double doors! Good job!
I really love the tapestry in the stairwell! Whatever you decide will be right!
Great stove! It's going to look fab when you do up the kitchen. Terry and his family are so kind - nice to share warmth with friends. I am sure the final placement of the tapestry will be in a place of pride once decided, because you have great taste.
Thank you Lisa Cx

I'm not falling into that trap Peter, I saw their decorations last year, there's 5 of them , that's my excuse!!!!!
Love the tapestry, i have a small one that i grew up with on my wall. Great Video! Thanks for sharing..
Love your Vlogs from Boston! You may be right about the tapestry. It would look better going down a long Hallway! You need an enormous portrait, Tapestry, or Rug on that wall! Give a peek of something? when we walk in, to wonder what we are looking at. This will make the need to investigate further as we enter your Palace!
Thank you for taking us on your Journey!
Love the tapestry and stove. With your fireplace now working you will have a warm spot this winter. Well done.

Thank you Alison, I've been researching the artist today. It is only there for safe keeping we meed to find a more suitable place for it
I love the thought of a tapestry there but much taller.
Finding the stove was meant to be,it look’s perfect in the workshop fireplace🔥
Love the tapestry Carole I think painting the frame gold will look lovely!
🥰💕
Oooh, you made a great deal! Always bundle. 😉 That little “cuisine” is adorable.

What a doorbell transformation! It was seriously ugly before and now it’s a small jewel!
FEE FI FO FUM! I can smell a Lovely stove or 2 with a Lovely Fire! May your Chateau be full of warming fire enjoyment! 👏🙌💒🦁🙋🏼♀️
So truly happy for you 🥰
I love ur tapestry old picture!! 😍 I love this picture in stairwell.!! I think being flush with wall would look less imposing.
Thank you for posting. I really enjoy watching your process and progress and look forward to these videos. Keep on laughing.
Having that stove in the kitchen looks amazing. Definitely a good bargain. I think the tapestry needs to go on another wall. That wall needs something or something’s vertical vs horizontal. Nice job all around . Terry is a good neighbor to have. Thanks for sharing 😍😘

I think the tapestry is lovely. It is always sad to see the loss of vibrant colours but amazing it is still in existence. I think it could be higher.
I think a regular vertical tapestry of the right size, even a reproduction, with nice colors, would look more appropriate to the space. I like your videos, they are very friendly and casual...love the building too.
I love the tapestry.
The iron stove was a good find. It will be a good conversation piece.

But anyway, I urge you to be thinking about home automation systems as you proceed with the reno. It's not something you have to buy all at once; you add components organically as you need them. I'd post a link, but ur in France and me in the US so that won't help.
Don’t worry we’re slowly getting modern tech in here through the WiFi. A lot of the bulbs are WiFi control and also CCTV. Heating next
PG Tips loving the stove making me laugh again !!! 🤣🤣🤣. I’m sure your find a place for tapestry in the future .
Love the stove! Keep you warm in winter.
Hieno juttu, että pelastitte hienon linnan. Täällä kateellisena katselen entisöinnin edistystä. Onnea teille matkaan. Minulle täyttymätön unelma, teidän ihana linna. Terveiset Suomesta
I love the tapestry. I think it looks great where you put it.
I thought so too Cx
Love your brocante finds! I think that the tapestry looks imposing because the frame is so dark. I think that if you gold leaf the entire frame, it will brighten the lovely tapestry up. I would also find another place for it. Somewhere where you can get up closer to it, and take in the beauty of it. Maybe in a bedroom? The stove you bought is SO beautiful! When you get that working, it will throw off an amazing heat! LOVE the doorbell! Good job Adrian! It looks grand with the marble and brass!
Thanks Irene!
Great find on the stove Carole looks great.
Hello dear chateau friends!
Hello thank you for watching
I like the tapestry but not for that location....ok it's temporary..I see a large majestic mirror there....
HI from the USA Love your beautiful Château 😮😊😊
Door bell switch is lovely 😊
Love the tapestry 🇦🇺
Great buys from the brocante. The stove is gorgeous
What a beautiful functional stove. It was a great find. 😊
I understand the concerns about the tapestry in that location, buuuut I kinda like it there!
I like the tapestry too Carol
Love the kitchen stove if you get it working you can cook stews on the top and warm the room at the same time. You will find the room will be much warmer with the stove off Terry as the metal body gives of heat and with the open fire a lot of the heat goes up the chimney, you will be a lot warmer this winter 👏👏👏👏
Beautiful Tapestry!
I agree that the canvas closes the stairs, and I love the stove .... ssh don't talk to loud he will hear 😂😂
😂
I love your new finds…very curious about the wallpaper on mirror….did I. It’s something …the paper on the right is very pretty and goes in the room..my very opinion..ha…the oven will be great to cook in..moving right along…🥂
Carol are you going to bring up that frame it would be really pretty with more gold on it? Love the little wood burner or cooker. That is beautiful up there on the wall. Much love from Oklahoma USA Jackie 🇺🇸💖
Put it up higher and pull the string hanger in so it doesn’t lean forward and it will look perfect.
I would be afraid of it fading there. Cleaning the tapestry would be nice, the colo4s would become more vibrant.
Wooow!!! So beautiful 😇
I love the stove and the tapestry, what finds!!! It's coming along, what the heck are you two going to do when this is done!?!
Retire... haha
How kind of him to deliver!
My eldest brother bought a stove very similar to yours and he loves it. He cooks on it & lots of warmth comes from it & where we live the winters are extreme.✌🏼🌻. You both are awesome & love both your humour
Adrian says it won't work, but where there's a will....
450 for the stove.. a hade pay 1000 and more.. love it. Nice bay 🥰
I love that stove.. great find.❤❤❤❤
Me too!!
I Love the stove you did good !!
Great progress, so many problems to solve
I really like the tapestry.
It would possible to show how the smoke comes out of the chimney - from the outside. This also expands the viewer's view.😉
