She would have been brilliant to have played Olivia Winfield Foxworth in Garden Of Shadows the Prequel to Flowers In The Attic. You see what Olivia went through from 1918-1957 and although you don't condone what she did to The Children, you see how cray cray she went to the point of no return.
does it annoy anyone else that they gave Virginia the line "I shan't make you want me anymore by giving myself away like this" when it was actually vita that said it?? I feel like it's quite an important difference in their characters and who they were as ppl. lovely edit though!!!
really!? I had been trying to make sense of the line for a while -- this makes much more sense now. something felt off. i wonder why they gave Virginia that line? its a very drastic change
I don't understand why everyone hates on this movie. This was brilliantly acted and well cast, it felt like everyone cared for this project even if the money spent was all lost in the end. A beautiful movie, hopefully appreciated more down the line.
I adore this movie for the interactions, the litrature...just amazingly captivating. The written word is magique, to write your feelings, thoughts in words is like playing a violin. Everything flows in a wave. That is the magique of the written word. 🙂🙏🧡
Ditto! The UK has done some amazing timepiece movies. This, Tipping The Velvet, Fingersmith, Aimee & Jaguar and even Gentleman Jack. Can you imagine how it must have been to love someone so much that they become the inspiration of one of your best known novels.
Without realizing it Vita Sackville-West and Virginia Woolf started a tradition that was synonomous with alot of Female Writers. Mary McCarthy, Rona Jaffe, & Patricia Highsmith (RIP), all sat at a Desk or Table, with a Typewriter, and a Cigarette in their Mouths. Patricia wrote her Novels using a Portable Typewriter where she had a Rolltop Desk that she was able to use for various compartments for her Letters, etc.
These movie is made for the genius audience and suddenly i dont thats why i dont fully understand these at all..a poetry kind of story gets me sleepy..all i can see the acting is good and the love story is so complicated..
Why did they cast a blonde, blue eyed actress to portray a 5:17 woman who was famously brunette and brown eyed? I kept on confusing Vita & Virginia because I couldn’t make sense of the coloring!
I must be the only one on this thread that thinks this movie was so underwhelming. The only time I felt overwhelmed was at the point when I was dreadfully waiting for the end credits. The trailer was so much better. There was no suspense. No real desire for genuine intimacy. It wad simply Vita predatory carnal desires. Even when they did go to bed it felt so mechanical (probably the actors fault, all else i blame on poor direction and writing). Perhaps, I'll change my mind once I manage finishing the last 30minutes - but i highly doubt it.
Yes you are. This movie wasn’t meant to be overwhelming. It was meant to be dramatic and poised. It’s more like reading a book while watching it on screen at the same time. It’s theatrical and poetic. Only meant to drag you along and long for more in a beautiful vague and intricate way
I think both leads are remarkable actresses, no question; but it's ridiculous having a 20 something actress playing a 40 something author. Look at the photo's of the real Vita and Virginia and decide if you think the company responsible wasn't doing everything possible to include an eye candy element into this film. I wouldn't watch it on that principle. The other thing is Vita categorically stated in her letters to Harold that the relationship was platonic; but the director had to inject an element of lesbianism into the film.
Elizabeth Debicki is SO underrated as an actress. She completely captivated me in this movie. The way she looks at Vita. Gah, I’d melt ❤️

You took the words out of my mouth. She’s so captivating

I agree it doesn’t seem like something Virginia would have said

I loved this movie so much. The emotions and everything just killed me and I had to order the book, Orlando, as soon as I finished the movie.
Same here
It is very funny to see Virginia much taller then vita
elizabeth debicki is 6,3 🤩🤩😍😍
I thought the same, it's not historically accurate
But at the same time I think that they are a very good choice, I adored the movie

Such an intellectually moving, soul-stirring movie. Great acting by both the actresses 🧡
How are you today and how is the weather condition over there in your place ?
this single video was better than the movie itself
omg thanks! 🥺
For real. In my opinion it's unfortunate the movie did not live up to this video.
