    After using this board for a bit longer I am quite impressed with the softer typing feel of the spring mount. This board is alot of fun. What are your thoughts? Is it just novelty or do the bounciness of the spring mount actual have a place in the hobby? Let me know your thoughts in the comments!
    Also, the audio is a little bonkers in some places. I think I may change out some equipment in the near future to address this. Want to help me out? I'm admittedly quite curious -- aside from waiting for a TKL board with spring mounting, the price seems high just to try out the concept.
      With a 5mm neoprene desk mat, some scraps of open cell foam backer rod covering the rear feet of my keyboard, & 2 small silicone bumpers under the front I already get a significant amount of bouce / deflection with a regular board... for less than $20.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      $200 for an all aluminum board from a known quality manufacturer, free or low cost shipping, and a novel new mounting system isn't a high price and I mention this in the video. Its in-line with boards like the QK65 and Zoom65. Its just... different.

    • @timtuckercom
      @timtuckercom Год назад

      @@punkshoo I agree that it's a reasonable price for what you get - for someone in the market for a keyboard at that price point it makes sense.
      For anyone who already has a keyboard of similar quality, though, I'm just not seeing the price as worth it solely to try out the mounting style.
      This isn't rocket science: adding a few extra springs and and tweaks to the mounting posts should add very little to the wholesale costs of a $30-50 board.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      Manufacturing wholesale costs are irrelevant. In the grand scope of 65% metal rectangles there is plenty of value here. If you're content with a $50-100 keeb and playing "princess and the pea" then more power to you but at the end of the day market value is market value. With those sentiments in mind this keyboard isn't aggressively competitive but competitive nonetheless. At $180 these would fly off the shelves.

    • @timtuckercom
      @timtuckercom Год назад

      @@punkshoo I'd just like a cheaper way of trying out the mounting style before commiting to spending more on another keyboard.
      Maybe it's just bit of a case of sour grapes, though, since all the weird stuff at the moment for mounting seems to be focused on 60%/65% and I really need TKL.
      Not sure what's holding back more weird options for TKL -- whether it's just trendiness of narrower options or the increased engineering challenge of balancing flex vs. support for a wider PCB.
      In the meantime I'll probably just keep on experimenting with more DIY modding options.

    Same overall thoughts, with the QK and Zoom being a rolling release, this board has some competition, glad you point that out as well! Ended up with FR4 - 170g and NK Creams on mine and ended up liking it as well :D

      Thanks for sharing your experiences. Definitely enjoyed building and using the board. Will be great if they do come down on price at least a little bit. If this came in at $20 less it would be a no-brainer.

    This board is actually painted pearl/metallic white and not anodized - love the finish. Picked this up with the Akko Macaw keycap set for $200 total, shipped during the Akko Christmas sale. The clip in stabilizers are really really good. Makes my durock stabilizers seem like a mistake.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      I do not see any evidence of this being painted and the finish looks identical to other white anodized boards that I have on-hand. Do you have some sort of source that you can share to confirm its painted? Akko doesn't typically paint their alu boards so it would be greatly appreciated.

    Most of the boards with a ton of flex tend to sound really thin or muted because of the flex cuts, which I am not a big fan of. How does the sound of this board compare to some of those boards?

    • @punkshoo

      It can go either way depending on how you load it down with foams.

    How did the keycaps hold up with time?

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  7 месяцев назад +1

      I don't daily drive any board for extended periods of time and these keycaps have been mostly for display. However, one of my more often used boards with Akko JDA Fuji which I use as my gaming board have held up swimmingly. In the year plus I've owned them they look as good as the day I put them on the Top 75.

    Im really debating between this keyboard, even though i had a really bad experience with my akko acr pro 67 or maybe go with a premium board from Mode designs for 400$.

    AKKO keycaps and switches are good, but their customer support is really bad. I bought an AKKO ALICE and they prob sent me a used board since some some standoff were install and some was loose rattling inside the case. The mounting screws for those loose standoffs were missing. Normally standoffs and screws are in a separate bag in most kits. Trying just get to the missing screws for the standoffs, AKKO support made me go thru multiple emails and constant asking for photos. I finally gave up. Lucky I was able to use some other spare standoffs to build the board. I will never buy another keyboard kit from AKKO because of the crappy support.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      Sorry to hear you had a bad experience with support. The board you received probably was just a bad QC issue. The prebuilt Akko Alice comes with the standoffs installed already. However, it shouldn't have been too difficult to just get replacements if they were missed in production or came loose during shipping. I've only had the issue with the 5075S and they immediately sent me replacement LEDs to solder on and said they'd replace the PCB if I couldn't solder. They ask for photos to help identify the QC issue and address it. Or at least that was the case for me. Hopefully if you decide to go with another Akko board in the future you have a better experience. I don't mean to shill Akko but I end up doing it not because they send me boards but because I've personally purchased many of them myself and they have all been an excellent experience minus the 5075S, which was easily repaired for me.

      As I said in the video, I agree that it needs to be priced a bit more aggressively for sure, but $150 is a bit low. You have to remember that Akko offers free or very inexpensive shipping and this is in-stock whereas these other alternatives are either group buys and/or have additional shipping costs.
