    I literally just bought this m2 with the haze pink yesterday. It's going to be my first board, and I'm planning to use it for work in the office. The 1800 form is what really drew me into it as it need the num pad for work. Lubed pink haze comparison would be super cool! Thanks for the detail vid.

    The M1 and M2 are probably the default recommendation for an aluminum keyboard right now.
    Hard to justify more expensive boards now unless the design is great like the space80 Apollo.

    Can you explain what you mean by that you also left out the stand offs ? Was it the 4 square black silicone/rubbers that came with the force break pads ?

    If i'm right. You can't ajust the high in thia board? Is that right?

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      There are no legs to adjust the typing angle if that's what you are asking. If you need it higher you can get larger bump ons for the back, though. Turntable silicone feet work great for that from personal experience.

  • @DirtyGingy

    How does the build quality compare to Q5? Which one feels more solid, premium? Can’t decide.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      I find the Monsgeek offerings to be a substantially better value because the board feels more premium and with the same mods sounds AND feels better.

  • @nickjackson4683
    @nickjackson4683 Год назад

    I know this isnt a 1:1 comparison, but as far as gasket performance would you recommend the keychron q2/q1 or the monsgeek?

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +3

      As far as flex is concerned I would say its on-par with the Q series boards. Q series use Poron gaskets so the sound is a bit different (deeper?) but overall I'd say they a very similar. With the release of the M1 and M2 its become very hard to recommend the Q series since you're getting a similar experience (QMK, south facing, decent board, decent flex, decent sound, still need to force break both of them, etc) at around 30-40% less cost for the barebones.

      @@punkshoo I just put the M2 together and when I press the shift/backspace type keys that have stabilizers they stay down..the space bar works fine. Did I just overlube the ones that stay down?

    • @punkshoo

      Overlubed, incorrectly assembled, or wire out stabilizer. A misaligned stabilized keycap can cause this sometimes, too.

      Ha! Sometimes you become oblivious to these things when you're messing with them in volume. So used to Akko caps being PBT that I totally goofed on that one. Good eye. But yeah, the keycaps were pretty good in terms of feel and quality. For obvious reason I couldn't even tell they were ABS from sound and I haven't built another board with them yet. Definitely worth picking up for $50 though if you like the colorway and the kitting fits the bill. Apologies for the goof!

    Interesting how MechTech received more plate foam options with this board (knowing that this is one of your complaints with yours).

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      There was no complaint about the amount of plate foam. The OBSERVATION was the change from Poron to EVA. If there are any differences it may be due to him receiving a domestic unit, where this one is international, or a retail unit. My unit is a review sample.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      Have you personally used either? The overall build is really going to impact how they sound. I'll agree the mod series has a better build quality to it but the Monsgeek is a lot less expensive and features QMK with south facing sockets. The Mod series doesn't. I've been able to get my M1 to sound as good as my Mod 006 and Mod 007 v2 with nothing but a force break. The M series is the clear winner here from a value perspective.

      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      Gotcha. Maybe try a different build in it. Should also mention you haven't been able to get a MOD 003 for like 6+ months now. I didn't find the build quality to be too far off from the Mod series. I have a MOD 006 and MOD 007 v2. I feel like the M1 comes in somewhere between Keychron Q1 and MOD 007 but for the price of a plastic 75% with junk features. The M2 isn't much different than the M1. Sounds and feels great with some Cream Soda switches and a nice set of PBT keycaps.

    Far from silent. If you want silence, get the Gamakay Pheonix switches.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      Keep in mind that these aren't lubed, though. They use the same silencing mechanism style as the "Gamakay Phoenix" switches which is to say they are without silicone. The benefit of this is a quieter switch without the mush of traditional silent switches. While I do agree that these aren't totally silent I do think that with a bit of 205g0 they could be pretty awesome.
