    Hi! I love your keyboard reviews. I got the Akko top 75 acrylic because of your review. It was my first custom keyboard. I'm slowly getting into the hobby and will keep watching your videos to see what my next keyboard will be. I might go for a 65% alui keyboard next. Keep up the great work.

    It's nice to (finally) see a review of this board in English - it was the unicorn I sought, finally found, and recently ordered but have not yet received. I wanted a wireless 1800/96% with a volume knob and north-facing leds (I don't care about cherry profile keycaps, I do care about shine-through as I frequently use my keeb in low-light conditions) and I couldn't find anything else with all of those qualities.
    As for the knobs - I don't care about Page Up, Page Down, Home, End, Insert, Delete keys because 1) I don't use them, and 2) they are all replicated on the numpad anyway. Other things I might do with knobs include: adjusting the brightness of the backlighting, zooming in and out, scroll horizontally or vertically, scroll through open apps and click to select one (like alt-tab).
    Thanks for the review. I'd like to see the software sometime if you're inclined to show it to us.

      I'm in the exact same boat. I ordered the Keychron v5 because I really like the 1800 layout, and wanted a knob at least, and everything about its great except that its South facing LED's. I'm just getting into "enthusiast" boards like these and was surprised almost all are south facing and that shine through keycaps are the minority. I also use my PC in low light for work and gaming 100% of the time so shine throughs are a must. Ordered this GK980 off AliExpress this week so who knows when it'll arrive.

    First of all your reviews are very good , congrats. This keyboard checks lot of my boxes. 1800, aluminium top, bt 5.0 , knob. But the fact that you cannot select the steel plate (at the aluminium version) or buy it separetly and the fact that has northfacing leds is bad for me. My most used keyboard so far is akko monsgeek m1 75%, a 98% version of that would be the best for me but I do not know if they are going to create something like that. Do you have any other keyboard suggestions with those specs except q5 ?

      Thanks for the kinds words. If you're looking for a 98% like the M1 then wait for the M2. It will not have wireless but will be identical to the M1 in everything but layout. Should be coming out in the next couple months, hopefully.

      At the time of recording the knobs had very limited functionality unless programmed as keypresses and configured as macros to be used with something like AutoHotkey. I have no idea how the software is now since I didn't spend much time with the board after this video.

    If I had 4 knobs, I would use them as 4 regular buttons with the encoder click while wishing every time that I had regular buttons instead because knobs are slower and less accurate for anything I’d want extra macros for
    4 knobs is a flex though. Kinda like 10u spacebar but not nearly in the same ballpark

  • @TBSxDRUMS

    What this board has that the competition doesn’t is a split space. That is my main reason for eyeing this over the Keychron Q5 or something similar. Only other compact full size board that I know of with split space is the Boston 120%.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      That is for sure a pro if you're into split space. I wouldn't think many people would need or want to use it on a near full size board since layer use would be minimal for the average user. I can see that being a huge pro if you're a heavy macro person, though.

    • @TBSxDRUMS
      @TBSxDRUMS Год назад

      @@punkshoo I don’t use layers or macros-I actually use the left space as left shift (regular left shift hurts my pinky finger for some reason), the right space as space, and the key in the middle as Cmd on Mac for my job. My left thumb isn’t used for anything on a standard layout, so split space lets me give it my most-used pinky keys to avoid pain or injury. Not the most common use case for sure, but hey, that’s what this hobby is all about lol. Tailoring to specific needs and wants.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад +1

      Accessibility is definitely a good benefit as well then. Im a "both thumbs" spacebar user depending on where I at on the keyboard when space is required so I use splits as all spacebar, lol

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      I didn't talk about the software because it's Skyloong software and it's fairly basic. The knobs aren't mapped to anything other than media controls and zoom controls. They don't have a way to interface directly with software like something by elgato or the like.

    • @punkshoo
      @punkshoo  Год назад

      Unfortunately there isn't much to see. Its the standard Skyloong/Epomaker software. You simply assign normal media and/or keyboard keypresses to the rotatory encoder turn or press. There's no real software integration for things like editing software, unfortunately. You will have to assign hotkeys and whatnot which are then assigned to the knob.
